Well am I the only one who thinks that the bowling lineup of this team is also not as strong as it is given credit for. Yes they are good and on a given day can be very good but overall there is a certain lack of quality and experience. Also there is no genuine fast bowler and by that I mean someone who can sustain a 10 over spell with speeds over 145 Kph

Talks of an upset at this stage are premature. Pakistan can still get upto 200+ and even if they don't, Scotland would do very well to reach 150 against this bowling.

first of all those games we won over south africa were just sheer brutally good bowling and we cant expect that in every match to save us...

we still lost the series so i dont know what the point is there...our bowlers put up a fight is that the point? how is that any different than 15 years ago?







secondly its not so much how bad this batting lineup is, but moreso how STUPID the selectors are for leaving out guys like umar akmal and ahmed shehzad and having NO VISION to select lower order hard hitting allroundres


also selecting umar amin over hammad azam despite the fact that umar amin hasnt done anything in domestic realyl to speak of and hammad azam proved in his few opportunities at the international level he can bat and he can hit hard...

we pull guys like umar amin and ehsan adil out of nowhere yet guys like anwar ali hammad azam fawad alam ahmed shehzad etc who havnt even been given a real chance for years dont even make the cut???




we deserve to get kicked out in group stage and i guarantee you we will
 
I mean if I look at the bowlers, Junaid Khan is not highly experienced, every time Muhammad Irfan walks on to the field I am having a feeling that he is not going to last the full fifty overs, Ehsan Adil is young and seems like medium pace at best with little or no batting skills adding nothing in that department. Saeed Ajmal is world class but can you expect it from him to always to carry the burden. He is the one who is bowling the last overs as well and unlike Saqlain in the past, he is not partnered by someone from the other end with a legend (Wasim, Waqar)
 
On a totally different note, sometimes I would want to see Pakistan bowling lineup bowling to us in these conditions :)
 
Haris Sohail is a better prospect. He played in South Africa in Champions League and looked like a great prospect. Won Sialkot one of the match and displayed a better technique than Umar Amin.
 
Don't worry guys; we should be able to defend 200-225
Still this kind of batting will NOT be acceptable in the Champions Trophy

Why Shoaib Malik is not being played? Is he only played to keep junior Akmal out of the side?

Umar Amin was always mediocre , I would prefer even Younis Khan over him.....Asad also needs to improve big time in this format, average of less than 30 and under 70 strike rate is intolerable.
 
look at their bowling. their most expensive bowler is machan with 8 overs 43 runs and a wicket at 5.37

their most economical bowler is taylor 7 overs 2 maidens and 16 runs with a wicket at 2.28

their striker is haq with 8 overs 1 maidens 25 runs 3 wickets at 3.14
 
its not about winning its about our batting. against scotland we should have been crusing but we are making it look like we are facing steyn and philander.
 
There is a lot of positive talk about Asad Shafiq in domestic circle and ex-players but somehow he just does not strike to me as an LOI player.

btw both ehsan adil and umer amin outperformed hammad azam and anwar ali in domestic season...better check QAZ/President cup
 
Saeed Ajmal at the crease in the 37th over against Scotland. Talk about depth in the batting ;)

Give attacking players a chance and let them learn about constructing an innings.
 
our batsmen must be thinking its cool to take it easy since juanid and Irfan have been transformed into wasim and marshal in that training camp.
 
Anwar Ali is also overrated, true he did a great job in under 19 world cup once but that is about it. People keep raving about him but he adds nothing special. If he can improve his batting to the extent where he can become the number 8 and not a number 8 in traditional Pakistani terms, he can be used. Even Abdul Razzaq would be a better bet than many of the young so called all rounders that we are having at the moment, True Razzaq cannot field any more, but his nagging bowling and sometimes destructive batting can be an asset. Do not know whether he is still plying his trade anymore though
 
If misbah gets out now, its game over for Pakistani boys.

we played 7 specialist batsmen. among whom 5 crossed double figures, 3 scored over 20 , 2 scored over 30 and 1 over 40..... Amongst them only misbah with 32 remains not out.
 
Also Saeed Ajmal is a much smarter batsman than many that we have above him. He knows his limitations and keeps within his range. The leg side flick shot that he has is also much better than Kamran Akmals leg side game. Other than a heave, do not think that Kamran ever plays a leg side shot

We need 10 specialist batsmen, 5 bowlers and 3 keepers - all playing together!

Sounds liek a plan. petition to iCC to change number of players for Pakistan from 10 to 18. Maybe then we can cross 280.
 
Scotland missed a trick in the middle, instead of trying spinners from both ends, could have tried one seam bowler from one end when Majid Haq was bowling. Some frailties remain for ever and dibbly dobbly bowling in seam friendly conditions under pressure is one of the things that probably can never be corrected. Remember Andrew Symonds once got Muhammad Yousuf, Ijaz Ahmed and Inzi on the dolliest of dollies in an ODI in Australia. Wide swinging half vollies which they just kept edging one after the other :)
 
you know ajmal is not a bad partner to have on the other end. Remember the partnership he had with amir

thats good bcz that is the one main infact only ingredient needed when you are trying to build a partnership.

thats not the point. i know we will win this match but our batting needs to get their heads straight. This will not work in the champions trophy.
 
Absolutely spot on, the game is not over until both teams have batted :)
however sometimes you expect professionals to outperform semi professionals

Why wont it work? Its the result that counts.

Conditions in England are tough which is why we have six games to adjust.
 
Do not think though that they can adjust in six games. Somethings are historic in nature and never change
 
Junaid will swing the ball back into the right handers.
Ireland will be cleaned up for less than 160.

If our batting doesnt adjust then you expect us to win the cup on the back of our bowling. I am not expecting them to get out the first round i want them to win the finals and to win the finals you need your batting to work.

I hope that in the next 5 matches the batsmen will perform. from this match point of view our batting needs alot more practice.

The team selection is ok with the exception of one or two players. The dearth of a genuine all-rounder and a wicket keeper batsman is the reason that the team is struggling. Individual changes may make some changes but overall the problem remains the same. A good wicket keeper batsman and a solid all-rounder
