Light gone down.

Who do you think got the honors on day 2?

I think a Invitation side would be happy to be 213/7 against the Pakistani attack boasting Junaid, Ajmal and Gul.

On the other hand, Pakistan would be happy to have crossed 300 today from 178/6.

Both sides should be reasonably happy with the day's work.

probably....but then some of us need to temper expectations that our bowlers will not exactly roll-over batting line-ups in quick time.
I have to say despite the excitement about the attack.....the pedigree is a little unproven.
nonetheless this would be a very good work out for guys like Junaid...he got pasted a bit today....better to have this in the side matches than the actual game.

I don't know why Junaid struggled.

Maybe the pitch wasn't as good for bowling. Can't really analyze anything from a warmup without actually looking at the game.

It's not about taking the honors. From our point of view, good to see all of our bowlers had a fair work out. Tomorrow, I think the likes of Azhar, Misbah and Asad need to spend as much time in the middle as possible.

+1 agreed.

I think they desperately need to make sure they stay and get among runs.

1 practice match is way too less.

^^Everybody BUT the PCB agrees that one practice match is way too less.
That too at a venue which is not known for pace and bounce. PCB failed to realise this, clever move by Cricket SA though.

decent performance from pakistan over-all, though i would have liked better performance from junaid and irfan, May be they didnt take it that seriously...

Junaid and Irfan are probably struggling with finding right length on these wickets. Umar Gul has experience from these condidtions and he and bowling coach Mohammad Akram should work with Junaid and Irfan and sort this out before the first Test.

And they both are quick learners so I wont be much worried.

pitch was not a typical SA wicket from what we know. we can only really judge junaid and irfan after joburg

@IAJ: LOL, Gul has always bowled crap on bouncy wickets, mostly guilty of bowling short on bouncy wickets in Australia. He should not be the one working with Junaid and Irfan. Leave this thing to Muhammad Akram.

This will be Gul's last chance for some time to prove his critics wrong and set his record straight in these sort of conditions!

Though, I feel he would perform quite well on this tour.

So,good result so far for Pakistan that they are getting good practice ....Bowlers just bowled enough which is neither tiring nor less....And Yes!batsmen will have abundant time to spend time on the wicket as still 2 days are to go...

i think we were expecting too much from our bowling attack.. we need one genuine swing bowler in place of irfan in my view to have a balanced attack.

We haven't had a good swing bowler for a long long time. Aamir was the last one.

In domestic, Sadaf Hussain, Tanvir Ahmed and Rahat are the swing bowlers that have been performing quite well. I agree, we should have included one swing bowler to complement the seamers.

Ehsan is also a seam bowler if I am not wrong.

that run out was the funniest moment of the day..lol the batsmen got slipped before he reaches the crease..was funny!

still have doubt regarding Irfan's fitness of bowling 16-18 overs a day...............that may hurt the balance of attack......Adil is also a rookie.....Rahat would have been a better option

agree ! we should keep irfan for t20s and groom someone like rahat or some other youngster for tests and include wahab for odis so we have options and that way there will be less work load on bowlers so lower chance of injuries.
