"Sarfaraz Ahmed is not a good wicket-keeper" : Ramiz Raja

Let's not be too harsh, remember Babar was dropped in his 20s. Imagine the fate of this game had they held on. Sarfraz is back after a long hiatus, very unfair blaming him for the team's struggles.

This is something he was doing before getting dropped as well...he picked right from where he had left back then. It is kind of hard to ignore or not criticize when he has costed Pakistan much more via missed stumpings, dropped catches, and even a missed review according to reports.

These were just the few of the missed opportunities and dropped catches by sarfraz in 2014, where he was in the best form of his life.

Look how many easy catches he dropped how many easy stumping opportunities he missed when he was at the absolute peak of his performance.

Why did we bring this guy back as our keeper in 2022/23? PCB needs to take every action that it can to disallow regional/political/domicile based selections in the national team if they have any desire to be a top-performing team.

For a rookie I’d have said sure give the guy a break, he’s coming in new.

But an experienced player like Sarfraz is expected to come in and perform at an international level straight away. He did that with his batting. His keeping, well, is pretty ordinary and must be judged right off as so.

Sarfraz is probably a good person. But I seriously hate the Karachi lobby and its victim mentality. If Rizwan was from Karachi, he would have been hailed as the greatest wicketkeeper of all time by this same lobby. They don't care about the person or the performances, they simply care about where an individual lives.

Rizwan is the safest wicketkeeper in Pak. Sarfraz is just one tier above Kamran Akmal in terms of keeping.

Sarfraz's wicketkeeping was badly exposed yet again in this test. Numerous missed stumpings and catches is unforgivable at this level. He also seemed to be sleeping on a few occasions when Pakistan missed reviews. People take Rizwan for granted and don't recognize how good he is behind the stumps, simply because he rarely makes any mistakes.

With the kind of rotten team Pakistan has right now, Sarfraz is good enough to walk into it as a pure batter. Asking him to keep wickets though is just not a very smart decision.

Sarfraz Ahmed is a Lion. He plays for the team, not for himself.

- He has the highest strike rate in Test Cricket after Afridi
- He averages a magnificent 37 coming in the lower-order
- He rarely drops catches

Just because he missed out on 2 stumpings on a dead pitch where the ball randomly skidded a mile doesn't mean he's a bad keeper.

Rizwan drops catches more often.

LOL, the two videos you shared as proof of Rizwan's dropped catches...one is actually Khawaja dropping him in the last series. And the first one where he dropped Khawaja, that is the kind of catch which is usually one of the tougher ones because of the split second reaction time the keeper usually has to react. I bet Safraz would have woken up by the time the ball had hit the ground, just like the stumping where he didn't even try despite collecting the ball.

BTW, Rizwan averages more than Sarfraz and is generally a better batsman than Sarfraz, who was dropped because of averaging 30 over a run of 28 some test. At 35, he is only good for scoring runs on a phatta pitch like this where Ish Sodhi even scored 58

Sarfraz lost his eyes years ago. He was always going to help the opposition win the match.

Sethi and Afridi bringing him back shows they are clueless.

Arguably the worst pick in Pakistani test history. :)))

Lion. King. Giraffe. Gorilla. Who cares?

A WK who is poor behind the stumps cannot be played in test matches. Regardless of how well he bats, he’ll end up with net negative impact on the team.

Sarfraz is a poor poor keeper and needs to go.

Not true at all.

Sarfraz is a much better keeper.

Don’t be fooled by recent buzz in the on-going match.

So he kept throughout the series and did his best, mentally he had to be in a very good spot because he's scoring runs so that should have helped him feel good behind the stumps too but we saw that that's absolutely not what happened.

Can anyone list his drop catches/missed stumpings/missed DRS by each inning in this series?

Sarfraz has made mistakes but the grass is always greener. People make out Rizwan didn’t make any mistakes - he did.

Rizwan needed a break so all Riz fans should be happy - this is all good for him

Sarfaraz in 2 Test so far

Three missed stumpings, three dropped catches, two reviews not taken, two edges not picked.

Twice today vs Bracewell

Say what you want about Ramiz but he's bang on about Sarfaraz's bad keeping. People tend to forget that Sarfaraz's keeping was one of the main reasons why he was dropped from the team.

He's been sloppy behind the stumps and snatched at the ball at times.

Some of the errors have been very basic and there is no way a keeper at the international level should be making such mistakes.

Option 1: Excellent wicket keeper, poor batsmen.

Option 2: Average batsmen, poor wicket keeper.

Think others need to be given chances.
