You should watch matches between neutral teams in India... It will be full house & lot of cheering... (Best examples: WI vs England T20 WC 2016 Finals, Aus vs NZ ODI WC 1996 QF, etc... Ask Chris Harris & Carlos Brathwaite what is crowd support in India, they would never even dream that kind of cheering in their home grounds!)Do crowds in Australia and England jump up and down or run away from the stadium when the opposition plays well? They don't. They just acknowledge it with applause.![]()
Indian Crowd are multi-dimensional, yes they do go silent (and even violent) at times... But they will also appreciate and go crazy at opposition teams/players... Even India vs Pakistan 1996 Chennai Test, nobody thought Pakistan would get that kind of reception after a close victory (after heartbroken situation).
Yes I agree that some mentality should be changed (like going silent when opposition is top), but thats the nature of crowd here... But one thing you should agree, no other country will have full house (local crowd) during a big game between neutral teams (except Ind-Pak game where majority are from these two countries only and not much local crowd).
Yes England and Australian Crowd do applaud when opposition play good cricket, but they do it only when they play against their team. (In this way they are also patriotic) and they don't usually turn up for neutral games. In this way Indian Crowd are different...
