Why is kohli bowling Ashwin and not Bumrah when it's reversing?
Some of kohli's decisions boggle the mind.
We need Du plessis before lunch.
 
QdK still scored 12 runs. Watch India bat in the 4th innings and how their batsmen struggle to reach double figures.
 
At the start of the day, I mentioned that India needs 5 wickets in the First session to stay in the match. Well they have taken 3 so far. They need 1 more to make it more interesting. It is 60/40 in the favor of Proteas and that has always been the case in this Test Match.

AB De Villiers knock might prove to be decisive in the end.
 
Shami looks two complete different bowler. Great one day bad another day. I am sure today's performance from him is mostly because of less heat.
 
South Africa has more than enough runs on board for the series win, I would just declare if I was DuPlessis and bowl India out for 100

bowled ashwin with new ball and bowled shami after ball was already 20 overs old. Who knows if they would have got ab or elgar early then game could be changed now.

consolation for India is that Maharaj wont take advantage of the pitch so pacers will have to do the work for Saffers
 
Kohli as a captain is just terrible. Bad selections apart his bowling choices have been strange too... Ashwin with the new ball yesterday, 5-over spell for Ishant from one end this morning while he was making zero impact... beyond nobodies like me who wanted Rahane to be in the XI.

Despite the hype this pitch offers only slow turn. Ball doesn't spit and jump here. SUre lot of guys would get out to slow turns as well. But if you play without pressure you can easily handle spinners. But Ashwin created chances. Fielders just didn't take.

A lead of 250 and the game is 50/50 i recon.

DeKock is a flat track bully. Poor guy if the ball is spinning ashwin will get him around the wicket, if it is seaming bhuvi will get him, if it is reversing bumrah or shami will get him
 
Regardless of the target Kohli will go for it, if Rahul, Pandya and Pujara get stuck to their batting act we will have an interesting finish.

Absolutely. And he also needs to watch his on-field behaviour with officials. Rightly fined for yesterday's incident. A protest can be made in a civilised, mild-mannered way as well without resorting to throwing arms around, making angry frowning faces and uttering filth-laden nonsense.
 
Any target < 275 should be possible if we apply ourselves with so much time left. Let's see if we can wrap it up fast post lunch!

The thing is Rabada makes all the difference in their line-up, just a very high class bowler you can never feel in while he is bowling. Morkel till date blows hot and cold.

His on-field behavior is so bad that I feel like turning off my TV. Jumping like a clown and hurling profanities after fall of every wicket... Yuck

Yeah, Rabada and Philander basically killed us last game.

Ashwin is doing good contain job but no way he can bowl first over when you got ishant and shami. Virat is doing big mistake here again.

Mostly all indians love and follow him that reason.
 
Kohli again is a very poor captain.
The only thing he does well is cheers his bowlers.
Extremely ordinary tactician.

Should have started with bumrah & ishant/shami after ball gets too soft it wont reverse as well and runs might come easy.
 
First ever whitewash in South Africa? It looks like, because Kohli & Shastri can come up with another strange XI in the next match (maybe Karthik!) As far as this game, its over, except Kohli everyone got troubled against odd balls (even against Maharaj) in the 1st innings. Kohli scored half of the runs. 2nd innings is going to be even tougher. South African pacers can extract twice the bounce compared to Indian bowlers. 250 is more than enough and South Africa have lot of time....

That is possible with the Kohli-Shastri think-tank :) I'm afraid we're going to see Yuzvendra Chahal and Kedar Jadhav play test cricket too... two more Kohli's favs ;)
 
Kohli should have brought shami in place of pandya and bowl with ishant.
 
Ishant Sharma is like a bowling equivalent of a filler episode, does nothing other than fill up quota to be bowled so that better bowlers can be restd
 
Ash is a bit dissapointing, but I think wicket isn’t that poor , under 250 can be chased but I feel SAF will cross 250 (+28)
 
Pandya will get 5 fer (which kohli wants) in this innings till 2019 world cup for sure.
 
I went out for like half an hour and batsmen have added only about 5-6 runs, so boring...
 
South Africa should look to score about 30 runs at least in these 10 overs before the new ball. The new ball will be hard to get away.

I think, they are waiting for the new ball which’ll come on to bat and VK would be forced to close the fielding. SAF has decided to grind it out after Kok failed to counter attack
 
Game going absolutely nowhere. Whatever the overall merit of the match, and I watch full games all the time, this is why Test cricket is dying.

This isn't challenging, 'greatest test of character' or any such rubbish. This passage of play is like watching paint dry.

And I'm saying this as someone highly interested in the game as a whole. The pitch has just died and there is nothing in it when the ball is old. Nothing.
 
India need to keep hunting for wickets here and not just go through a passage or play of going through motions until new ball is due.
