Discrimination can happen which is unfourtanate, however he still got the oppertunity to play for Pakistan, if religion was an issue they would have not selected him in the first place. Also Some Indian Muslims players face discrimination as well, they might not come out and say it, due to fear, but they face it as well

If a national team player faces this discrimination by his international team members, what's the condition of the ordinary man?

Don't talk rubbish now. No Indian player has said he faced discrimination.

You can take your stories elsewhere.

Indian players had their house pelted with rocks and even burned.

I remember reading an article where Pakistani players had to live in Chadigarh stadiums guest room, maybe it was changed at the last minute..

However, the security arrangements were as such, https://crickethighlights.com/2011/...ersus-pakistan-semi-final-icc-world-cup-2011/. Thus this refutes the point of the poster that presidential security isnt required when infact it is for Pakistan.

Yet the 2009 tournament couldn't be hosted, as India fails to do so when elections taking place.

1. Again how that concerns Pakistan?

2. Your remembrance isn't proof. Please provide a reference or accept you lied.

3.From the very article you provided

"Security is given high priority as Prime minister of both the countries will be coming to see this semi- final of the cup which counts the most. Many diplomats from the both the country and fans from across the border will present on the ground. Police is taking no chance and security has been tightened since Saturday."

Ofcourse presidential level security is needed when you have two PMs in attendance.

4. The Congress government was one of the most incompetent we have ever had. That's why they were kicked out of power. They did this to spite off the then IPL commissioner Lalit Modi, who was close to BJP.

There is no problem for any cricketer in India just bcoz they are muslim. India's two premium fast bowlers are muslim. I don't see a single hindu player in PCT though, so the problem is and has always been one sided. Though thats a different debate all together but pls don't bring this muslim card.

Pak team visited India in 2016 under same BJP rule and after URI attacks. At that time supposedly beef lynchings (all lies) were at its peak. Did anything happen to Pak players? If anything, they got massive support at Eden Gardens. In that game between Pak and BD, majority of crowd were rooting for Pak.

PCT will be safe in India as always. Lets be honest, even PCB knows it and thats why they are saying if India comes to Pak for Asia cup then they will go to India, otherwise it will be a security problem. :))

I specifically mentioned Pakistani Muslims, and they are not safe in your country with the extreme rhetoric that is prevalent across the nation.

PCB can do whatever they want for money, but I for one will be comfortable with the idea of not sending our cricketers to a country where reports of Muslims getting beaten up and threats of being sent to Pakistan are so common.

With respect to the threats of the ICC doing so and so, they can go ahead and do whatever they want aswell. If PCB doesn’t get approval from the Pakistan government, there is not much they can do anyway. This is the exact pattern BCCI has established, so if the PCB does it and ICC jumps in, it will get ugly.

Not rubbish its true Indian muslims face discrimination everyday, your going to tell me Indian Muslims do not have problems or face discrimination, if players have not stood up due to fear and safety does not mean it does not exist.

presidential security was given to the team aswell, outside the place where they were staying.

Security does concern Pakistan, taht Indian fans can end up hurting others in crowd

PCT is ready to play in Chennai and Kolkata?

Is some armchair geopolitics expert helping them with these u-turns? :))

There has been no dialogue between the PCB and the ICC/BCCI with regards to the World Cup, as of yet. You have the PCB chairman categorically denying any such dialogue.

Yet you have these ‘rumors’ speaking for the PCB, ironically from Indian sources :))

That is something I think we both agree with i.e if PCB is not comfortable they should skip the world cup and not send the team to India. There is an ICC event now every year anyway and not like before where world cups used to happen only once in 4 years.

The only issue with it is BCCI/India will also host multiple other ICC events in near future. Will PCB skip all of them? I think they should and stick to their stance like BCCI has done over the years. I mean 2025 CT is supposedly in Pakistan but there is no question of Indian team going there. It is absolutely non-negotiable for BCCI to send its cricket team to Pakistan anytime in near future for any events WC/CT/Asia cup...whatever. PCB must also take such strong stance if they genuinely feels Pak players wont be safe in India.

This thread is a good example of ICC's incompetence. Why is the ICC silent? There is uncertainty in the air. No schedule released for the WC. They can end all this.

The ICC is the governing body for crying out loud. Do some governing.

Just come out say this is what is going to happen. This how things are going to be. Put an end to all the speculation.

I guess I am expecting too much from an organization steeped in greed and selfishness.

and as usual, indians will defend everything blindly. People who would go to Jio app or website are the niche cricket die hard fans, casual fans are in greater number and they watch highlights casually on social media

Come on. People who are in Twitter or YouTube looking for highlights can go to jio website and do the same thing. All major broadcasters have started restricting content to their platforms , this is the model forward and even as a casual I won't mind to check few clips if it's available in hot star or jio or Amazon.

only die hard fans do that. anyways, no point arguing, you will defend anything even though its a disadvantage for you...

bro, i am telling you the issues which a big disadvantage for indian fans. Like i said you guys go gaga that look at the amount of money BCCI or IPL gets, while ignoring that fans are not given access to things and have to pay for subscription or go on other websites to watch clips.

THat rinku singh last over innings, only came out 3-4 days later on social media.

Anyways, i dont really care. Just telling the Indian fans that stop defending each and everything as if you are getting the money

Your name and DP suggests your way of thinking and quantifying things. Reality is bitter for many Pakistani fellas. Stop living in 90s when we used to be quite comfortable and khushaal. This is new world, new system, new politics, a new diploamacy and unfortunately you people have been left behind.

By baycotting the ICC event, Pakistan will get same benefits as they get by baycotting IPL in 2008. Hybrid model is not suitable for just one country. If for example pakistan play all their matches in Bangladesh/UAE, then all other opposing teams will have to travel to this country adding complexity in logistics, visas and so many things. and if pakistan reaches semifinal or final then have to come to India eventually.

What pakistan can do is to forfeit match against India, this way they can protest their rights in a more civilized way and can put some minor damages to indians and BCCI but eventually it will result in profit sharing loss among other cricket boards for sure.

Najam sethi is a very sensible and diplomatic person and i know he will find a most favourable way to rescue pakistan from this situation.

We are already isolated from the world in terms of relations, trade etc and dont want to get isolated in sports like cricket

Believe me I am not a fan of current BCCI and their operating model. They are a business house which is all about minting money without any consideration for players or fans. But specifically this particular point that we have been discussing in terms of highlights not available on YouTube but only on Jio is a non issue.

Yeah, maybe there is lack of context and awareness. I have seen even daily wagers watching IPL on the go on public transport. Or for that matter any stream or video.

You pay 200-300 rs a month for daily 1.5 to 2gb of 4G data. Enough to stream IPL matches.

Highlights, full matches, wkts or 4s or 6s are all available on JIO. Highlights wkts 6s 4s are also on IPL website.

Stay on topic please. IPL thread is there for IPL stuff.

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has emerged as the front-runner to host the high-profile India vs Pakistan match in the ICC 50-over World Cup scheduled for October-November, the first match between the two arch-rivals on Indian soil since 2016.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to host the high-voltage match at the Ahmedabad stadium in anticipation of a large number of fans who are expected to travel to India from abroad for the fixture, it is learnt. With a seating capacity of 1 lakh, the Narendra Modi Stadium is the country’s largest.

The BCCI will be announcing the World Cup schedule at a grand launch once the Indian Premier League, currently underway, is over, it is learnt.

If everything goes as per schedule, the 50-over World Cup will kick off from October 5, with Nagpur, Bengaluru, Trivandrum, Mumbai, Delhi, Lucknow, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Rajkot, Indore, Bengaluru and Dharamshala being short-listed as venues, even for practice fixtures.

Of these venues, however, only seven will host India’s league matches. Ahmedabad could be the only venue where India play two matches, provided the team makes it to the final.

It is learnt that Pakistan could end up playing most of their matches in Chennai and Bengaluru due to security reasons. Kolkata’s Eden Gardens is also being considered as a venue. Similarly, Bangladesh could also play most of their matches in Kolkata and Guwahati as it would reduce the travel distance for fans from the neighbouring country.

With October-November being the monsoon season, the BCCI is planning to wrap up the matches in the country’s southern parts before the first week of November.

The Indian Express has learnt that the BCCI also consulted with the Indian team management and sought its preferences for the matches, apart from the one with Pakistan.

The Indian team, sources said, requested the BCCI to allot fixtures against Australia, England, New Zealannd and South Africa to venues that aid spinners. It told the board that it prefers slow pitches as it wants to maximise the so-called home advantage, a trend it has been following over the past few years.

“The Indian team has performed well on slow tracks in the past few years at home. So the team management had requested that whenever the schedule is being prepared the Indian team should face top teams on slow pitches. They wanted to have a home advantage,” a source in the BCCI said.

Sources said the state units have already given their wish list to the BCCI, but a call on allotment of the matches to venues would be taken only by the BCCI. But they added there’s a strong chance of Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium hosting India’s match against Australia, while games against New Zealand, England, South Africa will be played in other centers where pitches will be slow.

The BCCI has earmarked more than Rs 500 crore to upgrade stadiums across the country before the 50-over World Cup. BCCI secretary Jay Shah had earlier stated that the board will be upgrading its infrastructure, with clean toilets, easy access and clean seats the top priorities after recent criticism over the condition of stadiums.

Strange so is the objection to the name of the stadium?

As per the sources, PCB is most likely to get permission from its government to participate in World Cup in India in light of a recent statement by the country's Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari's statement during his visit to Goa, India for attending Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO)'s moot.

"Sports should be kept separated from politics and foreign policy"

"Pakistan may not agree to play against India at Narendra Modi Stadium due to certain reasons"

Don't think Ind vs Pak game would be in Gujarat anyway. All report suggest it will be played in Chennai.

But what if both India and Pakistan reaches final? Considering its scheduled to play in Narendra Modi stadium with the man himself will be present to hand over the trophy, don't think ICC will change the venue.

Not strange. Pakistan can demand matches not to be played in Narendra Modi stadium considering their stance towards Indian PM.

They can also demand PM to banned from any event during WC also.

It's upto ICC and BCCI to see how to handle such demands.

How about Pakistan giving Walkover to Ind vs Pak game in WC, that will hurt some ba11s

Pakistan seek changes in two Indian venues for 2023 ODI World Cup matches: Report

The 2023 World Cup is set to be played in India from October 5 to November 3. While it will be the fourth time that the tournament will be played in India, this will also be the first time that the country hosts the tournament exclusively. India had co-hosted the World Cup with either Pakistan, Sri Lanka or Bangladesh in the past.

The run-up to the tournament hasn't been without controversy though, most of it around Pakistan's participation in the tournament. There had been speculation as to whether Pakistan would refuse to travel to India after the latter refused to play matches in the country during the upcoming 2023 Asia Cup due to security reasons.

The latest development seems to be that Pakistan are asking for changes in venues for two matches in the tournament. While the official schedule is not out yet, it has been widely reported that Pakistan will face India in Ahmedabad. Apart from this, they are also set to face Afghanistan in Chennai and Australia in Bengaluru.

According to Cricket Pakistan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are set to ask for a swap of the two matches. The report states that some officials believe that India has intentionally proposed matches in venues where the Pakistan team may encounter challenges related to pitch conditions, practice facilities, and travel arrangements.

The ICC is yet to release a schedule for the World Cup. However, according to ESPNCricinfo, India and Pakistan are set to face each other at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 15. England and New Zealand will face each other in the first match of the tournament on October 5 in what will be a replay of the thrilling 2019 World Cup final. India will launch their campaign against Australia in Chennai on October 8.

If there is genuine concern around practice facilities and travel arrangements, then stadium should be barred from holding any match at all and travel agency should be changed. If BCCI fails to make proper traveling arrangements, then hosting right should be taken away.

Pitch condition should not be allowed as excused as ICC will be in charge of pitches.

Has any team ever asked for change of venues because the conditions don't suit them?

India also playing against NZ in Dharmshala which can help NZ seamers. Pakistan's demand of not playing against Afg in Chennai is unjustified. Not to forget PCB specifically asked for Chennai for some Pak matches.

Lolololol
Which jokers have been hired in this 'analytics and strategy' team of PCB?

Never thought I'd see the day Pakistan was scared of playing Afghanistan on a turning track.

It would be great if after the masterstroke planning venues get switched and Aus hammers Pak in Chennai and Rashid slices them up in Bengaluru

Strange request from PCB and it shows how timid their team is. It is definitely poor attitude to have before the start of a tournament. If they think they cannot beat another international team at a venue, they should not be even playing the WC, if not any international matches.

Seems this is still an issue

As per a media report

According to a PCB spokesperson, the board “requires the Government of Pakistan’s clearance for any tour to India, including the match venues”.

“We are liaising with our government for guidance, and as soon as we hear something from them, we will update the Event Authority [ICC]. This position is consistent to what we had told the ICC a couple of weeks ago when they shared with us the draft schedule and sought our feedback,”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is still apprehensive about sending its team to India for the ODI World Cup but International Cricket Council (ICC) is "confident" that the Babar Azam-led team will compete in the 50-over showpiece.

The ICC on June 27 announced the fixtures for the October 5-November 19 tournament and rejected PCB's request to not schedule their matches in Chennai and Bengaluru against specific teams.

PCB did not want to play Afghanistan on a spin-friendly track in Chennai and also wanted to avoid facing Australia in Benglauru.

As part of the announcement in Mumbai, it was confirmed that Pakistan will lock horns with India in Ahmedabad on October 15 and take on Australia (October 20) and Afghanistan (October 23) at pre-decided venues.

Soon after the announcement, the PCB made it clear that its participation in the ODI World Cup will be subject to government clearance.

"Our participation in the World Cup and us playing in Ahmedabad on October 15 or in Mumbai if we qualify for semi-finals will all be dependent on government clearance," said a PCB official.

The PCB official said the government has not yet issued any NOC to the PCB to travel to India and since it was a sensitive issue, the Board can only move forward after getting clear directives from its government.

"We have already informed the ICC that our participation in the tournament or any issues over venues is linked to firstly the PCB getting clearance from the government to travel to India," the official said.

Pakistan have a signed participation agreement to compete and the world governing body "100% expects them to be there and has had no indications to the contrary".

"All members have to abide by the rules and the laws of their country and we respect that. But we're confident Pakistan will be in India for the men's cricket World Cup," an ICC spokesperson told PTI. Pakistan last played in India in 2016 in the T20 World Cup. The two teams play each other in the ICC events and Asia Cup due to the tense relations between the two countries.

The ICC not entertaining Pakistan's request to relocate two matches was on expected lines as it usually addresses concerns over venues on potential security threat and not on cricketing grounds. With the elections for the post of PCB chairman now postponed at least until July 17, it remains to be seen how the Board reacts to the World Cup schedule announcement.

With the Balochistan High Court issuing a stay order against the holding of elections for the Chairman's post on Monday on petitions filed by two former members of the PCB's cricket management committee, confusion reigns in Pakistan cricket at the moment.

After Najam Sethi's resignation, the Board is being run by interim chairman Ahmed Shehzad Farooq Rana.

Zaka Ashraf, nominated for the chairman's post, has to win votes of the Board of Governors to officially take charge of the key post.

If Pakistan quit then is it possible to introduce another team (3rd team ) from the ODI world cup qualifier ???

Don't worry. They ain't quitting. Pak will come to India and play WC as per schedule. Or max few changes in venue which too is unlikely to happen.

Wasim Akram speaking to reporters

"There’s no issue with it. Pakistan will play wherever they are assigned to play. Simple. This unnecessary stress of ‘we won’t play in Ahmedabad’…you ask Pakistani players, they don’t care wherever their schedule comes,”

“I’m all for egos. If you have an ego and understand that what’s happening is wrong, then speak up. But again, move on then. Always plan it, always think if we can do it? Can we finish what we’ve planned to do? If we can’t, then don’t do this. It ends up becoming a cause for laughter. We’re all patriotic for our country. And they will be for their country. No doubt about it. But end of the day, it’s only a game. Governments will speak to each other, that’s their problem,”

PCB

This position is consistent to what we had told the ICC a couple of weeks ago when they shared with us the draft schedule and sought our feedback.”

Kamran Akmal in an interview:

“Conditions, venues shouldn’t be a concern for teams anymore. These things shouldn’t happen in international cricket. Today, India beat Australia, South Africa, New Zealand on their own turf. We shouldn’t be making excuses like why we are playing against Afghanistan in Chennai, or India in Ahmedabad. Your focus should be on cricket only,”

“It’s my request to board members, stop doing making such low-standard requests. The level of international cricket has advanced now. Players should be proud of their achievements, they should know what the fans and the board expect from them. You shouldn’t say such things and instead pull down the level of your cricket,”

Report - ICC & BCCI Are In No Mood To Negotiate Anything With PCB.

If They Want To Play World Cup They Are Welcome , If Pakistan Don’t Come, ICC Has An Back Plan For That As Well.

Looks like the PCB has lately developed an ego that India vs Pakistan is the biggest attraction of any tournament, and they can use that to their advantage to get things their way.

Looks like the PCB has lately developed an ego that India vs Pakistan is the biggest attraction of any tournament, and they can use that to their advantage to get things their way.

Can backfire very badly .

PCB won't do anything and will come to Ahmedabad to face India on 15th. These are all hollow threats. Had there been a real security threat, BCCI themselves would never let Pak team play there. Apart from Mumbai, Pak team is safe everywhere in India and reason why BCCI never allow Pak team to play in Wankhede. Infact, if Pak reach semi final and if it happen to be in Mumbai, the venue will be changed. So lets cut down the security concern bcoz BCCI knows what it is doing.

Pak team, if decide to play its cards, will be a revenge tactics for Asia cup which is understandable but nothing to do with security. The only card that PCB can play is to forefiet India game and conceede 2 points. Many teams have forefeited world cup matches before...so it won't be anything new. Considering Indo-Pak match will generate a lot of revenue, PCB can cause a fair amount of damage to the ICC. They can play all other world cup games in India and forefiet India match which is the only card PCB can play now. They won't get sanctions from ICC either doing so as its just 1 game. The only issue will be, losing 2 points can be crucial in a cut throat tournament like world cup but Pak team if plays well in other matches can still qualify for Semis even with forefieting India game.

Lets abandon Pakistan’s participation.

How dare do Pakistanis have a moment of joy in their lives watching cricket

Basit Ali speaking on his YT:

"I am hearing on news channels and YouTube that Pakistan may not be willing to play their matches in Ahmedabad and one more venue. Why not? ICC's schedule for the World Cup is a huge advantage for Pakistan. If 1,25,000 come to attend the match in Ahmedabad, the pressure is on India, and not Pakistan. If India was to play the Asia Cup in Pakistan, then pressure would have been on Pakistan,"

"Afghanistan is a weak team - yes, they have good spinners - but wherever the schedule has been finalised, just play. This is nonsense. I keep hearing that Pakistan may not get the permission. Of course, they will. Boss, it's not some local tournament. It's a bloody World Cup"

This is the best time to play India in a World Cup and end the real streak and in front of 1,25,000 people. The pressure is well and truly on India at a time the team looks the most vulnerable in many years.

The streak was not only broken but quashed in ICC Champions trophy, Asia Cup and the world Cup.

What a ridiculous post. "Only option Pakistan has is to forfeight India game". Pakistan has the option of pulling out of the tournament all together. Pakistan will have ample opportunities in the future to play world cups and ICC tournaments. There is like one every year these days lol.

The streak was not only broken but quashed in ICC Champions trophy, Asia Cup and the world Cup.

Correction.
The extended streak was broken.

The real streak belongs in the 50 overs world cups.
Nothing to boast though, I expect that to be broken this year.

This seems to be a threat of sorts

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leader Sandeep Deshpande objected to a one-day cricket match scheduled between India and Pakistan in Ahmedabad as part of the ICC Men’s World Cup tournament.

“Those who attacked and killed our soldiers and laid honey traps for our officials...Should we play with such a nation?” asked Deshpande.

The leader raked up the Pakistan-backed terror attacks, the burnt of which India had to bear in the recent past.

“Remember that it has been Pakistan behind all the attacks (terror). Should we welcome such a nation? This isn’t about politics, but the nation,” said the MNS leader.

“When such matches take place, their people (Pakistani citizens) also come with their flags. Should we tolerate this? The discussion should be held throughout the nation,” he added.

He said the entire nation must discuss the matter, adding that his questions were addressed to both those in the government and the opposition.

However, the leader clarified that what he said were his emotions and the party’s stand would be shared by its chief Raj Thackeray.

Cricket is not the only thing that the MNS has objected to in regard to Pakistan. In December last year, the party warned cinema hall owners against screening the Pakistani film "The Legend of Maula Jat," which was up for release in Maharashtra.
