What's new

Shoaib Malik hits 58* as Pakistan beat Bangladesh by five wickets in first T20I at Lahore

must say this is poor batting...they have part timers on not even spinners yet no thing

Ahsan gone after a hack,..should have deposited that to karachi serious lack of power we have

Pak needs to wait for bad balls and take it deep as its not an easy wicket to hit big shots as ball isnt coming onto the bat really well

Ahsan Ali looked extremely ordinary. His awful domestic stats were reflected in his batting.

Not good enough for this level, and should count himself extremely lucky for having the distinction of playing international cricket.

Misbah is a gift who keeps on giving.

We really need to find 2-3 good batsmen. Once Babar fail his team cannot chase even 120 against top teams

Serious dearth of quality in the batting. It is Babar or bust. I reckon Bangladesh with Shakib and Mushfiqur could outbat this Pakistan side more often than not.

Sad that the no 1 ranked team still needs the services of Malik to chase 140. Not sure which is a bigger joke, t20 ranking or the format itself.

True. In no part of that innings did he inspire any confidence. He lack fitness and skills both. An out of form Fakhar would instill more fear in the opposition then this bloke for sure.

Our number 1 ranking is arguably the most misleading team ranking in any format in history. It is a complete joke.

The cricket looks very amateur!

If T20s were played in the 90s, this is what it would look like.

Looks like pitch has been made especially for Mustafizur’s style of bowling as cutter isn’t coming onto bat at all.

There used to be a time when Mustafizur was touted as the next big-thing in cricket...

Is there a rule that you cannot be number 1 by playing certain players? Genuinely interested in the meaning of your comment.

He’s still better than Amir though. I remember he idolised Amir in his early days and it looks like Amir has followed in his footsteps more than he has.

Watching this horrible negative display of cricket reminds me of Misbah days as captain.

Misbah is indeed cancer. All the charm that we had has faded away with his return.

Hussain Talat has been mistreated. He is no Babar but he is decent enough for our terrible batting lineup.

You surely have to back him in ODIs and T20s ahead of the likes of Asif and Ahsan Ali.

Hopefully a good PSL will force Misbah to consider him for the middle-order in Limited Overs.

Only by Bangladeshi’s. Anyone with an ounce of cricketing knowledge could see he was a one trick pony.

Is this the team we are taking to the WC? Good luck to us then. We will need all of it.

It’s international sport and rankings made by the same organisation that made the test and odi rankings. Either all are misleading or none. If Pakistan has found a way to fluke the rankings , what’s stopping the other teams in doing the same?

He was our score highest run scorer in South Africa. But PP experts are telling us he didn't win the series hence dropped while the like of Malik, asif ali, hafeez keeps winning us everything.

Doubt it.

Amir is still a clutch T20 bowler.

Shame he didn’t choose to play Test otherwise he would’ve been selected for this series too.

Well the no. 5 team lost a match to BD when they played them in India.

You're still so salty about the rankings it's amusing.

No one cares what you say coz at the end of the day your country will have their name next to the number 5 while we'll be next to the number 1

Ifthikar is a old guy himself. T20 needs fearless cricket.

Sharma is 32, Virat is 31 and Shami is definitely older than his official age, Manish Pandey 30, Jadeja 31, Chahal 29.

Damn thats one hell of a young brigade!

T20s should never be played during the day. Completely kills the atmosphere.

They should be producing wickets that closely resemble the World Cup wickets. Not sure who decided on a slow wicket with a rough outfield and longish boundaries.

Thought we would have learnt from the Sri Lanka series. These pitches are even worse.

Well atleast this gives us an impression about how good Mickey was as a coach.

He was outperforming with almost the same core of players.

Blame Mani and Wasim Khan first to make Misbah and Waqar as coaches behind close door.

True. One thing that never stops. :afridi

There is another: our neighbours’ obsession with the age of our players. Just today I have seen a few posts even from new posters, just inquiring about age of players..... bhai rishta bhejna hai kia

Agree with Mamoon on Talat Hussain - he was much better than slogger Asif Ali, and he did quite well when he played for Pak.

Just checked the scorecard and i saw Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez in playing XI. Thing is young Pakistan fans (in their 20s) can never feel nostalgic about cricket, because there is no past tense when it comes to Pakistani cricketers!

I think Malik has done a good job today considering what was needed on this wicket.

I still think ideally we should only take one off Malik or Hafeez Forward. Hussain Talat was technically decent to build the in innings, yes he struggled to finish the matches but then he was being played at no3 by the previous management which wasnt something he was used to. Talat was the best young batsmen in this year’s national T20 cup too:

Had it not been for Malik's sensible batting the score card would have looked like 5 or 6 down with 8-9 runs and over required from the last 5. As soon as he came in the chase looked like a breeze.

Please be happy with your fake ranking. Clearly the most undeserving team to be no 1 on any format in the history of the game. Don't be so 'Salty' at people for pointing out this simple fact. This is even funnier than when you became no 1 in test ranking for a couple days lol.

Never knew you would become this kind of poster when you debuted. :smith

I mean that the no 1 team in a certain format needs the services of an ancient relic like Malik to chase 140 at home against the lowest ranked team. Speaks volume of the credibility or the lack of it of the t20 ranking system. This makes me sad as a cricket fan to see an undeserving team sitting at the top, albeit in the most casual format of the game. It has nothing to do with any rules and regulations. Just my observation and opinion.

Babar fails and Pakistan are struggling to chase 140 runs against a Shakib-less Bangladesh.

It just goes on to show how heavily dependent we are on Babar's runs to give this mediocre batting line up a boost.

Malik has won this game there is no doubt about his 20 20 credentials but hafeez the less said the better...edges everywhere

We did not reach the number 1 rank due to this team. Since Misbah took over, there have been more than five changes each series. We will inevitably go down in the rankings soon enough and deservedly so.
