In light of actions taken in India, is it time to answer in the same currency or will that be a petty and useless gesture?

It would be equally petty and useless. Better to take the high road.

Our cricket is interesting - Test ODI or T20.

Kohli, Dhoni, et al are household names even in Pakistan, so it won't be a fun move for the Pakistani cricket watching public, or they'll find a stream somewhere anyway.

No Pakistani I know watches Indian games, heck most Pakistanis sometimes barely watch Pakistan games. Noone wants to switch on the TV and see us play in an empty stadium with 10 howling people holding a stuffed toy. I love Kohli, probably my favorite player at the moment but I don't think I'd put on a stream just to see him. Nothing to do with hate, just a simple fact.

Until they lose their superiority complex and relations normalise, yes. Ind are advocating destruction the of PK, we should have nothing to do with them.

No one cares about Kohli and Dhoni enough to go and watch their streams. Its mainly their personalities, not Indian cricket. The fact that IPL rights went unsold in Pakistan last year is a proof in itself that Indian cricket is not sellable to anyone (outside India or their NRIs like you!)

Fair enough then. In that case, a ban will have little effect.

Well there was no broadcast of IPL last year. Don't think there's much interest and it's not really reported in the news much either. Though I am sure there are some people who watch via streams etc. and keep track of the scores from time to time.

Interestingly, PP has been inundated by messages from Indians on our Facebook page. A lot of guys are wanting to know why DSport isn't showing the matches and are asking for alternative options. Some asked for PP to stream the match :91: of course that isn't possible.

Sigh...the janta here has been adulterated with candyfloss T20 franchise leagues and are simply looking for their fix.

Exactly, and it should not be there in the first place. There should be no restriction on watching whatever content you desire.

And indians say they're peaceful.
Look at what's happening to rashid latif's channel caught behind. He's getting so much hate that he had to disable his comments and is getting more dislikes than likes.
He shouldn't have posted about india anyways and i'm sure he won't anymore

Ofcourse I didn't mean to be aggressive, you;re by far the best Indian poster here who posts not to troll but debate.

No offense taken - sane folks on both sides of the border know that this is merely a week-long slugfest that will be vitriolic while it lasts, but will come to a typically tame end after all the political mileage has been extracted.

Not worth losing one's cool over, and certainly not reason enough to stop watching select cricket matches!

whats to gain? india exists, pakistan exists, just cos a group may choose to shut the other out doesn't negate the fact.

i also would find it surprising if state actions actually had any great effect when information is so readily available.

eh who cares honestly. This is their internal issue. Let them stress over it. Pakistani's aren't bothered by all this and shouldn't be either.

I don’t think anyone takes keen interest in IPL ir indusn matches so not a big deal but it will not show a good message, Nothing will be gained or lost.

When a dog barks you do not start barking in reply. India is barely ever discussed on Pakistani media anyway. I don't think there is coverage for IPL. There was one anti-national channel, GEO, that used to air Indian dramas a few years ago but seeing how nobody watched them they have pulled those.

Pakistan shouldn't treat India as a special case. I think this is a big mistake on India's part in that they seem to focus too much on Pakistan and it looks unseemly for a country which wants to be seen as a world influence.

If there's an appetite for Indian content then might as well allow it. Although can't imagine that many people would want to watch an IPL with no Pakistani players.

IPL banned Pakistani players 10yrs back. I guess that tells you how much they care about the Pakistani audience.

Yeah maybe that's why IPL tried to sell viewing rights in Pak every year until they went unsold last year.

Nah, we don't need to stoop to their level of pettiness, i.e., "oOh wE gOnNa bAn tHe bIg BaD pSl bOoGeYmAn". :)))

IPL sold its global rights for $2.55 billion to one company. IPL doesnt go around hawking it rights to any country. Poor you.

Dear MenInG

Men should not be inspired by donkeys.

I am very sure that people of Pakistan will not stoop to the level Indians have under an uneducated hindu extremist leader.

People of Pakistan will rise above hate like they always have.

Let India consume itself in this hate and destroy all the good things they once had when they followed the legendary Jawahar Lal Nehru's dreams into the 21st century.

Bismillah.

Every gheirat mand Pakistani should boycott everything Indian but knowing our awaam, they will be rushing to cinema to watch the next bollywood movie. I have stopped buying Dabur Hajmola :inzi2.

Does anyone in Pakistan even watch IPL? The rights wouldn't have gone unsold if there was any interest.

Lets hope not

We are not really in the position to pull off such stunts

Indian Drama's and movies have high viewership in Pakistan. Even if you talk about cricket, i think Ten Sports is owned by India(someone correct me if i am wrong), and that channel is much better than the crap we have called GEO Super and PTV Sports. Those channels dont even have proper desks or mics for discussion.

Ten sports straight drive is a great show after the match to tune in for the discussion.

This is where we make a mockery of our selves. We haven't be able to progress to even boycott Indian Content.

As for the IPL, i haven't watched a single game of it after the 2007 event. But there are often people who watch IPL.
Often shop keepers watch it as its the only entertainment they have got. IPL is like WWE for some here.
There is a reason why GEO has been buying its rights as it has viewership and thats nothing to be ashamed. PSL has viewership in India which is why D sports bought the rights.

But i am not sure, i think IPL rights were not bought last year, dont know if this was political or basis on Cost Benefit Analysis.

I don't watch any Indian Cricket at all. Yes ban them just like we have their movies.

*** for tat like always. Ban overhead flying rights as well

No Pakistan should not follow stupid and kiddish behaviour of India
They removed portraits of Pakistani cricketers
Pakistan should not
Let them do what they want but Pakistan should not fall to that low level

No need to boycott. Best to reply with genuine gestures of peace and love between the common people. Hopefully, one day some of the extremists politicians on both sides will calm down and the media will show good positive news to there publics, rather than the negative exagerated hatred at the moment they show, which only makes joe public more angry.

Indian content has had a major role in the poor content that has been coming from Pakistan in the last decade on TV that is.

Everywhere you see it is only indian shows, serials, songs and movies being played which in retrospect killed the Pakistan entertainment industry as people were brainwashed by "saas bahu" "women and people turning into snakes" types of serials which then Pakistanis have imitated and made their industry worse.

Only a few people I know have done some really good work over the years and it is about time there should be some restrictions on the indian content being filtered through to Pakistani televisions as it is no Pakistani channels are aired in India.

Agreed 100 %. Similarly, our news channel are following Indian pattern and are regressing every day.

They are the worst as every second day there seems to be a new news channel popping out.

Pakistan most probably has one of the most number of news channels around the world.

There is very little viewership of Ipl & Indian TV in Pakistan so ban or not it won't effect a lot as they will use other channels to see. IMO Pakistan shouldn't do this as after month or two you don't have to revert the decision shamelessly.

Few years back, PTV sports asked to postpone a domestic game (Quid E Azam trophy I think) to accomodate IPL final coverage. IPL is a money making machine everywhere.

because at that time there was no psl.:genius last year ipl was not sold in pak due to exact reason

So when you want find a reason for the poor quality of your own pakistani content it is due to Indian shows that is shown everywhere. But according to other posters above no one watches Indian content. Make up your mind. There are millions of Indian DTH connections in pakistan. Transferring money to those channels through thugs itself is a huge business running into 100s of crores. So yeah there are lot of people in pakistan who watch indian content
