Sanath Jayasuriya Commentary Thread [Oh no, he's back!]

& uh-oh, I just realized that this guy might comment in our T20 and ODI games aswell :(

How boring is he gonna make it sound?

he really struggles to get his point across. maybe he should go back to domestic cricket and work back on his technique :P

imagine his sledging...if his commentary is this bad, just imagine how he would boggle the opposition's minds by talking trash.

(Something along the lines of)

Grieg: So you've been busy touring around the world, recently went to Hong Kong. You just can't get that cricket out of your blood can you?

Sanath: Yes I was invited to play for All-Stars in Hong Kong sixes

:|

:)) I heard that exchange.

Doesn't give you much to wok with does he.

why every srilankan seems to say WICKUT instead of WICKET???

Sanath is using WICKUT regualrly and so is russel arnold!! :)

Yeah, it sounds so similar to "biscuit" like in "Sri Lanka need to take biscuits to get closer":)).

Really bad commentator. Has trouble saying a proper sentence and he says 'tump' instead of 'stump'. For example, "That was outside the off tump"

While describing the Sri Lankan ODI team composition, he ended the topic with, "we should be good". What the hell? Is he a commentator or SL team member?

Poor commentator His english is v poor and he struggles, makes you difficult to follow what hes saying

Also kind of goes on and on around in circles

simply woeful....is repetitive...can barely string a sentence together and offers very little insight......might as well have inzi in the comm box :inzi

"Dilshan can wait for it and then put the bad shot away."

Deadly stuff:)):)))!!!

"It´s a big responsible bility for these two."

:)):)))!!!

How can you like not cricUT with the Sanath giving little bit of bang when the bad shot should be hit for good ball.

"Whenever..... There is a Afridi.... There is the wickut...."

ok mods I know I am not the most serious guy over here :inti

but I think it would be really cool if we could get a smiley for sanath jayasuriya :)
he is being mentioned so often these days, and is almost up there with :waqar & :raja

so would be cool with a jayasuriya ismiley :D

from sanath just now: 'alot of sri lankans are here today...to support....the sri lankans'

well no sht!

'Flashed through the off drive for..a SINGAAL'

'That was a vital WIKKATT'

A Sanath special as picked up by my brother:

"When Farhat and Hafeez were batting..... Pakistan were 151 for one (1)......"

Funny thing is that they both were opening the innings and thus Pakistan had not lost a wicket at all:)).

This guy is just amazing. You have to appreciate a guy who is giving Waqar a run for his money. I wish Sanath a long commentary career, can't wait to hear more of him.

Lol - Never thought that would happen in my life time.

Sanath reminds me of my English literature teacher at school. Same accent, same pronunciations (eg wickut, crickut etc) - grammar is the only difference.

A teacher like Sanath? that too teaching english literature? no ****
:)):)):)):)):)):))

Sanath - pls give some more gems today.

thats right danny........tanvir mainly goes away from the batsman i dont see him come into the batsman , so dilshan needs to bat long and not because of anything else danny........because pakistani bowlers bowling good areas ..

Great commentators bill lawry, Richie benaud , Tony greig. Another good commentator mark nicholas of channel 9

His crikkut commentary is thoroughly enjoyable. Has filled the void left by Greig in this team quite seamlessly.

Having said that Sharjah doesn't seem like Sharjah without Tony. :wasim

I am starting to enjoy his commentary, was really good today :sanath

A legend on the field and in the box :waqar

need a sanath smiley.....although he finds it hard to string a sentence together.....he offers more insight and is alot less biased than his fellow SL commies

pretty sure he did start crying at one stage during commentary.

these Lankan commies are just :)))

naa he will of course show passion for SL but not to the extent russell does where his voice starts to reek of desperation and defensiveness towards SL! sanath seems like a likeable chap

Sanaths commentating is atrocious at times but he is a very humble and unbiased so he is still my favourite sri lankan commentator.

A spinner bowls a wrong´un and this is what he said:

"That´s the wrong one."

Whilst 'trying' to talk about taking the calculated risk:

"Thisara Perera has to be a calculator now....."

Wow:))!

IMO he is the best SL commentator out there (which is not saying much) yes his grammar isn't the best but at least he is not completely biased

VERY funny. Really enjoy his commentary.

"you must trust the other batsman. You khaaaaaaaaaaaaant. You don't trust the otherbatsman :yk

Talking about Umar Gul:

"Rameez told me that 'Gal' is a Punjabi word. Tell you what, 'Gull' is also a name of a bird in English. Can you add to it anything, Sanath?" - Danny Morrison.

"Danny,..... bird or not....... a brilliant bowler he is" - Sanath Jayasuriya.

I was in stitches:)):))):)))!!!!

Batsman Hit a boundary ..... SANTH on commentary after like 30 sec .. says " dat is 4 runs" ........... I mean PATHETIC

his analysis :)))

twice he guessed at what Malinga would bowl and was completely wrong both times.

Kids dont remember 92 WC. He was the only one who kept backing us when we were on the brink of going out.

In the semi when Malik got out 90% of Pakistan thought that was it but SG kept saying Pakistan will go through.

maybe bleddybcci had fixed it and he was already on their payroll hence he knew we'd win :moyo

I find his commentary really entertaining

Looks like :waqar has some serious competition.

the way he breaks down 1 word into 2 or 3, hilarious :))

His strategic pauses in between reminds me of Inzi :inzi

What's wrong with him? Maybe that he can't actually string a sentence together.

It's not even that...people have had horrid command of England but still been good commentators (that said I struggle to think of any but that's not the point). It's more that he has nothing meaningful to say, no insights to provide, which you need to as a colour commentator.

Talking about Umar Gul:

Surely Morrison was taking the p!ss lol :))

:)) I heard that exchange.

Doesn't give you much to wok with does he.

He never does.

"Kumar Sangakkara is a very senior campaigner" - Danny Morrison.

"..... Yes....." Sanath Jayasuriya.

:)))
there is a great competition between Waqar and Jaysuria :D love their commentary.

What bad news. :(

Would have loved to hear his thoughts in the middle of a Cook/Trott partnership.

Although he is better than that monstrocity of a commentator Arnold, This guy needs to learn basic english before he pics up another mic

Yes, he's back - and he hasn't improved.

Jayasuriya hurts my ears. Worst commentator ever.

Sorry to sound like a colonialist, but English is the universal language of cricket. If you can't speak it, then you shouldn't be paid to sit in a commentary box and give poorly articulated and redundant opinions.

I must say though, just been creasing up reading through this thread again. Brilliant quotes! :))
