This Nortje guy could be a star for SA. With Kolpak ending next year, hopefully he'll get enough opportunities in SA.

He really has a lot of positive attributes going his way.
Extreme pace, good height, little bit of swing.

Would have been much better for SA in the WC but got injured and replaced by trundler Morris.

But but South African cricket is finished. :broad

This match is just a bilateral series. If we go by bilateral series, Bangladesh should be the best team in ODIs because they rarely lose in ODIs in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh beat India in the 2007 WC. Ireland beat England in 2011 WC. South Africa who are finished beat Australia in the WC.

Dammit every team is finished by your standards. Losing a game means you are finished. What is the point of watching cricket? Every player and team are rubbish and finished.

Ok if they are not finished then can you explain their defeats against India and England? Their pathetic form against SL?

Lol no team is winning in India in this current era. And they don't do well against England, they haven't beaten them in SA since 99. So even great South African teams haven't beaten England.

But you don't pay attention to my posts. I told you already South Africa will be a average test team for a few years. But they will be a very good LO team. The evidence they have shown in their home summer is they will be a strong LO team as they have competed against 2 of the 4 WC semi finalists.

If you think South African cricket is finished, don't watch their matches and save yourself sometime. But I can assure you they arent finished as a cricketing nations.

Australia is all about top 3 otherwise it is all bust so far

If they are a very good LO team then tell me why did they lose so badly to Australia in T20Is? Why did they finish below SL in WC? Why did they lose T20 series to England? Every team loses in India but none of them loses so badly like SA.

Come on people - no Rabada, Faf & Bavuma (he is quite handy LO player these days), lost Kock on 2nd ball, lost toss on a dry surface - still this SAF team is taking this game to dead end against a full-strength Australia..... and still people are not convinced!!!!

SAF is one of the strongest sports nation in world. Considering that just about 3 decades back 100% of their sportsmen used to come from a tiny population of 6-7 millions, their sports achievement is probably only comparable to Aussies. And, this sports talent is diversified - from Olympic events to Rugby, Golf, Tennis, Squash, Soccer, Cricket, Hockey, Boxing, Auto Racing.....

It'll take less than half a decade for them to return back to their glory - this time with non white majority team (s). They reached to among top two cricket teams of 1990s, after 20 years of complete isolation, won Rugby World cup three times with 12 years gap - 1995, 2007 & 2019. First time with a white only team, 2nd time with a mixed bag & last time with a black majority squad ..... it'll happen in cricket as well, as long as the game is popular there.

I was writing about which SENA team IND can beat now, away - unanimously, we agreed that it's SAF. Better be that series is within next 3 years, before this current Indian team is 3 years older and SAF fixes their house in order.

They lost to Australia because Australia are a better team and there is no shame in that.

They finished below Sri Lanka because they carried too many players who were injured or too old.

Now they are selecting new players they are doing better in LO as we can see from recent results and performances.

No Van Der Dussen or Pretorius as well.

What a player this kid Malan can turn in to!!! This is his 2nd ODI against Aussies and he is showing maturity like a 12 years veteran. Just noticed that even Rassi Van Du isn't playing either today - SAF is basically testing their bench against full strength Aussies and still might take an unassailable 2-0 lead, with Kock contributing nothing.

Malan has done a good job but Miller needs to step up today. He is an experienced player. SA badly need this win.

102 with 30 from boundaries, against Aussies - that should tell what a fantastic all-round player JM is. I sincerely hope that British Govt. blocks this backdoor called Kolpak, otherwise Poms will steal him.

You claim to be SA fan yet you have no clue about the quota system.

After Pakistan Australia is actually my 2nd team.

I am fully aware South Africa need to have a certain amount of coloured players in their line up.

Inexperience shown by Malan - hit a wonderful boundary, then 3 dots, should have just walked for a single. Still SAF should win here.

Malan is quality. Should be in the test team where are South Africa are really bad.

starc either bowls really well or bowls absolute garbage. he is way too erratic. in all formats.

Malan looking set for a massive innings here , looked very composed , asset for SA here

1. Malan
2. Kock
3. Markram/Verreynne/Bvuma
4. Rassi
5. Klaasen
6. Miller
7. Andile
8. Mahraj
9. Rabada
10. Ngidi
11. Shamshi
............

Not many teams will beat them in ODI.

Well played SAF, probably up to 285 was covered here. This kid Malan will go long, long way, if he stays in SAF.

starc and cummins are very tired from playing cricket non stop since november.

its better to rest them and play beherendorff and jhye richardson instead.

First of many, many hundreds for Malan. He has all the qualities to be right up there with de Kock, Gibbs, Kirsten etc.

South Africa have the ingredients to be a top ODI side again, and Australia continues to be their bunny in ODIs.

Looks a strong team to me.

south africa is back my brothers. They are back. They are still a gun odi and t20 team. vamos. well done. so proud of the boys. proteas for life.

only team with a h2h lead over Aussies in odi.

this could be true. But imagine india. India are actually playing the most amount of games. Series loss vs n.z was excusable given how much cricket they play. Kohli shami etc must be exhausted.

when Aussies are losing they are always tired. but when india loses oh no desi curry. we love to hate haha. padosi.

Good win for South Africa. It's relatively easier to fill up for previous generation players in LOs than in tests. They are getting back to being a top team in LOs now.

they will always be a powerhouse odi team. t20 I don't know but they are solid there as well.

Now it's only a matter odntime before Malan (janneman) and a few others explode in test cricket.

Pakistan will probably face the wrath of the saffers rofl soon when saffers tour.
