If all 3 keep their feet on the ground, we could have the most exciting Spin battle since the late 90s. Yadav is slightly ahead but the other 2 have just as much potential.

Wasn't there a Pakistani chinaman (that sounded funny) as well?

I got be honest i only watched the PSL for Shadab and Asghar and i am hoping that both the lads will be very good. Yadav could become the Chinaman that sets the standard for years to come. Crane will bowl in the least helpful conditions but he also gives it a rip.

Too early. I would not be surprised if Yadav is sorted out.

Maybe, but his basics are solid. He turns the ball and he doesn't bowl it too slow. I think Shadab also needs to be careful with the use of the googly. Mushtaq had an equally good googly and had great success at the start but the more he bowled the more batsman saw it and after a while he became just a googly bowler and hence never had the success he should have had.

You may be right but I dont want to comment on others beside Yadav. Too many times these young guys come and then they disappoint. Let him enjoy his cricket and not put any unreasonable expectations on him. We ruined quiet a few that way.

He is no where near Yadav but he gets hardone at Grade 1 level. Deserves to be picked and given opportunities but isn't treated fairly.

Mirza just took a fivefer in Grade 2.

I saw a video of him and he wasnt good.

For me he was and is good enough to play FC and List A cricket in Pakistan because many who are inferior in skills and performance play ahead of him in the same domestic cricket. Plus he can't improve in nets. He needs gametime.

There was an upcoming chinaman in Pakistan too. Cant remember the name.

Diamond getting polished.

High Quality Leggie.

Goodness me. He looks better than any other leg spinner right now.

England need to be patient with Crane but he should def tour Australia. I have heard that another young leg spinner from Lancs has something about him, lets see how he develops.

I think the reason he's been included in this t20 squad despite it not really being a format he's done at all well in so far is quite possibly to give the coaching staff a look at him to see if he could be a genuine consideration for the winter touring squads in the longer format. Morgan has confirmed he'll debut this series though and I expect that will likely be today given its his home ground and the other 2 games are being played on tiny boundaries.

Parkinson is the spinner at Lancs. Problem for him may be that they already have Keerigan and Parry ahead of him.

What about the Afghanistan spinner Arshad(?) Khan?

From what i have heard from some Parkinson seems to be the better long term prospect but lets see how both develop. I would play Crane especially in Aus because Moeen and Adil wont make any impact there.

This is the first time I saw Crane and the guy was very impressive

Poor batting really. First four deliveries were poor. Just poor batting . Those could be even tonked away for easy sixes. Last three deliveries were real deal though.

Have a look at greateat Leggie Shane Warne. Until 28-29 his record was as good as Kaneria at similar age but than he matured and his line & length became much more consistent. Than He ruled the world of Leg Spin world single handedly and took 700 wickets and retired as a GOAT.

Most Leggies mature very late. It's the most difficult art of bowling.

Crane is highly talented aswell as skilled so is Usama Mir, Rashid Khan aswell.

World hasn't seen chinaman having such consistency and such A grade performances at such age as Kuldeep Yadav. India missed a trick by not picking such a talent for CT who would have been a surprise package plus would have turned the ball more than anyone else in the competition. Only Shami or Umesh should have been picked and not both.

Where is Usama Mir

A bit of work on him and he can become unplayable

He is working very very hard and lately he took a fivefer in ramazan tournament. Fivefer in 4 overs.

He needs not much work but hundreds of overa under his belt so that he has grip over his line and length. Plus he should maintain his fitness. If he stays grounded and healthy He will play for Pakistan and will have a long career InshaAllah.

Rashid Khan you mean? Oldest looking 18 year old you'll ever see.

Don't hate yaar. Genes, demography, work you do, time of marriage, time of puberty etc etc matter and determine your outlook. There are many who look elder than what they are while many who look younger than what they are.

I wasn't hating yaar. He is clearly a talented player. I just doubt his age- it wouldn't be the first time a player has given a false age (often because of poor record keeping etc).

Too early to make a comparison. Seriously people have such big inferiority complexes, they need to feel better than the other person even if it's a lie.

Kuldeep is an all rounder, apart from this there is to much to distinguish as of now

kuldeep doesnt loook to beall rounder by his stats shadab is ....time will tell who is better as a bowler..atm shadab looks a better package..

Kuldeep is pretty good. Infact, I would say he is the best spinner in India in shorter formats. Not sure if Kuldeep has the patience for longer formats. Remains to be seen. In the 1 test he played against Australia, he looked solid.

Don't know who Crane is, below are the best young spinners IMO.

1) Rashid Khan
2) Kuldeep Yadav
3) Shadab

Rashid is by far the best upcoming young spinner. He will ba force for years to come. Kuldeep is also only 22. All are young. Exciting times a head.

We need spinners with a bit of mystery to them to control the batsmen friendly tracks.

Another highly impressive performance for Crane in the t20 against Sussex this evening. Wonder if he'll get a shot in one of the tests against West Indies later this summer.

Will be interesting to see how Crane fares against a team that can actually play spin...

such low quality batting

Mason Crane fast tracked to the England test squad.

He would be good against team who doesn't play spin well. But against Asian team it would be real challenge. Indians play leggies better than anyone else, which is why Warne has pretty poor record against India.

Makes sense to give him a shot against the West Indies if we can get the 2 spinners at some point in the series as they're obviously looking ahead at quite possibly taking him to Australia this winter which will be the tougher challenge.

Crane is very talented and unless he goes totally of the rails like Schofield, he will get time and chances. Lets see how he does, the basics are solid.

Crane is a talent. Hope he gets a chance versus West Indies and I would be tempted to give him a go in the ashes.

Kuldeep Yadav vs Shadab Khan

Incredible hat trick by kuldy today, turned the whole match around. The boy has tons of potential.

Shadab has helped Pakistan win their first champions trophy, also showing mounds of potential, although he is a better batter and fielder than Kuldy.

But to me it seems like Kuldy will edge out Shadab, the hat trick today is proving it.

On a side note, both are cute cricketers! Let the battle of the leg spins commence!

:tahir2:yasir:shadab:shh

Never seen Crane before. Gee he gets some nice drift with a strong action.

Wonder if the Poms will know what to do with him though? Legspinners need a good captain.

Goodness me. He looks better than any other leg spinner right now.

You mustn't forget that international level batsmen are much better than this. Wouldn't be surprised if some reverse sweep every ball

Kuldeep is quite easily the better bowler, the amount of turn and the revolutions he imparts are unmatched by most modern day spinners. However, as an overall cricketer, I'd take Shadab, electric in the field, decent bowler and a capable middle-order batsman.

shadab is declining as a bowler. fast becoming a specialist fielder.

Should add Adam Zampa, Akila Dhananjaya and Rashid Khan to this list.

Gosh, there's a lot of under 25 wrist spinners going around with enormous amounts of potential. All of them have looked pretty promising thus far. Extremely excited to see more of Dananjaya as of now!

Are you for real? His career has JUST begun and I'm astonished to see that his so-called "decline" has arrived before he has even hit his zenith.

He's still bowling the way he did in his debut series. He was actually one of the main reasons we ended up winning the CT and if you're basing your opinion off of the Pakistan Cup then let me remind you that the world's premier Leggie failed on those pitches and the short boundaries.

Having an opinion is alright and I respect that but you should keep it to yourself if you have nothing to back it up with.

doesn't look like taking wickets these days and he is getting hit around a bit too much. he is not the bowler he was during the west indies tour.

First time I saw Crane and he does look like worth the hype. Good start for Kuldeep but the key is to learn quick and keep growing. The spinner I am most excited about from India is Rahul Chahar, insanely accurate and gives a big rip.

Looks promising. Not one googly in there. All traditional leg spinners.

Impressed with the turn he was getting. he is quicker through the air too like Rashid Khan.

Shadab has had a meteoric rise. Haven't seen the rest but Shadab is going to be around for a while and will only get better.

At this point in time Yadav is well ahead but as he plays more, his mystery will slowly recede. The other 2 are good young players and their time in the longer forms will come.

and when the other two play more won't their mystery slowly recede? even if his mystery recedes, left arm chinaman blowers are very rare. so if Kuldeep manages to work hard (atleast as much as other two) he will keep ahead of the pack.

Not to mention playing in IPL and bowling against best in the business will also help him build confidence. Many shrugs off IPL experience but in my view, IPL helps prepared players for international exposure. Chahal is also an IPL product in some way.

Ashwin, Jadeja, Chahal, Bhuvi, Bumhra, Pandya brothers, Lokesh Rahul (Got major eyeballs in 2016 due to his hitting ability)all benefitted immensely from IPL. I daresay even Dhoni, Rohit (two or three times IPL winner), Rahane (with Rajasthan royals), built their reputation in IPL. that is nearly 70 to 80 % of current Indian team either directly getting their stardom in IPL or benefitting hugely from playing.

One corollary to that is that, lots of players, like Styne, also stand exposed of their limited utility in shorter format game.

True, but the focus atm is on Yadav. The other bowlers will have success, will decline and if they survive the dip, then they will have a long career.

Among Mason and Shadab, i think Shadbad has a better chance to progress well and survive his dips. First of all Pakistan has a bowling culture in their rank and they have always had one very good leg spinner in their line up. He will also bowl to much better batsman at home and in Nets, which will force him to innovate/work hard to keep up his performance. That will lead to better temperament when he faces international teams who can play him better

Mason looks good, but he may get lots of confidence bowling to really poor English batsman. Once the reality hits him hard in Internationals the fall will be steeper.

All this is speculation anyway.. lets see how they progress. Someone has to tell Yadav that if he survives 50 Test matches and gets around 200 wickets he will probably end up as the greatest left arm wrist bowler. That achievement easily in his grasp and something he can keep it as a medium term goal (say 7 years). if he hits that goal he will be around 29/30 when most of the wrist spinners start peaking. It will be exciting times for him ahead.

Writing off an 18 year old really?! He's had a wonderful run in the PSL, CPL, won champions trophy, successful LOI tour of WI and now Big Bash recognition with a signing for Brisbane Heat following glowing review from McCullum.

What more can he do at his age?

Yadav is a joy to watch, and the better bowler of the 2, while Shadab is a better all around player.

I love Yadav's action and variation, I think he will have a good career.

Yadav is not a mystery spinner, he is a genuine spinner who turns the ball. Laughable comment.

Yadav is a better bowler than Shadab. Haven't seen Crane except in the videos in this thread. Reminds me of Stuart MacGill.
