He has limitations. Not worthy of becoming a regular opener with the ball
 
Shan has lost the plot - made the same mistake defending 180 against BD. By choking boundaries he can’t defend 147 - just can delay the inevitable. There is absolutely no use of 3rd man, sweeper cover … even mid on.

Put 7/8 catching men around and give bowlers best chance to take 10 wickets - worst can happen is PAK will loose before lunch instead of after lunch.
 
Should be a easy win for SA. Our batsmen are not good enough to score even 250 runs in test. need to replace Shan, Babar, Shafiq and Rizwan ASAP.

Him Babar, Rizwan shouldn't be even in the team.

but babar and riz for tests are ok for me
 
Rambo earlier tried to take conversation from runs and hundreds to gritty 30s.
 
PAK can win at Newlands, if they bat first & bat well. But, Abbas won’t be this effective there - SSA should have been in Test squad as well.

Bvuma is a predominantly back foot player, pacers need to make him play on front foot and drive through V.

It's an inexperienced bowling unit. Got to give them some cushion for bad balls.

If South Africa were 1 or 2 down i would agree that you need to go All In but there is some room to play the waiting game here. All they need is 1 wicket to set the cat among the pigeons. Wickets fall in clusters here.

The pitch is misbehaving as well.

I believe, he has bullied PCB to allow him play there, otherwise absolutely no reason he shouldn’t be considered for SAF Test series.

Recently, Rishad was called back from BBL for conditioning camp while BD players were given 2 weeks guaranteed NoC for IPL - here SSA played few useless LOs and then not considered for a major Test series!!!!

Technically, he is as good as any one there - probably the best driver of the ball. But, he is extremely insecure, timid and often intimidated by the occasion more than the opponent. This is a culture imbedded in to PAK players by PCB and shaken captains, Babar himself is one of them.

Had he played under a captain like Khan or Akram, would have been all together a different player. His start as PAK player encompassed through an era when “safe” batsmen like Azhar Ali & Misbah were cherished as the saviour - couldn’t get rid of that mindset ever.

Wow Abbas hit 130kph. Well done. Bavuma almost caught at the boundary.
 
So unlucky Abbas. Naseem should have tried to save the six there instead of trying to take the catch
 
Saffers are winning it.. Don't have high hopes for these trundlers to do anything miraculously.
 
Abbas has been brilliant in this innings. Brings a certain consistency with the line and length that the other PAK bowlers lack.

The safe players had decent careers though and despite their limitations put high value on their wicket and made sure that while they weren't elite level bats they can do enough for their country in some tough times ( at least in home or UAE).

Babar is more talented than them for sure but he is also more timid, more lazy and has less self awareness than them.
 
yeah this looking like a L now ... the close misses on LWB & caught behind and now Naseem catches it but the momentum took him over the rope sighhhhhhhhh
 
Get a spinner in. Have him bowl round the wicket and target the pads. Pack the leg side field and hope that one straightens. You can target both edges that way. Variable bounce becomes a factor too that way.
 
Aiden markram averages 36 in test cricket. He is a poor test batsman.

But Pakistan struggle against him like he is bradman
 
Markaram is seeing the swing bowling like football outside off. You need to nip some balls in to him to make a chance

He is also not very good against spin. The older gen had their weaknesses but certain strong points too.

He is not a lock against any type of bowling or in any conditions. A jack of all, master of none so to say. Not easy to balance 3 formats but what can be said.
 
How does Bavuma score runs, he looks so limited as a batsman everytime I see him bat.
