S.A have a habit of losing some shockers at home. I remember they lost a test against the W.I a few years ago but managed to comeback and win series 2-1.

lost to us, lost to India twice, lost the whole series to Australia.

what a rubbish team.

IMO they are a world-class series of individuals but an overrated team.

:amla run out

SA putting on a full ccccccccccccchhhhhhhhhhoke here LOL

Wait...I thought all the Indians...and BZ were calling Sri Lanka minnows? :13:

Prince gone now. Even the faintest of hopes is vanishing.

SL will get their first test victory ever in SL, that too after a period of 15 odd tests without a test victory :))

How people can claim KP and Trott wouldn't get into this team is beyond me

Boucher the fighter

On a side note, really dislike Prince.. Shouldn't be In the team IMO, Trott or KP would easily take his place !

Smith
Trott
Amla
Kallis
KP
de Villiers
Prior

Best batting lineup ever.

SA need better scouts and less racist selection policies, otherwise quality players will keep slipping through the net!

@ whippy

Saffers dont need any scouts :P
they just need to fine tune their selection policy

but still choking is in their blood :)))

Looks like SL will make history and win their 1st test match in S.A

Also will be there 1st test win since murali retired?

KP wasn't much of a batsman till he came to England anyway. Also, given the history of SA, enhancing racial equality in the team is important. I'm not saying how they're going about it is exactly correct, but if there's any country in the world where the case could be made for promoting racial parity and risking a mild compromise on performance, it is SA.

At any rate, as you said earlier, the problem is more mental than it is the personnel. Each player in the team, including Prince, has the ability and talent to be a fine international player. They just bottle it. If the likes of Trott and KP were in this team, or in the England team of the 90s, they would probably have imbibed that chokers' spirit by now. It can be infectious.

Positive discrimination and affirmative action seem wrong in all cases to me, but I am a white capitalist Tory pig and my perspective is limited.

I find it funny how KP, Trott and Prior are the mentally toughest cricketers in the England team and they are South African. South Africans are supposed to be bottlers. In my poor opinion, these three learning their trade in England gave them the extra steel that the South Africa players are lacking.

Good review but still not out. Was that really bouncing so high? Eagle Eye is supposed to be a lot less accurate than Hawk Eye

If we get a rain-affected draw now it will be a disgrace. South Africa have been abysmal in this game and fully deserve to lose.

Another failure for Boucher. I remember this time last year people were convinced Boucher and Haddin were better than Prior. Mwahaha.

Great game for Herath, 4 in the first dig and 2* in the second dig. Obviously no Murali but he has some career ahead of him. It's difficult for spinners in South Africa.

I remember steyn getting 76 in Australia against Australia, what an innings that was..... no one expected him. People then said that he was another all rounder in making...... :P

4 wickets required in the final session for Sri Lanka to win, hope they do it.

End of the session here...........

South Africa require another 314 runs with 4 wickets remaining

:57:

If Sri Lanka win the deciding test, South Africa plummet to 110 ranking points way off the top spot, and Sri Lanka rocket up to 104 points in fourth place, above Australia and Pakistan.

SA will come back strongly in the third test, I think if SL bat well there and get there main batsmen firing, a draw is possible, which will be a big achievement for SL.

I don't like to say it but.......

Chokers.

On the verge of beating a decent/poor Australia team in the series and they draw, on the verge of a series win here and they lose.

But just look at the past results. They produce very good players but don't have the mental edge to cross that line.

+1. And having Gary Kirsten as dere coach won't change it. Mental edge can't be changed by any1.

Coach can only make good plans and have the man-management going on. He can't control your mind!

Love Gary though! He changed our team!

They actually seem a worse team under Kirsten, which is truly bizarre. Adds to the general wackiness of South African cricket.

SA have produced probably the best teams arguably in most WC , bu they always choked, it's surprising. They also had decent ODI teams, with quality all rounders.

I feel, SA would struggle more after :kallis hangs up his boots. The balance which he brings in the side would be missed.

AB and steyn putting up a fight here. 68 run partnership.

249 runs to win!

Cmon you Saffers.

Not even half way there yet. But there is hope that rain saves them if these two can carry on.

9 overs to go now for Day 4 and after that SA will take this Test to Day 5.
