Where is Stephen Cook? I thought he was good in his last trip to AUS.

Shami's bowling is kinda like up and down, you don't know when to expect the dangerous or mediocre Shami. Right now he is quite bad
Shami is moody, when in rhythm will pick 2/ 3 in quick succession so better hold him back when he's not pitching it right.
He's bad and old.
He can be better with old ball i guess when others will struggle. But this pitch looks alot batting friendly. Can't wait to watch our batting.
How is good is this Wiaan Mulder? Read an article of him being future star of South Africa.
The ball is turning. Faf won't be pleased with the groundsman at all.
Lolol
I guess that made defeat palatable? Different coping mechanisms....
Ashwin getting some nice turn, no pace, no bounce, no seam movement but there is turn.. Is this match really in South Africa or India ?
SA will score around 450 plus I feel,
and Indians will get around 340,
SA will score a further 290 in second innings and declare.
Indians draw the match with 2 wicket to spare.
you heard it here first..
Lol, good luck convincing yourself that![]()
If SA score 290 in the 2nd, it will be at a faster pace.
I don't see India surviving 4th innings until a second new ball.
India's only chance to draw is to score heavily in the 1st.
Although, anything can happen in a cricket game![]()
Umm draw is definitely possible, I think this wicket is flatter than the ones in India.

Did thread on him a few years back. He's a great talent. I don't like that he's not batting in the top 5 though. He's more of a batting all rounder for me. I'd push him up the order.
He's definitely batting far too low. Been suprised by his bowling though, looks very consistent and bowls at acceptable pace.
Ashwin is getting it to turn on day one.
I am sure in your alternate universe, old ball swings more than the new ball.
One thing that has been consistent is both teams seem to have no clue how to read the pitch in both matches. Also I wouldn't worry about the collapse ashwin can't do much given he will have no help from the other end.How do people come up to conclusions before both sides have batted? This wicket is flat?
Anyway I'm not happy with this surface, Ashwin is getting it to turn on day one. SA will have to score 400+ to mitigate for a second innings collapse. They'll probably have to have a lead of 80+ at the very least.
The Cape Town surface wasn't abrasive enough to soften the ball/seam. The juice and the tinge of green made batting hard in the first hour or so. The pitch had settled by the time India went to bat. It was baked by the sun during the lunch break, India used a heavy roller to flatten the surface for 7 minutes. That happened in this universe.
But yeah, good luck convincing yourself India had it tough. Even Indian journalists are aware of that fact.

Of course, its always SA who have it tougher, whether they are touring, or playing at home after winning toss.
Anything that isn't green is a bat first pitch it's the team selection that tells you how they have read the pitch. Should have gotten another spinner or at least Morris to use the extra bounce.South Africa have read this pitch well, it's a bat first surface.
However I don't agree with the talk that this surface will quicken. It's different from the NZ surface 2016. That pitch had side ways movement, even though it was on the slower side. It was a bit green too, as a result it did get quicker on day 2. I don't think that's the case here. This pitch will bake and bake until it cracks late on day 3.
Will be interesting to see what happens on day 4 and 5.

Two spinners at Highveld?
No thanks, our fast bowlers are way superior to our spin bowlers in any case.
Spinners average 48 in this ground as is.
Someone has to counter attack here, the turn is slow.
But that is history this pitch is turning on day 1, never seen that happen in SA. Also I wouldn't be too harsh on the curator Cricinfo did a article on the issue he faces to get this pitch ready pre game read it.
Amla in Centurion: 16 innings, 1202 runs @80.13, 5 hundreds, 6 fifties. His last five scores are 208, 109, 96, 58 and 1 (latest)
Ominous!

I think BCCI influenced the curator to produce this sub continent track.
Makram looks the real deal. The way he constructs an innings is impressive.
Patel dropped a catch off Ishant. Reprieve for Amla. He wont give more chances. Looks like another unlucky day for Ishant in white colors.
Indian batting line up looks a lot stronger in this match.
Wish BK was playing. He would have added more strength to batting.
Something tells me this will be a draw. This is the kind of pitch where Rohit can also perform. Ball is going gun barrel straight after pitching.
Did India do a mistake of not picking Jaddu ?
We need a burst of 3/4 wickets from shami with the old ball after tea.
By the way - I knew Sharmaji won’t be dropped after one Test where everyone failed with bat.
Yes, and now we have both Sharmas - double bonanza!
