South Africa are chokers!

Don't think they are chokers anymore. Constantly making knockouts, winning the WTC 2025 final proves South Africa have overcome the chokers tag.

They were bound to lose one match going by law of averages. Alas the loss came in a knockout match.

LOL... I told you guys that Proteas are gonna choke... They always do... ALWAYSSSSS.... People thought they broke the curse but naayyyy... WTC is a different ball game...they can afford to choke there in 1 session or so but in whiteball, they are a serial choker.... Sad but true

Choke is that team is having a beast of a tournament and suddenly, the team collapses as soon as the most important game comes... and it happened not once, not twice but 99 out of 100 times......Clear?

What the Proteas can learn from India and their World Cup domination

As a South African cricket follower, it was a major anti-climax when hosts India thumped New Zealand in the T20 World Cup final on Sunday, but it got me thinking - what can the Proteas learn from the men in blue and their dominant run in the ‘moer-en-soek’ format? It was almost boring as India posted their second successive 250-plus score in the knockout games of the World Cup.At least England gave India a decent run in their semi-final, before falling seven runs in pursuit of a mammoth 254 for victory.

Against New Zealand though, India bludgeoned 255/5 in their 20 overs and the Kiwis didn’t get close as they crashed to a 96-run defeat.

India’s Knockout Mentality vs. South Africa’s Struggles in T20 World Cup Finals
One of the reasons the final was something of a let-down is that I got the feeling that South Africa was the only team that could really challenge the mighty India. Of course, that’s because South Africa walloped their hosts by 76 runs during the Super Eights.

But that’s just it, with South Africa saving their worst performance of the tournament in their semi-final thrashing by the Kiwis - it showed the contrast between the Proteas and India.

Somehow, India find a way to really turn it on during the knockout games just as they did in 2024 when they beat South Africa in the final. In fact, South Africa were cruising to victory in that match before India adopted some willy time-wasting tactics, and some Jasprit Bumrah brilliance to steal the title from the Proteas.

There seems to be little difference in the ability of the playing personnel between South Africa and India, with perhaps the exception of Bumrah.

Therefore it comes down to mentality and being able to produce in those knockout matches, which has seen the Proteas come up short at every staging of the T20 World Cup.

Whether anything will change by the tournament remains to be seen, but hopefully the Proteas took note of why India are so good.

This is what other team fans are talking about. How to improve their game getting inspired by India

Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes South Africa should have deliberately lost against the West Indies during the Super 8 stage to knock eventual winners India out of the T20 World Cup 2026. He further added that had South Africa allowed West Indies to win against them at Ahmedabad, India's journey at the World Cup would have been over.

India lost the opening match of the Super 8 against South Africa at Ahmedabad. The 'Men in Blue' had to rely on other results due to their poor net run-rate and needed to win both their matches against Zimbabwe and the West Indies. However, that might not have been enough had the Windies beaten South Africa, as Shai Hope's team had already won their opening game against Zimbabwe.

The Proteas and India qualified from Group 1 of the Super 8s for the semifinals when Aiden Markram's South Africa defeated the West Indies, and India won their final two games.

Now, days after the T20 World Cup final, Vaughan stated that since India was the top team in the competition, South Africa should have tried to eliminate them.

“I tell you, who I think is the stupidest team of the tournament? South Africa. Because if South Africa had allowed the West Indies to beat them in the Super 8s, India would have been knocked out. I’m just saying – if they had cleared them out, the juggernaut that was coming would have stopped,” Vaughan said on the Stick to Cricket podcast.

Vaughan further added that the must-win nature of India's helped them gain momentum and eventually win the T20 World Cup.

“By winning that game, they allowed the juggernaut to go on. India then beat Zimbabwe, then the West Indies in a kind of quarterfinal, and then England. South Africa had to play Zimbabwe next, and they even rested three players for that match," he added.

They are not able to tolerate India winning all ICC events for last few years. So want other teams to fix matches just to eliminate India

:kp

England had a chance to beat WI in 2016 and India in 2026.. they screwed up but atleast they won 2022 one, so bhai calm down lol

Under the laws that’s actually illegal.

Vaughn's post reminded of 1996 WC , where Pakistan faced a tough choice for match against New Zealand. Winning meant Playing Quarter Final vs India in India. Losing meant playing Quarter Final vs Australia in Pakistan.
In the end Pakistan beat New Zealand comfortably but later lost QF to India.

A team with winning mentality doesn't care whom they will face

They just come with winning mentality
