Be careful guys. We might be internet savvy but these vultures use their digital superpowers to target the vulnerable. Watch out for your elders.

I receive at least 3 emails a week (Bank, Fidelity, & Which?) warning me of such scammers and how to avoid them.

Once however I got the scam call telling me my computer had a cirus, so I asked the digital clowns what my IP address was, they went into meltdown, especially after receiving a barrage of punjabi abuse.

The first line of defence is the accent, if it doesn't sound British, then hang up.

I usually get calls from someone with a desi accent pretending to be someone he is not - they get abusive if you play around with them so I simply block them

I used to do the same thing originally, then realised these are just third world folk being paid to do a job on the cheap by big corporate companies, so I don't give any abuse, just politely say I am not interested, and then hang up.

Man this is hilarious. How many of us haven't been called up by someone claiming to be Alex or Robert in a thick Indian accent?

How many scammer numbers have you blocked?

Google seems to block a few through spam filter, but some how these snakes reappear!

This is not meant to be funny, but I'm sorry it just is. :)))

No need to apologise, these scammers from India must be exposed at our humour!

Check this out, this guy takes Indian scammers for a ride! The scamming melts lose the plot! So delightful!

Keep posting these guys, these scammers could be targeting your parents. Knowledge is power.

Had a call the other day from a guy claiming to be in London and working for a phone company, calling himself John.

Broad Indian accent and sounded pushy.

When I asked him what part of London he was based in, he said Plymouth :)

Call ended, number blocked.

I get calls from Indian scammers even on my work phone lol, they pretend to be Google Ads rep haha. I always do gaali galoch in Hindi and they get a minor shock and they are they ones to hang up not me.

I am more fed up with Chinese scammers, they occupy my voice mail inbox and it's a PITA. It's always 'you have unclaimed Fedex parcel blah blah, press 1 for Chinese 2 for English'.

For some reason I haven't received any Nigerian scammer email in a long time, Gmail is really good these days to filter such emails. No more you won 10 million lottery emails.

But it's 100% possible that desi accent caller sitting in subcontinent claiming to work for western telecom company is telling the truth, at least in Canada. I recently met a newcomer who was already working for a Canadian company for last 3 years from India. It was Ericsson hiring these guys.

Scammers aside, I cannot even look at this YouTuber's coloured hair in thumbnail leave alone watching his video.

I know BT in UK shifted their call centre to India. Even the ones telling the truth were thought to be scammers. BT lost quite a bit of business and were ultimately force to reopen their call centre in the UK

I started a thread on this a while ago.

Its sad to say but if you receive a call from someone with an Indian accent, always suspect it as a scam until otherwise satisfied.

Still getting emails from African princesses wanting to invest their fortunes with me, but wanting money up front from me :)

Arab ladies seem to be joining the party too. It is not possible to be 100% safe online.

My friend works in a call center and tries to convince me its a good job and one can make a career.

Basically he works in sales and sells petrol cards to truckers in USA.

He doesnt use his real name, and uses a fake english name like Jeff or Mathew.

Guy gets a basic salary of 80k per month and a comission of 3-5 lakhs for his sales. Dont know if its legit or not. Maybe it is.

I almost got a call center job that paid well, ended up doing a low paid one which is of a market researcher and now i regret it.

I remember seeing India being the number 1 hub of scamming, primarily stealing money from seniors in Canada and the United States.

Even most recently my parents whom are elderly get scam calls from India. A lot of seniors last a lot of money due to this issue. I Hope this can be stopped one day.

Very soon these call centres workers will be made redundant...
They're moving on from these people and have started using AI which have a perfect English accent...

Scum of the earth

They have no concept of morality. They are willing to earn money even if it means being vile scumbags (i.e., call center scammers). :inti

Part Time Job Fraud Tops Cyberabad Crime in 2025 Telangana

While the number of cybercrime cases fell significantly, the financial impact remained substantial.

Hyderabad: Cybercrime continued to be the single largest contributor to overall crime in the Cyberabad police commissionerate in 2025, even as the total number of cognisable offences recorded a marginal decline compared to the previous year, according to data released at the annual press meet. Briefing mediapersons on Tuesday, Cyberabad police commissioner Avinash Mohanty said the commissionerate registered 37,243 cognisable offences in 2025, a slight decline of 1.2 per cent from 37,689 cases in 2024. Despite the overall decrease, cybercrime remained the dominant crime head, accounting for 7,636 cases, though this represented a sharp 35.9 per cent decline from 11,914 cases in 2024.

While the number of cybercrime cases fell significantly, the financial impact remained substantial. The total amount lost to cyber frauds in 2025 stood at ₹404.61 crore, a reduction of nearly 49 per cent from ₹793.18 crore recorded in 2024. Police interventions helped prevent further losses, with ₹54.67 crore secured through proactive intervention (PoH), while ₹20.75 crore was refunded to victims during the year.

A modus operandi-wise analysis showed part-time job fraud to be the most reported category, accounting for 2,079 cases, followed by trading fraud (1,256 cases) and smishing fraud (689 cases). One of the most notable trends was the sharp fall in digital arrest fraud, where cases dropped from 1,002 in 2024 to 117 in 2025, a decline of over 88 per cent, though losses in such cases still crossed ₹15 crore.

Beyond cyber offences, property-related crimes increased their share from 12 per cent in 2024 to 15 per cent in 2025, emerging as the second-largest crime category. Bodily offences also rose from six per cent to eight per cent, while crime against women recorded a one percentage point increase, rising from eight per cent in 2024 to 9 per cent in 2025. The economic offences wing registered 95 cases in 2025, marginally higher than 90 cases in 2024. While the value of property attached more than doubled to ₹11.50 crore, the amount frozen declined to ₹26.17 crore from ₹30.77 crore, and arrests dropped from 203 to 111, indicating a mixed enforcement outcome. Several high-value investment frauds involving real estate and stock-market schemes were detected, leading to arrests and large-scale asset attachment proceedings.

In road safety, fatal accidents declined by 6.2 per cent, from 856 in 2024 to 803 in 2025, and deaths fell from 893 to 850. However, road accidents accounted for a higher share of total crime, rising from 10 per cent to 12 per cent. The highest number of fatal accidents were reported on National and State Highways, followed by other roads, underscoring the continued vulnerability of high-speed corridors. Heavy vehicles and two-wheelers accounted for a significant proportion of fatalities, while driving errors and other human factors remained the leading causes. Women and child safety initiatives continued through targeted enforcement and outreach. SHE Teams conducted 3,887 awareness programmes, while Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs) registered 103 cases under the ITP Act, rescuing 195 victims. Under Operation Smile and Muskan, 2,298 children were rescued, most of whom were reunited with their families.

More cyber crime in india.
