This from Ramiz after Sarfraz missed a stumping chance.

Harsh or a fair call?

He is ordinary indeed. His batting form shouldn't cover his deficiencies with the gloves.

Now people will hate on Ramiz for stating the obvious.

He isn't bad he is average, there's a difference

He has had a far better tour with the gloves than I would have thought
 
I wouldn't call him 'not good'; He's better than Kamran Akmal for sure, but he does miss a few chances every now and then.
 
Latif, Moin Khan and Bari have said Sarfaraz is the best keeper in Pakistan. I would think those three would know a little more kkeeping than "Rambo".

He is, but he also did miss a few catches. He dropped De Villiers early in the 2nd test match vs SA in 2013, and he went on to make a match-winning partnership with Smith.
 
Harsh. He has caught balls that Gilchrist admitted, he wouldn't have been able to. He's not the best keeper but we don't have anyone better.
 
Moin was a dreadful keeper himself and Rashid handpicked Salman who was good against spin but very poor against pace. A former WK doesn't necessarily have to be a better judge.

Rameez is saying it as he sees and Sarfraz has never looked convincing with the gloves. Of course the love for him on Pakpassion these days has blinded plenty of people so it understandable that people are failing to notice his shoddy glovework.

Every WK has dropped catches but Adnan is the most natural WK in Pakistan as well as the most athletic.
 
Adnan is a better keeper but the gulf is greater in their batting than in their keeping.
 
Thought mamoon wouldve learnt his lesson by now

Ramiz lost me when he said that Pakistan has had a rich history of good wicket keepers and people are not used to bad wicket keepers. I am not sure where he has been for the last 8 odd years with *******... was he really in the commentary box?
 
Of course Sarfraz > Adnan, because his batting is at a completely different level but saying that Sarfraz is not a quality WK is a very valid remark to make but people are overreacting here because Sarfraz is the doodh ka dhula huwa Pakistani cricketer these days.

Adnan was athletic but in his short career he dropped some really simple catches.

Thought it was said in the heat of the moment, really. Don't think he really meant it. Obviously, as a Pakistani he wants them to win and not muck up any chances like they have this entire tour. He has been patient long enough like the rest of the fans for a win, and dropping chances like that could get under your skin.
 
Sarfraz is just something else.

His stumping of Warner has probably won us the match! And not to miss his 100
 
Rameez talks garbage. he didnt even knew Sarfraz was selected in Test already
he said during first innings Sarfraz did well in odis and its good that he has earned his place in test cause of his odi performance . he had forgot abt Srilanka test series . so i wont take his comments seriously
 
I've seen Mark Boucher drop sitters as well, doesn't mean he wasn't an amazing WK.

Adnan is no Boucher or Healy, but he's the best WK in Pakistan and seems a complete natural. The likes of Sarfraz, Kamran, Rizwan etc look like batsmen who took up keeping at a young age to improve their chances for selection while Adnan seems to be born for it. His agility and body frame are perfect for keeping.

Definitely the most natural WK we've produced since Rashid. However his batting is simply not good enough so he's no genuine threat to Sarfraz. Don't make Sarfraz a better keeper than he is because of his amazing batting form.

Ramiz is possibly the most clueless commentator going around, in particular he seems to have zero knowledge of new/upcoming Pakistani cricketers. Ramiz would probably be more at home commentating on an Indian or IPLmatch.
 
Rameez even went on to say last year when Zulfiqar made his Debut that Zulfiqar recently played U 19 cricket and cause of that performance he is in pakistan team

Same drop problem like Akmals.
 
That's a bit of an overstatement by Ramiz, but Sarfraz is not the best glove-man in Pakistan. However he's the best wicket-keeper batsman in Pakistan, which makes him the best option.
 
He is not a good keeper. His batting makes up for it though. Why so serious everyone? :kakmal

Rameez is not a good commentator.. He bases his opinion on the last 2 innings of each player unless its afridi, when he just keeps on telling us how dangerous he is.

So surprising, a player whose brother was so talented, played in a world cup winning side, with imran, miandad, wasim etc how so little cricketing insight.

Haven't seen the match so can't comment on Sarfraz, but cant seem to remember him criticizing Kamran?

Hopefully he sticks to IPL cricket, an eternal bootlicker.

He is famous for criticising players with a particular reason ! Specially when it comes to akmals ! He supports them immensely ! Certainly a bootlicker ! Saw him earlier criticising sarfraz keeping in a test match with a faulty technique ! Best glovemen in pakistan atm !

Kamran only in dreams can Average 40 in Test Cricket. And yes, Adnan Akmal was one reason we lost to Zimbabwe.
 
Sarfraz, Adnan, U. Akmal and Salman are prone to dropping catches, hence why I believe all four of them are pretty much on the same level, except Adnan and Salman seem a bit more secure than Sarfraz and U. Akmal.

Watling is pretty much the best keeper-bat these days. AB and Sanga don't keep and MSD is a HTB despite a decent tour of England.
 
He may not be as good of a Keeper as rameez wants him to be but atleast he is showing his ability to make contribution with bat, which unfortunately the akmals havent been able to pull off. Hence, overall, in terms of options available, he is pretty good.
 
sarfaraz gets up too early when keeping, also, he needs to train his 'sharpness' if you get what i mean, he is snatching at the ball instead of having quick but very calm movement. he has to let the ball come to him instead of snatching at it. it would be helpful if ppl here are constructively critical but it seems the majority is interested in either not acknowledging a problem or just 'point-scoring' on the internet by arguing for the sake of argument.

Cause Watling has a superior away average than home. Averages 45 as keeper. Take out BD and Zimbos and it's still a decent 36 with an average of 40 away. Always seen him perform in tough situations like his ton against India in the 2nd test and some good performances in South Africa where we got caned and even Kane failed. In spin-friendly conditions against Windies, averaged 51.

This guy is unassuming and remains hidden but is quite dangerous.

For Watling away would really be in Asian conditions.He's failed last time he was in India.hasn't played much else AFAIK.

Dhoni has done well in Pak and SL too as conditions are similar to India
 
Very fair call

Haven't seen him much but when he came around last year his WK skills were not great, reason why I didn't think he deserved an ODI spot as Akmal is just about as good as WK and he can bat too, still think Safraz will find it difficult in the World Cup so wouldn't you want another batsman and have Akmal as a WK/batsman

He was actually caught napping. Saw Johnson's foot VERY late, what if batsman brought his foot inside during that gap?

Johnson kept his foot still, Sarfraz got lucky not to get punished for his late stumping.
 
Ramiz seems to have a problem with Karachi cricketers. Publicly attacks Fawad and now Sarfraz. Has he ever said on air how much the Akmals suck?
 
I said this in another thread....Ramiz is an idiot, and his ignorance is laughable. He can also be highly hypercritical at times and just says stuff without thinking it through.

The "chance" he talked about was a tough chance that came under the batsmen bat from the footholes and was also full. He just shows his sheer stupidity.
 
I don't think Sarfraz is particularly great with the gloves but he's not terrible and has looked like he's improved recently.

The problem with Ramiz when he's doing live commentary is that, like a true Pakistani, he makes knee-jerk statements depending on whatever happened in the last two minutes with no semblance of context or match situation. It's like a facepalming roller coaster listening to him during a match.

Ramiz can say whatever he want but I believe Sarfraz has booked his place as WK for atleast the next ten matches unless ofcourse Sarfraz pulls of an akmalesque performance...

When did he say that Adnan Akmal cost us that test match against SA when he dropped AB?

The crap cricketer that Ramiz was himself, he's not stupid enough to publicly slam the crap cricketers from his cities.

Within one month he's publicly scathed Fawad and now Sarfraz, both rare Karachi cricketers who were ignored and mistreated for parchee players from Punjab for many years and now have owned all the bigots with their performances, which, I can tell, doesn't sit well with some people.
 
I don't think Ramiz actually meant that. Or maybe he did? I don't really care much for his commentry/analysis anyway. Sarfaraz isn't a super awesome keeper, but he's not awful either.
 
Rameez goes with the flow and turns panic mode on very quickly. I am personally a big fan of his commentary and analysis and don't think he has regional bias or anything along those lines, just a little knee-jerky at times.

And yes, of course it is. Adnan in UAE, Safraz in SA, then Adnan in Zimbabwe...It was designed for Sarfraz to keep failing and Adnan was given flat tracks and minnows to secure his spot, but still didn't work. Still the determination and the GREAT TALENT of Sarfraz prevailed, which obviously is irking you. If it wasn't for his superb century that Adnan could only dream of, we wouldn't have won this test match.

Fawad was kept out for years even after being the king of domestic scene when crap players like Farhat, Malik, Amin and others kept making returns for no reason. Has anyone ever explained why he was kept out, and why he was dropped from tests in the first place?
