What's new

South Africa end Day 2 of the 2nd Test at 382/6 as Pakistan bowlers toil with little success

And de bruyn out. Yeah this lineup in gonna bat well in 4th innings. Genius decision by gun captain Faf :))

Shaheen is too impatient. Had Faf edging on a near perfect delivery and then gets over excited and bowls a full one

Is this me or Yasir is the only 'chubby' player in our team? Surprised Mickey likes him

Easy bro, SA is well on top. They can chase down 150 easily. We won’t last long in 2nd innings

They won't chase 150. The only reason they are in this position is because Markram played a gem on what was a flat deck yesterday.

Azhar should have kept his fingers beneath. They should learn from their mistakes.
If we are not generally given the benefit of doubt then dont give them any doubts.

The umpire Ravi showed brains which ICC has no account for.
When an appeal is referred, the final decision and weightage should be of the 3rd umpire's and not of the field umpire

I think the ball touched the ground. Last match Elgar was clear out but this one and Kohli one (Perth) both looked not out. Anyhow ICC needs a major rule change.

Don't worry brothers. These guys won't last much now and they have to bat last against Abbas and Yasir . I agree with Robin here, if soft signal is out and there is no conclusive evidence to overturn it, it should be given out.

A lot of low catches, a small part of the ball touches the ground. The main thing is that the fingers are under it because there are gaps in your fingers and the ball is gonna slip through a little.

Regardless of the bowling performance the batting is to feeble to have any chances of remaining competitive

I'm undecided on the decision, but this is the second time that the soft signal has been made a mockery of. ICC needs to have a clear ruling on this.

I would distinguish this one from the Elgar "dismissal." This time, the fingers were not wrapped under the ball, unlike the previous match.

I agree.

Rotten slip catching technique, and the slips are still too deep.

Good decision.

Have you not seen pak bat? Give them a 100 lead they’ll still find a way to lose..

The whole argument is if the 3rd umpire is 100% convinced that the ball touched the ground and the fingers weren't under it. I don't think there was conclusive evidence on both occasions.

In the Elgar decision last match, Ravi was the on field umpire who gave it out but was overturned by 3rd umpire. Maybe umpires had a chat about it post match. IMO an on field umpire can never judge these catches from such a far distance, hell they miss no balls half the time standing 4 feet away. ICC needs to get rid of this absurd soft signal rule and always give benefit of doubt to the batsmen, force catchers to improve their techniques and gather it above the turf, need to take them cleanly.

Good to see consistency in the decision making. Serves azhar right for standing too far back. Take the damn catch cleanly or suffer this.

The ball hit his box. How does Sarfraz believe that ball was going to hit the stumps. Lol. What a brainless review. They really don't have brains do they.

Alright, so why was Kohli given out under similar circumstances, BECAUSE the third umpire had to have enough evidence to over turn the decision.

It's funny Indians whined to no end regarding that decision, yet have the guts to come over here and explain to us how it goes when it's Pakistan on the recieving end.

Can't believe this!!
Can't be happening twice.A joke of a decision from Ravi. How on earth was he 100% sure that the ball touched the ground and did he have the conclusive evidence to overturn the decision. Not so sure...

Shan Masood can’t become the skipper quick enough.

Sarfraz gets carried away and wastes reviews on ludicrous fishing expeditions.

I have not explained anything.
Biased umpiring is one thing.
Overturning LBWS to make people ATG is another thing.
Framing rules for all the benefit of cricketers or changing it as per the demand of times is another thing.

Simply put, if automation is made, why should it be manual again..

We're seriously lacking an intimidating figure in the team. No one that can give it back to the opposing team. Such a boring XI. They're too sweet and play like sheep.

Why speculate when technology is there to eliminate inconclusive decisions? Soft signal is so stupid. Why not allow an umpire to speculate & give a soft signal in run outs as well? Ridiculous.

Isn't he the leading run scorer for DA this series? How has Faf & de Bruyn performed before playing the race card?

What are you blabbering about? :))

All this confusion will be averted if third umpires are given complete powers and soft signal is done away with in contentious catches. India and Pakistan both have been on the recieving end in the past month or so.

How did Shan Masood get a wicket? What kind of bowler is he?

Also how has Abbas been?

Just started watching Pak's bowling now.

South African batting is quite poor. We are repeatedly being reminded that Australian batting in the absence of Smith and Warner is mediocre, but those same people are unable to notice that South African batting is at their weakest in living memory. This team cannot score even 300 in an innings. Sadly, even that total is too large for Pakistani batsmen to chase.

I want to ask a question to Mickey "Fitness" Arthur.

You said fitness is one thing that you will never compromise on and that was the reason that you gave to boot out Sohail Khan despite him getting consecutive 5-fors in England. You said that his second, third, fourth spells were not up to the mark as his pace dropped down significantly.

Please tell me then on what basis Amir is in the team for? His second, third and fourth spells are in the range of 127-132 kph and he's not even bowling better than Sohail. Seems to me these are straight forward double standards because Amir is your blue eyed boy.

Also Sohail is 4 times the batsmen your numbers 8-11 are combined.

It would be digestible if you just came out and said that Sohail is not in your good books. Thank you.
