Your most of prediction are complicated.

If Travis head is going to score more runs than likely to score more most 100s

Same for Cummins as most 5 wickets hauls bowler is going to take most Wickets.

India to win 5-0

Most runs - Virat Kohli( he is no Joe Root afterall :inti )

Most wickets - Pat Cummins

Most catches - Marnus

Player of series - Virat kohli

Most 100s - Virat Kohli

Most 5W hauls - Jasprit Bumrah

Are you serious? 5-0 to india ?

The "despite their formidable form" part of the thread title is starting to look like ancient history now.
This show that how is the momentum very important parts of cricket.

One series lost at home and Indian team is looking like Some low level team.

All the hype leads to the BGT and now Indian fans are not hopeful of positive results.

But one moments in 1st test can change all the momentum if india can do well there.

Indian team has no EXCUSE now, a team like Pakistan drubbing full strength Australia and Aussies struggling to dismiss even walking wickets like Saim and Abdullah Shafique.

Also Rpant, Bumrah, Kohli all available now

Indian batters have slapped Starc pretty harshly in last few series.
Australia need to show their nasty side if they want to win against India. Indian players love playing in Australia and love the occasion. Won't be surprised if it's another competitive series.

Winning a meaningless ODI match is alot easy compared to test match. recently Zimbabwe had won a odi against australia in australia.

India already won 4 series in a row vs aus.

We are out of form and injuries to shami has hurt india alot. Plus new blood to come in. I am expecting a 3-1 aus win. Will be surprisingly competitive I feel.

Aray bhai... bhai... bhai... bhai! :ROFLMAO:

Even after Pakistan series win in Australia?

Tests is different bro and we are badly missing shami. Peak shami was something else.

And batsmen the oldies are all out of form and shop worn.

But if we make proper selections then maybe a respectable 3-2 loss.

I just can't see us winning this time.

Yep Shami and Rauf both bowl nicely on Australian turf

Also rauf btw I have seen him play for second league in Australia. He bowled rockets in league cricket haha. Everyone was terrified to bat in the nets. He really has come a long way. BbL set him up for life.

Last time Australia won a test series against India was when MSD was our test skipper and Cummins yet to make his debut. They lost 4 consecutive BGT test series (2 each in home & away) after that. That is all I recall and why I am confident of making it 5 this time around.
Hopefully this champion Trophy problem will solved as soon as.

We are distracted from this big series pre talk due to CT .

Australian batters in test cricket cannot play fast bowlers (real ones, not 130kph merchants). I'm not as biased towards Pakistan as I once was & watching the Aus vs. Pak series made me realize that if Pak had one bowler like Bumrah in their ranks, they would have easily won 2 tests out of the three if not all 3 (no drop catches a must).

Pak literally dropped 5 chances a match & all at crucial junctures to let go of their advantage. An ordinary bowler like Amir Jamal troubled Aussie batters, the less said about Hamza et. al.

There's no way that India should lose this series. A 3-1 result in their favor is bare minimum that I expect from this Indian team. Krishna, Bumrah, & Siraj should trouble these overrated & over the hill Aussie players, all they have to do is to put aside their egos and play proper cricketers like Jurel & not over rely on Rahul etc.

Indian batting is very weak with ageing Rohit and Kohli .

No chance for india to win any test .

This Indian team relies on a couple of pace bowlers and one or two decent batsmen in Australian conditions. It is very difficult for them to not to lose a Test let alone winning them. I expect a whitewash by the Australian team.

"Never Got Chance...": Sunil Gavaskar's Hilarious Response On Rivalry With Allan Border Ahead Of India vs Australia Tests

The excitement is palpable with less than a week left for the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia. Named after former Australia captain Allan Border and India batting great Sunil Gavaskar, the series holds major significance due to the rivalry between the two cricketing powerhouses, especially in recent times. India have won each of their last two Test tours of Australia, and will be bidding for a third straight success Down Under. This will be the first time since 1991-92 that India and Australia will be playing a series comprising of five Tests.

Ahead of the series-opener in Perth, Gavaskar shared an interesting anecdote about the rivalry he has had with Border over the years.

Gavaskar came up with a hilarious response on being asked if he and Border have the same intensity, even though the two have become friends after their retiring.

"Well, because he's (Border) got me out, that's the problem. You see, he's got me out. I never got a chance to bowl to him. If I got a chance to bowl to him and get him out it might have been different. But you know he's a little, you know, things that you know, used to come in and do this and bowl. And can you imagine he got one ball to turn, and I played that down the wrong line, top edge and I was out," Gavaskar told 7Cricket.

Maybe the origins of naming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy started 45 years ago.

Because of Allan Border's three career Test wickets v India, one of those was ... Sunil Gavaskar.

For the record, Border only took 4 wickets in 20 Tests against India, and Gavaskar was one of his preys. Gavaskar reveals Border still mocks him, having got him out in 1979.

"So you know, I am reminded of it every time I bump into him. He comes and says 'Hello Bunny, how are you?' What do I say to that?," he revealed.

When India will take to the pitch at the Optus Stadium in Perth for the first Test of the highly-anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy, all eyes will be on star India batter Virat Kohli, who is perhaps battling the biggest form crisis of his career.

Across all formats in Australia, Virat has scored 3,426 runs at an average of 56.16, with 11 centuries and 19 fifties in 70 innings. His best score is 169.

Varat kohli averages 19.25 vs Patrick cummins. Got him out 3 times in 2018.

And he averages just 28 in the last 5 years overall in test cricket.

Yet this POS is allowed to play. Well done india.

Former Australian cricketer and head coach Justin Langer has cautioned against underestimating the Indian team in an interview with a local media outlet:

"And they'll be getting written off for being too old, but people say that all the time, and I just can't wait to see them play. I just hope, if this is the last time (Kohli) is out here, people enjoy it because he is a superstar, so is Rohit Sharma, so is (Ravi) Ashwin, so is (Ravi) Jadeja, so is (Jasprit) Bumrah."

"It's the same with the Australians; the bowling attack is a very senior attack now... so really enjoy it while you can; they are not going to be around forever."

"India losing to New Zealand is a bit like North Melbourne beating Brisbane in the grand final at the moment. And not for one millisecond is that disrespect for New Zealand, because they are the great overachievers; they are brilliant."

"I think they'd won two Test matches (in India), and to win the series 3-0, that's an amazing achievement. They've just been beaten three-nil by New Zealand, so India will be humbled by that and equally determined to remedy it because the pressure on them will be intense."

Speaking on local Australian sports media outlet, Michael Vaughan said:

“I can’t get my head around a team like India only wanting to play an intra-squad game leading into a series against Australia in their own backyard.”

“I just can’t see how you get yourself in that competitive mindset of consequence by playing an intra-squad game. Time will tell. I’m surprised that this Indian side didn’t want at least one game of cricket, and the WACA’s the perfect venue because it’s a similar pitch to Optus (Stadium), so you get used to the bounce.”

If India is good enough to win 1 test. they are good enough to win 2 tests as well. WHy some say 3-1, 4-1 for Australia. If India plays like they did against NZ they are not winning even a single test.

Kohli is not the same Kohli that used to do well in Australia. He struggled at his own IPl ground chinnaswamy.

If India loses 3-2 to Australia, in fact it will be a huge achievement and I will be extremely satisfied given the condition of the team now! Whitewash is whats bothering, I know Australia is no more a world-beating team (even in 2023 WC finals they just played the smart cricket on the given day by starting with right decisions at toss), but our current team is too fragile and they can easily give up under slightest pressure (that's why we lost to NZ at home in such a way).

Just that the opposition has to a smart team to beat this insipid current Indian Team under pale coach & captain! India at the moment will only win against dumb teams like Bangladesh, South Africa who dig their own grave. Australia belongs to "smart" team category like NZ...

spoiler alert is gonna soon change into the full movie of 5-0.
Don't think 5 0 is possible. One will rain out for sure.

But.... 3 -1 or 3 0 or 4 0 definitely possible.

When india lose badly, wonder If they will do a bollywood Netflix series about how Aussies brutally humiliated the Indians. How the empire has fallen. After 10 years of domination in BGT series.

‘It’s one we need to tick off’ - Hazlewood says Australia determined to beat India in a Test series

The grizzled pacer conceded that despite Australia having bested India to claim the World Test Championship 2023 Final, winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade was high up on their wishlist.

When Australia last bested India in a Test series, Josh Hazlewood made his debut in the longest format, as the hosts wrapped up a 2-0 win from four Tests.

10 years on, as the two teams brace themselves for five gruelling matches in the Australian summer, Hazlewood believes the hosts have their eyes firmly set on reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Speaking to the reporters ahead of the Perth Test, Hazlewood said, “I know there’s a lot of guys in the squad that have never beaten India in a Test series. Obviously we’ve beaten them in the World Test Championship Final but there are only a couple others who were there when we beat them 2-0 all the way back in 2014/15.

“Yeah, everyone is really determined. It’s sort of one that we need to tick off, as a group in particular.”

While India have emerged victorious over the last four Test series between the two nations - including their last two tours Down Under - the visitors arrive to these shores on the back of a numbing defeat at the hands of New Zealand at home.

Come the Perth Test, Hazlewood believes, India will be starting afresh under different conditions and a more relaxing atmosphere around the team.

“We have had overseas losses and then come, and played some good cricket. I think professional sportspersons can put those losses on the backburner pretty quickly these days and learn from it,” he said.

“In particular, when they are out of India, they might be able to relax a bit more. You know, not being under the hype of a home Test. Get into Australia, get out and about a little bit, relax and enjoy their freedom a little bit. The conditions being so different, it’s sort of a fresh start as well. I think they’ll be hungry, they’ll be ready to go,” Hazlewood added.

One of the notable absentees in the upcoming series, who featured heavily in India’s triumph over the last two tours, is Cheteshwar Pujara.

Hazlewood confessed that the stonewaller, who faced over 2200 deliveries and amassed 792 runs across eight Tests in Australia, not being part of the Indian squad for the five Tests are happy tidings for the pacer.

“I am happy that Puj (Pujara) is not here. He is obviously someone who bats time and spends a lot of time at the crease and makes you earn his wicket every time. Has done really well in Australia on previous tours."

Having replaced Pujara in the Indian lineup - at number three - Shubman Gill’s availability for the Perth Test has also been under doubt after he sustained a thumb injury in an intra-squad practice match at WACA.

Updating on the 25-year-old’s fitness, India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel on Wednesday said, "Shubman is improving on a day-by-day basis. We will take a call on the morning of the Test. He played well in the match simulation during the build-up, so fingers crossed."

India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel said during pre-match press conference:

“A lot of people would see how we go about our business here. But our key message is that it is important for us to put that aside. For any cricketer, when you come to Australia, you want to do well. This is where you make a name for yourself — on one of the biggest stages in the world to play cricket."

“To come up here and play good, solid cricket, score 500-600 runs in a series (or) take wickets (and) that puts yourself on a stage. It’s a fantastic carrot to dangle in front of Indian players."

“Partnerships are going to be crucial, protecting the partnership, getting through the new ball. Once the ball is softer, not to give it away, soft wicket. When we talk about those sort of blueprints, that is what we identify as areas that we can post a score on the board."

“As a batting unit, there’s been a lot of conversation on how they’re going to go about finding a blueprint to put runs on the board."

“When I was playing back in the day, I found that if you can fight through tough periods and not give it away softly, at the end of the day, that is sort of the way you want to play your brand of cricket."

Yuvraj Singh while speaking to a local news media outlet:

"They are under pressure after the 0-3 loss to New Zealand at home. That’s hurt them a lot. They want to prove a point in Australia and win there. That’s the mindset you need to have. You can’t go to Australia and have a mentality of drawing the series."

"They’re going to look to dominate you. It’s going to be hard to beat Australia. But you’ve done that twice in the past. So there’s no reason you can’t do it again. But for that, the top guys have to fire; Jasprit Bumrah has to take wickets. I back India to win, but we must remember that Australia will also be prepared."

Told you. India in Australia is a totally different team. Australians don't mind losing to them

Or maybe it's the end of you. Their still 4 tests left. Sabar

King Kohli has scored 7th test century in australia .

Jaiswal has scored 1st test century in his first test at Perth.

Australia change the venues to win the opening game of the series but they are going to lose this test with a big margins .

Embarassing and shameful performances. :shh :kp

Who has the bigger trophy cabinet? Aus or Ind? First year aus's classic streak and then surpass mcgrath.

Then why would they smash us in 2023 wc final. And beat us in wtc final Albeit in a one off rubbish game post ipl?

Nonsense hot take

Just as I said, there is no way Australia are favorites after losing at home for 2 times in a row
India are on their way to win the BGT for the 5th time in a row.
Yet everybody here has rated this series more than every event in cricket history.
Has to be the most overhyped series in cricket now.

Either a draw or a Australia series win.

Aussies proven to be short of a gallop in this test Match, with their previous test matches were back in March, whilst India who were walloped by the kiwis, had Three tough test matches which gave them the competitive edge the Aussies lacked.

These are two aging boxers taking flailing blows at each other so the margins are very fine and anyone can win on their day depending on luck with the toss, favourable conditions, edges going to hand vs. the ground, umpire's call decisions.

Continuing that analogy, I would say Australia still have the better all-round game but India have the best knockout blow in Bumrah.

Yep but we are more in transition. I would say it's like we are now holyfield and facing tyson at the minute.

Holyfield that just lost before to bowe. But can still beat anybody on its day. We are coming up again though.

Since @Devadwal 0-5 thread premise redundant now so will Indian team be strong enough to gift the same fate to this thread🤔
My thread has an hidden inside story which most of pakistan fan's won't understand .

Now you have to wait for next test to finished if india can win 2nd test than no one can Stop India to win this series .:kp

It was always visible, we all are aware of your reverse psychology posting 😜

4 tests are left in this series. Lots of teams did not do much after being 1-0 in the first test.

Not lot but India itself in 2013 in England actually did well in first 2 tests and then lost the series.

Tbh apart from Travis Head and Mitchel Marsh, there is no real game changer for Australia with the bat. These players are also horribly inconsistent and only play well in 1 innings out of 5. Steve Smith is no longer the same player that he was in his prime pre-ban, he has been playing on past laurels. Australia do not have an opener who can get them off to a fast ruthless start, David Warner's retirement has hit them hard. Zero quality in Australia's batting. If you don't go hard against the likes of Bhumrah, Siraj and co, they will walk over you.

Enough said about Australia's bowlers i.e. Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins, Lyons against India's batters in Australia. These bowlers have failed Australia against India in Australia for 3 consecutive series in a row. They are now permanently scarred. Unless Australia gambles with some fresh new unscarred bowlers, they will fail yet again as well.
