Now I know why people aren't interested in tests. 5 days and still draws. SA should've chased it and let everyone down. Test Cricket has no future with draws.

We made the number 1 team scared to win at the end, bloody achievement for us me thinks LOL.

Unfortunately in both the innings one wicket falling has triggered another wicket down or a collapse.. That might be one of the main reason they played it safe

This was awful stuff from the saffers, this just proves to us all that no matter what happens they can never win a worldcup, they just dont have the killer instinct and the fire, shocked to say the least. Hopefully India will thrash them in the next match.

Lol! at people saying India Lost it.

Its SA that have lost it. 40 runs from 10 overs is nothing. :danish

Aaannddd ... India have been spared a record here :D . Good test match this .

Give Tis new team some time, they were in dominant position and it took an herculean effort from faf and ab to stretch thus far,how many subcontinent teams have taken match upto last ball here in sa.

Even the weak Australian and Windies teams would have tried to win.

I think most captains would have tried to win in last 2 overs at least. SA had 3 wickets still in hands.

It was obviously an instruction from the dressing room. Can't blame Steyn and Phillander

Defeatist mentality, no wonder they've never won a world cup with an attitude like that.

India played pretty tough cricket to sneak the draw in the end.

You were just waiting for the choke to come and, with Du Plessis running himself out, it came right on cue.

I would add big hitters in next match. This test is the most shocking and cowardly ever.

India didn't throw this away. They tried everything their bowling wasn't just good enough. It was Saw which didn't look hungry enough to win. Shame!

If SA is Choker... then India is the Mother of All Chokers....
I mean... they can't win.. even after making 450+ ????
What a shame....
Feel Sorry for Indian Batsman

Every team would have gone for it with 3 wickets in hand.

Australia would have gone for it with 1 in hand and lost by 16 runs.
It's probably why Australia loses more close tests than any other nation.

Feel Sorry for Indian Batsman :D

Just look at how many runs south African bowlers gave away before being sorry for indian batsmen, not to forget a herculean effort from class batters like ab and faf, offcourse wicket easing a bit didn't help, not to forget ashwin being a nil Factor didn't help a bit.

South Africa batted superbly to have any chance whatsoever, but really India should be disappointed that they couldn't take 8 wickets in a day and that after setting a mammoth 458 for the Saffers.

Tbh,in the end it was SA's match to lose.and i am glad that our bowlers pulled a draw.

Lol at Cricinfo headline
'du Plessis stars in greatest draw'

Trying to enhance the status of what was a so-so finish in the end.

Well Australia losing at Perth or Australia losing against windies with world class attack, would u call them mother of all choker,no both team tried hard ,but couldn't get the result,India was undone by ab and faf, just like aus were undone by brian lara.,even steyn and co gave away more than 400 runs.

Dhoni: "I'm very happy with that performance. There are plenty of things we can talk about. The amount of preparation is one thing. Outside India we play with four bowlers. The spinner might not be effective in the first innings overseas. There is some extra load on the fast bowlers. The bowling was fantastic throughout. Virat, Pujara and Vijay played really well. It got tough in the middle. There was a situation in the game when we could have lost easily. It is a good learning experience for the fast bowlers, to know when to attack if it happens again. With Zak, it is important to have a leader of the bowling attack outside the sub-continent. One of the MOST important things was fitness. He looks different in this game. The more time he spends with us, the better he can get. The wicket is good at Durban. It will be testing. It will be a good exposure for our batsmen. Same thing for our bowlers. It is important to rest well, especially the fast bowlers and be ready for the next Test."
Smith:"I think credit to India. They played extremely well over 4 days. We had to find a way to keep ourselves in the Test. Credit to our guys especially today. I think Faf and ABD's knock will go down as one of the best in history. We played incredibly well until Faf's run out. Vernon took the interest to shut shop in the best interests of the team and we got to support them. I think it would have given closure to a few guys but it is important not to lose the game. We played some high quality Test cricket. We go to Durban, Even Stevens now. I think those who played the game will appreciate those innings from Faf and ABD. They took it down to the last hour. It is great for Test cricket again. Terrific innings from Faf. There was some unecessary pressure on him going into the game. This squad has got a good camaraderie. To see, Faf come out and produce that innings was just fantastic. Important Test fifty from Vernon. He's pushing himself into the all-rounder's role. We are looking to do well at Durban and lets hope there is a third Test at Cape Town (smiles). Morne is 20% fit to play the next game."

Our bowlers are not reliable to take 20 wickets like pakistan who can't score 400 or let say atleast 100 against steyn and co.
It goes both ways mate..:msd

Kohli: "It takes three tours - the tour of England, Australia and South Africa to prove yourself. We can be very proud of the way we played. I wanted to get the 100 in the second innings and get the momentum for the team. I take 96 anyday instead of 0 but a 100 in both innings would have been perfect. To play a Test, it is about visualising many things. We did not get too much game time before we started. The guys took 10 days to get comfortable - through the ODIS and the practice sessions. That helped. Pujara has been another Wall for us. Unfortunately I was the culprit in the run out in the first innings but he made up for that in the second. He's been absolutely brilliant for us. Hopefully we can put together many more partnerships."

Lol letting a team to score 400+ and he is happy with it? He is a worse captain than Misbah.

This is shameful stuff from Smith, saying that "Veron made the decision in the interest of the team" then saying hopefully there is a 3rd test, still taunting India after they have humiliated them in their own backyard after all the prematch hype by the saffers. I am shocked to see so many posters saying that this is like a loss for India, Indians have given them a good phainty and played out of their skins to get this match so close when no one expected them to. It was funny to see Steyn asking Veron not to go for the shots, shameful shameful stuff by saffers.

I really hope India thrash them in the next match, i'd like to see Smith ask for a third test then.

This is like a victory for the saffera.

I think the opposite.
India will remain united and know they are good enough to compete overseas.

The knives will be out in the South African changerooms over the last three overs. A lot of unhappy players.

South Africa would have been better off making 7/350
