What's new

South Africa v Australia | 1st Test | Brisbane | Nov 9-13, 2012 |

This should be an amazing series!

Really been looking forward to some hard fought cricket between 2 of if not the 2 best test teams in the world.

Fantastic, 3 overs behind the over rate already. Rubbish.

Good session for SA batting first, although this seems a pretty nice pitch to bat on.

Test cricket in Australia is a treat to watch.

Aussies will fight hard but Saffers are clearly the best side in the world, the real no.1 test team after the two previous pretenders in India and England.

Amla and co seem to be settling in for a long stay. Aus need some luck to get on top early in this series or it could be a long run around in the field for them.

Watching the worlds best batsmen makes it tough to sleep, a long night ahead:amla

Looks like a long couple of days ahead for Aus.

How come you can't post an image on here. :20:

 You dont think the leaked dossier was actually the plans do you? You know the dossier "leaks" before every home series?

To be fair the Aussies do tend to reveal a lot of inside information.

Sledging Amla would be a daft move, it will just help him concentrate even harder. But it would be nice to see some of the old Aussie spirit out there, since Ashes 2009 they have turned into kittens. :warne

I would be very very surprised if they havent already tried sledging him. But agree that it is unlikely to work, it never does against bat-in-a-bubble type players.

1/95 now. Damn these Saffers are persistent.

Aussie bowlers are also trying some persistence. Without Johnson it's not spraying around. This attack has pretty decent control which England lost in the summer. A battle of patience where the bowlers have strong opposition facing them at the moment, Petersen, Amla ice cool.

Hilfenhaus's pace has dropped again. Against India and New Zealand last year he consistently bowled in 140s but today he has been around 135k. He hasn't looked threatening either..

Its amazing, this is the same attack that cut through India like butter. Against a side that play pace well they look average.

Its early days yet but I did notice that.

Right on cue, Hilfy has a very solid appeal for LBW

Cummins is Injured but what happened to Ryan Harris? He is injured too?

Why's Asad Rauf getting booed?Did he give some wrong decision?

Nice to hear Glen McGrath, what a bowler.

The plan is to clearly frustrate the Aus attack with umpiring helping them out. Lyons has a big role, needs to stay economical first up.

Shows an issue again with DRS, umpires are less likely to give marginal calls because DRS is there, but when DRS is marginal, it goes back to the umpires call, which he didnt make because of DRS. I wonder if anyone ever at anytime has thought through the logic of the DRS. It seems no.

Its a good plan. Both Siddle and Pattinson can get frustrated when nothing is happening. Damn Saffers.

I think pitch is slow, both the batsmen are playing off the back foot very late easily. A very unaustralian pitch but iirc the gabba pitch for the Ashes was the same as well. Should've kept the same pitch used for the NZ test

Peterson gone, daft shot

Lyon getting some dip and slow turn, not playing Tahir could be a whammy

hoping that this will be a closely contested series... time to enjoy being a neutral and just appreciate good cricket between probably the only two best test teams out there..

A really good wicket for Lyon. If he can pick up wickets it will boost the pacers. Siddle will give it his all, that's for sure.

Kallis and Amla easily the best no.3 and 4 in the middle. Kallis creams one down the ground, going after Lyons as he did against Swan.

i just love doing my daily work while hearing the aussie crowd buzz in the stadium and ian chappell and co commentating...

Been following this match closely, it's so good to see Test cricket after months!

This batting line up is daunting. Get one wicket and out walks Kallis.

Get another wicket and out comes De Villiers etc.

now you know how the rest of the world felt.. take out 5 wickets and in comes gilchrist to punish you for making him walk to the crease.. karma my friend!!

great discipline shown by Australian bowlers so far..not giving any bad balls.

Some of the comments on CricIndia leave me to believe that Pakistan fans are now supporting Australia. Bowlers are rubbish no good etc. Siddle is average etc.

They all average under 30 with the ball.

that Australian batting line up was way better than this SA line up.. As u said Gilchrist used to come in at 6 or 7 to make things worse for the bowling team..

and this time outside edge just past Clarke..very lucky Amla.

All those blaming the pitch should wait till both sides have batted at least once.

The pitch is fine, it is just a bit disappointing after last year.

Hilfenhaus is clearly not the same bowler he was last year. He looked much more threatening. He was quick and accurate. Not that he has bowled really badly but he didn't look threatening. And another reason is the difference between the batting lineup. South African batting line is a quality one unlike India which was composed of "once upon a time" stars.

Tea time: SA 186/2

After Tea, Saffers need to get to 280-300 by Stumps, without losing more than one wicket. Amla deserve his ton.

Hilfenhaus is bowling around 130k now. Is he fully fit?

Probably not, he's been playing novelty cricket.

So now 6 overs behind on the over rate, they will make it up by extending the last session but its still poor work. People pay to see 30 overs a session Michael Clarke. Get with the program.

So far not a good day for us. Saffers have come to play and are showing why they are number 1.

hoping the bearded great gets to a 100:D...he deserves it:).....has played really well

I'm here at the Gabba representing PakPassion. Beautiful day for cricket.

Will have pics up later.

I miss Richie of the old, he's getting too old for the job now

Better bowling from the Victorian boys after tea, keeping it tight.

One thing about the Saffers, they dont often really put their foot on your throat when they have the ascendancy in the game.

We need at least two wickets this session, otherwise the day is theirs.

kallis goin at a strike rate of 80:)))....that leaked dossier even if it was fake has prolly got the big man upset and he is takin it out on da aussies :))):)))

Yeah Siddle has been unlucky but the Aussie just haven't bowled enough good balls.

On the bright side, already done better than England in their first test against the Saffers.
