Question on many people's minds - especially on YKs!
So should PCB do it?

Absolutely 100% yes, after all Khan has done for Pakistan it is only fitting that we give him the ultimate honour as captain, the previous run wasn't great due to politics but now would be a great time to reward him. On top of that it would be great for the team and Sarfraz to be guided under Khan's leadership during this rebuilding phase. And just to add, I rather have a team with Khan in it then without; Khan does not need Pakistan but Pakistan most definitely need him so if we bend the rules a little bit then it is completely fine, we can do that for special players and one of the greatest of all time if not the
Please don't retire Younis!
Shaz, I understand and respect your love for Khan and there is nothing wrong with that. He's a great player and what not but why do we need to honor these players by giving them exactly what they want? Afridi fans wanted Farewell series for him and now Younis fans want captaincy as a farewell gesture?
I fail to understand why captaincy is treated as a reward. It is a tough job that not a lot of people can honor.
What does captaincy even have anything to with the fact that he's been a good man for Pakistan? Please lets not start another trend and have each and every retiring cricketer asking to lead Pakistan as the last hurrah. Sure, he can carry on as a player, that's up to him and he certainly merits a spot as of now but at this age and given his temperament, giving him captaincy, or as you put it "awarding" him captaincy would be the stupidest thing to do.
You have a point I suppose can't really argue against it but Khan reminds me a little of KP in that both want a bit of love but never really get it and go rogue
are you open to him continuing as a batsman though?
I understand. I guess we all have small biases for certain players. Somewhere deep down inside, I still want Misbah to continue but I never say it on PP because I know I'm gonna be bashed for life.)
Always was. After that marathon knock of 200 and then the 175*, only a fool would drop him. However, after saying things like, "I'm not gonna overturn my decision regardless of how good a series I have in WI" or "I'm retiring for good", I think its best for him to retire and avoid tarnishing is great, great legacy.
Am the opposite in that way, don't be afraid to open up Express bhai you have the bear in your corner! At their very best both Misbah and Younis in their prime are incredibly valuable and folk you'd take in the team without a second thought but unfortunately their time has past. I don't think Khan as captain is the best idea but do want him to continue as a batsman, was just not prepared for his retirement announcement and with these rumours coming out it confirms the premature nature of his announcement lol
I voted Yes because deep down my heart I want him to stay near the team and groom Fawad Alam and Usman Salahuddin/Haris Sohail. Plus, he has been the best captain of this century for Pakistan who was tactically very sharp but had his own stern personality which made many players as his rebels who were playing under his captaincy.
If not as a captain, why can't we use him at NCA alongwith Yousaf to groom our next generation of batsmen like Imam ul haq, Hussain Talat and others ?
Fawad has played 135 FC matches.
Usman 92.
Haris 57.
They aren't newbies, they can handle themselves.
Having said that, he can be a good batting coach. But we don't need him to play till he's 50 to 'groom' the next generation of batsmen.
Batsmen need time to develop at international level, Haris and Usman haven't played any test matches, they are newbies at this arena. Fawad also played less than 5 test matches.
Who wants him to play till the age of 50? I want him to carry on for just one more year at the max. He can continue playing till 2018 tour of england.
So basically he has 3 test matches vs WI, 3 vs Bangladesh, 3 vs Sri lanka, 2 vs England and 2 vs Zimbabwe. Total of 13 test matches only.
Younis Khan has retired. He isn't taking back retirement. It's confirm.
Looks like the PCB have stabbed him in the back by leaking false rumours, now Pakistan fans are abusing him; something they've been holding inside and were waiting to get out but found it a bit hard because even the biggest idiot has to remain dignified when he's on the brink of retirement
Post Misbah he did want to lead Pakistan for 6-12 months and than retire as a Test Captain. Nothing wrong in having that wish.
Sheharyar Khan has no control over what to share with media and what not. He has been doing this from last 2 years. Ultimately Age catches up. His appointee is at fault.
Anyhow Younis can confirmed it on WhatsApp V.R that his retirement is final.
