Its OUT!, hot spot is amazing technology, you cant argue with that.381-7 still 61 behind. McDonald goes for 61

its not clear from the replay so it should be not out, but hotspot says it just got a tickle, little inside edge

Even without hot spot it would have stayed as OUT. If the third umpire has doubts then what the on field umpire decided stays.

Harris has 5 and is on a Hat trick. its Brice McGain he cant be part of a Hattrick too can he?

WOOHOO This MJ is a beast !
Just have a look at his pull shots. He truly suprized me this series with his batting.
AUS dont need to look further they found their allrounder.

He is special !

Great innings by Mitch Johnson. Australian middle order should accept the blame for consistent failing.

Cricinfo's frequent use of 'Whaddaplayaaaa!' is seriously very annoying

Oh and well played South Africa, although you screwed up when it did matter

Hussey and Michael Clarke's position needs to be scrutinized. The Aussie's will also have to rethink about the long term prospects of Mcdonald. Sorry but Mcgain doesnt look like he will have a long future besides he is 36 years old as it is.

The good news for Australia is that Mitchell Johnson is now a star.

Hopefully with him at 8 we can stop this useless all rounder selections.

McGain will never be seen again at this level, McDonald got some runs and some wickets but will struggle to hold his spot, Hussey is a couple of Tests away from doom.

Peter Siddle continues to be a gun prospect.

3-3 for the 6 Test series is a fair reflection of a great contest and one played in good spirit.

Respect to the South Africans, now we go to beat on some Poms.

Once again with the brilliant batting performance from Michelle Johnson. Seriously, what's wrong with South Africa bowling attack? What happened to Nitni, Steyn? South Africa bowling has become joke. Not that taking credit away from Johnson batting performance but Johnson totally humiliated South Africa bowling attack with faster strike rate and that's embarrassing and very likely rare inning as we see in Test. Well Done Michelle Johnson.

The wounded team, and however, is healing very quickly now and set to wound the England on A.S.H.E.S series now.

Congratulation for the brilliant centuries of Prince, Villier and Kallis. Sadly, i didn't watch this test and somehow, i have lost the interest of Cricket. Yesteday, i tried to enjoy playing Cricket but didn't enjoy the game at all. I think Cricket is pretty much dried for me now.

Anyways, for once again the finest test series provided ever.

Is this the first Australian innings defeat after India in India in 1998?

Yep. Then you have to go back to 1993 for the next one and believe it or not the previous was NZ beating Australia at home by an innings and 41 runs in 1986ish. That was the Hadlee tour.

North is sick and not available.

The dullness continues, this partnership is worth 43 off 30 overs.

North being sick really farked us up eh. We can't rely on 5 specialist bats, esp. if 3 of them are out of form.

This has been an interesting series and has really shown where we need to plug some gaps for the Ashes. I'd say McGain is a goner, and Ronnie may be too. If we need a spinner we may resort to Krusha. But our top six is pretty clear - Hughes, Krapich, Dubya, Hussey (needs to step up), Pup, North, and then Haddin, then we may end up with a 4 man pace attack wtih MJ, Sidd, Clark and Hilf. Though the boffins in charge MAY be tempted to slot Watto or Symmo in to bolster the batting.

MJ's excellent knock has deflected attention from the fact that we played woefully and lost by an INNINGS. That's pretty bad.

Harris bowls Australia to innings loss - :)) Good one cricinfo (Harris bowls SA to win is a bland title. This one is better) :P

Like RA and a few others have mentioned 3-3 from 6 tests pretty much shows both these sides are evenly matched across most departments. Both teams have good respect for each other and its good to see competative series between the 2 just like it was in the 1990s.

Also spooky that arguably both the sides when losing did so due to almost identical selection issues:

In Australia, persisting with Hayden and Lee

In South Africa, persisting with McKenzie and Morne Morkel

Anyway good series to watch, well done to both sides.

Looking at S.A when they have their Strongest X1 out they are a match for anyone. I do think however, bench strength wise the South Africans need to find more strength and depth if they want to dominate the cricketing world like the Aussies have.

Australia are still number 1 but there batting still has frailtys galore with Hussey and clarke in woeful touch. North is a good additon to the batting. Bowling wise Aussies need to decide wether a spinner is worth been in the side as most bowlers tried look like pie floaters.

There's a fair bit of bench strength. Ashwell Prince, Imraan Khan and Albie Morkel didn't play in any of the previous 5 tests. And JP Duminy didn't play in tests before Australia.

^^^^^^

Imraan khan didnt impress
Albie Morkel doesnt seem like a test match bowler
JP Duminy is new to international cricket he also had a quite test series in SA.
