I have heard that Ramiz is well connected in the Millitary Circles. Maybe this might explain how he has managed to survive so far.

I have heard that Ramiz is well connected in the Millitary Circles. Maybe this might explain how he has managed to survive so far.

Thats the only reason he still seems to be around, despite being a very close friend of IK and publicly supporting him during non-confidence motion.

Good for stability of Pakistan Cricket.

I am pleased he hasn't been removed, basically for one reason; there seemed to be a concerted orchestrated attempt at lobbying for the return of department cricket. While Ramiz is there, that won't happen.

I expect the longer we have a proper cricket structure the harder it will be for department cricket to come back so really important for the leadership at the PCB to be anti department cricket, not just pro the existing structure.

Wonder if that is deliberately to keep him guessing and working hard to keep his job

According to sources:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Khalid Mahmood met on Sunday to discuss the appointment of a new chairman

PM and Mahmood discussed different names, including Najam Sethi, Zaka Ashraf, and Mahmood himself, for the role of the next chairman of the national cricket governing body.

However, it appears that PM not in favour of this as he feels that the time is not right to make a change in the PCB.

Who is Khalid Mahmood?

Really no need to move him out as he is doing a decent job

he PCB General Body meeting took place at the National High Performance Centre on Monday, 20 June. In accordance with Clause 20 of the PCB Constitution 2019, the General Body considered and expressed their views on the audited accounts and PCB Annual Report, which are now available for viewing and downloading at the corporate website under Documents.

The General Body was also provided with a snapshot of Pakistan cricket and received a briefing on the steps and measures being taken to bolster Pakistan cricket’s foundations by strengthening grassroots cricket.

The General Body was informed the Pakistan men’s sides were presently ranked fifth in Tests and, third in ODIs and T20Is, while they are placed in fourth position on the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League, which is a qualifying event for the 2023 World Cup.

The General Body was updated on the busy and tough 2022-23 cricket season for the men’s side that includes the tour to Sri Lanka for two Tests and the ACC T20 Asia Cup, Netherlands for three ODIs and Australia for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in October. The subsequent home series includes split tours by England and New Zealand, while the West Indies will return for three T20Is in January/February 2023.

The women’s side will feature in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games and T20 World Cups in South Africa, while their ICC Women’s Championship fixtures will be against Ireland at home and away in Australia.

PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja also announced rewards of PKR1million each for the Pakistan blind and deaf cricket teams in recognition of their performances at the international level.

The General Body meeting was held following January’s elections of the Pakistan Deaf Cricket Association. This meant under Clause 24(1), the requisite quorum was available for convening the meeting.

PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja chaired the meeting, while Mr Syed Sultan Shah (Chairman, Pakistan Blind Cricket Council) and Mr Irfan Miraj (President, Deaf Cricket Association) also attended the meeting along with their office-bearers, who participated as observers on the special invitation of the PCB Chairman. PCB Chief Executive Faisal Hasnain and Chief Operating Officer Barrister Salman Naseer also attended the meeting as ex-officio members

Ramiz as a chairman hasn't done much wrong. We have successfully Hosted Australia for a full series at home after 24 years, the event was so significant that the aussies are now going to be releasing a documentary about that tour on Amazon Prime, we have successfully hosted WI twice, we got compensation from NZ, we successfully hosted a full PSL season at home without interruptions, we have more home series lined up, there are pending projects like the Pakistan Junior League U19 PSL and the women's PSL and some additional PSL issues to sort out going forward in the face of major competition.

To remove him now will be madness, we can't go back to dinosaurs like Khalid Mehmood.

The key is will he be replaced by anyone better.

If that's the case then fair enough, but if they are just going to replace him with a political appointment then that will be a huge mistake.

Will upbeat Ramiz Raja be able to continue as PCB boss?

LAHORE: While incumbent Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Ramiz Raja despite all rumours remains very confident publicly about his future in the PCB, one can recall his predecessor Ehsan Mani also gave positive signals about an extension for a second three-year term after completing his first in 2021. However, the facts at that time were telling a different story.

The talk in the country’s cricketing circles over Ramiz’s future as PCB chairman is in top gear these days, despite the fact that the former Test opener has categorically denied — more than once — all the reports signalling he is going to leave the PCB.

In the media conferences which he addressed in Lahore and Karachi earlier this week, Ramiz while facing several questions about his future as PCB chief sounded confident. The 59-year-old was particularly upbeat at the Karachi presser during which he said, “I am not going anywhere; should I write it on a stamp paper and give it to you?”

The debate over the fate of PCB chairman started when former prime minister Imran Khan, who brought Ramiz in the PCB as chairman in September 2021 after Mani completed his three-year tenure, was removed through a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly in April this year. As a result of the motion, PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif was elected as the new PM.

As a long held tradition in Pakistan cricket, every patron-in-chief of the PCB either as prime minister or president, elevates his like-minded person to the post of PCB chairman.

According to the two letters exchanged between principal secretary Azam Khan of then PM Imran Khan and the PCB, a few months before the end of Mani’s tenure the situation was not in his favour. However, in public reports coming out of the PCB, showed Mani will continue as the chairman for another three years.

One of the above-mentioned letters, written on June 28, 2021 by chief operating officer Salman Naseer, who is still working on the same post, stated: “Following the PCB chairman’s meeting with the PCB Patron last week, I have been advised to forward to you a draft of the Notification to be issued on behalf of the PCB patron, who is empowered by Clause 12(1)(b) of the PCB constitution to nominate two individuals to the PCB Board of Governors for a period of three years.

“A draft of the notification is enclosed herewith for your consideration and further necessary action. The draft incorporates the details discussed at the aforesaid meeting. Pursuant to issuance of the official notification, I will seek to coordinate with you in relation to the next step to be undertaken in accordance with the PCB constitution,” the letter added.

But in his reply written on July 6, eight days after receiving Salman’s letter, Azam raised an objection over the way the June 28 letter was directly sent to him instead of using the right channel of Inter-provincial Coordination (IPC) committee.

In his letter, Azam said, “Please find enclosed herewith a letter dated 28th June, 2021 on the subject cited above. 2. On perusal of the above-mentioned letter, the Prime Minister has been pleased to observe as follows: a. The manner of submission of cases for orders of the Prime Minister is specified, clearly and unambiguously, in Rule 15(2) of the Rules of Business. The same has not been followed; b. The Ministry of IPC, the controlling Ministry of the PCB, has been bypassed; c. The letter is addressed to the Secretary to the Prime Minister and the enclosed notification has been submitted for his perusal and further necessary action; and d. The letter has been written by the Chief Operating Officer, while the executive head of the PCB is its Chief Executive Officer 3. In view of the above, the Prime Minister, being Patron of the PCB, has been pleased to direct that Ministry of IPC shall, at the earliest but not later than seven days,“submit a summary for orders of the Prime Minister for nomination of two members on the Board of Governors of PCB in terms of Clause 12(1)(b), read with Clauses 5(1) and 12(5), of the PCB Constitution In the manner specified in Rule 15(2) of the Rules of Business, 1973.”

On Aug 26, 2021, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat in collaboration with the IPC committee issued the names of two nominees — retaining the name of Asad Ali Khan and including Ramiz in place of Mani.

Ramiz remains confident that his performance as PCB chairman carries weight. Therefore, it seems it will not be easy for the prime minister to replace him.

“Look, he [the prime minister] is the PCB patron-in-chief. I think if fans are with you and your performance also speaks [in your favour] then it will be difficult [for the authorities] to make a decision but he [PM] is the patron-in-chief and it is his call,” was Ramiz’s reply to a question about his future in the PCB during a presser recently.

Though an unnecessary change at the top is unwarranted, the same, one can recall, was made by Imran Khan as PM in replacing Najam Sethi. Sethi’s performance could not be termed bad and included three successful editions of the Pakistan Super League launched in 2016 and Pakistan’s triumph in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy. However, Imran very soon after taking charge in 2018 had replaced Sethi with Mani to uphold the tradition.

This article is not accurate. Sethi chose to resign. Imran did not axe him. Sethi's video and resignation letters are widely available online in 2018.

The government should stop meddling in sports.Let the professional run sports bodies.Sethi was appointed because he is a supporter of Sharif brothers. He knows nothing about cricket.

LAHORE -Former Pakistan Test cricketer Sarfaraz Nawaz on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is also Patron of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), to remove Ramiz Raja as PCB chairman after Pakistan team’s humiliating performances in the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia.

In a statement issued from London on Tuesday, Sarafraz said Ramiz Raja is no longer capable of running an institution like PCB as every Pakistani is disappointed over the shameful defeat of Pakistan cricket team against Zimbabwe in the World Cup.

“The national cricket team is seriously lacking proper training and management and as such Raja, being head of the institution, is more responsible for team’s poor showing and he has now failed to exhibit the qualities of maturity, professionalism and the grandeur required for such a prestigious post.”

The former pacer said Ramiz has failed to resume club cricket in Pakistan and has shown no interest in holding elections of cricket associations while the programme held for Youth Cricket Development has been a failure despite spending huge amounts.

“It is time to remove Ramiz before his temper and immaturity inflict further damage to Pakistan cricket.” He suggested appointment of Aamir Sohail as a coordinator to implement the orders of PM for the resumption of departmental cricket and relevant institutions,” Sarfaraz concluded

No

Team reached world cup final
Very difficult for pdm to sack him
And if things go gold team might even play in wtc final

At the moment Ramiz seems to have a lot of public support due to Pakistan reaching the T20 World Cup final and England touring Pakistan for a Test series.

However, as we all know, things can change very quickly in Pakistan cricket.

He went to get assurance for the Pindi test match

Again, are we to fill the posts just for the heck of it? What is the impact of this move? What were these posts contributing towards?

8 months later and Ramiz still hasn't appointed coaches at the NHPC. Yousuf and Saqlain are still listed on NHPC's coaching panel on PCB website !

Which cricket nation has a high performance academy running without permanent coaches ?
