Steyn seems to have to slower his pace when he wants to bowl at good length.. 4 balls he bowled all were slower bowls with fingers rolling..

Back of the good length he was bowling at pace..

They do but English ODI pitches and the weather during the world cup will not help them so much. Steyn has never been a great ODI bowler, Rabada does not get much reverse (which may be needed) and the others may not be experienced enough.

Don't get me wrong, individually they are all good bowlers, but it may not be the best mix for modern England.

When even best of best South African alround team (not just bowling, but batting, alrounders + futuristic fielding) couldn't win World Cup (their choking story or bad luck whatever), I wonder how this below par team will have a chance this time (not just below par compared to their previous teams, below par compared to other teams currently!) For all their fast bowling reputation, they probably don't have a bowler like Bumrah in their ranks as of now!

So they (fast bowlers) can look solid only in tests with their doctored pitches against average Asian & selection-messed Indian sides!

Their bases were well covered (in fact over covered with multiple layers) in previous teams. They had like 5 high quality alrounders, they had teams which were well advanced for their time... Today's SA Team is comparable to NZ team... Will just compete to one level...

South Africa are using this series to test new players for the WC. Got to admire them for that. Think Hendricks was tested as they don't have many left arm fast bowlers. Need some vairtey.

World Cup is played in June and July. Get ready for plenty of spin friendly wickets and South Africa have the famous chokers tag. However, they surely have very good fast bowlers its the middle overs where they need to do the work.

Hashim amla was not playing like older days, amla, de cock, faf, Miller they are the main batters, in a world cup crunch game if everyone fails it would be very difficult for SA, bowling alone won't win odi world cup you need batting firepower also.

You forgot Anrich Nortje. If he wasn't injured, he'd have made the team for the Pakistan T20s atleast. He's a raw Lockie Ferguson fast type of bowler. Bullied AB and a few others in the MSL

amir kept building pressure and he kept releasing it.

The 1999 South African side should have won the world cup. They choked and missed a once in a life time opportunity to win world cup. The present South African team is quite weak in batting. Their pace bowling alone is not enough in English condition. They need wicket taking spinners. Tahir and Shamsi have looked quite toothless against Pakistan.
