India leading the series after a nail-biter. Which tells me that SL are quite capable of turning tables.

Team India wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson has been ruled out of the remainder of the 3-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. Samson hurt his left knee while attempting to field a ball near the boundary ropes during the 1st T20I at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

He was taken for scans and a specialist opinion this afternoon in Mumbai by the BCCI Medical Team and has been advised rest and rehabilitation.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Jitesh Sharma as replacement for Sanju Samson.

Squads:

Hardik Pandya (Captain), Ishan Kishan (wk), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav (VC), Deepak Hooda, Rahul Tripathi, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Umran Malik, Shivam Mavi, Mukesh Kumar.

Sri Lanka Squad: Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis(w), Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka(c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madushanka, Lahiru Kumara, Dunith Wellalage, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Avishka Fernando, Ashen Bandara, Pramod Madushan, Nuwan Thushara

Pathetic from Sanju Samson who can't even grab his place when given one full series to do that. Hope his fans don't start whining on twitter again if Kishan is persisted now ahead of him. :inti

Jitesh had a very good IPL season as a finisher. He was next only to DK in terms of finishing among Indians with very high strike rate.

India have won the toss and have opted to field

Teams:

Sri Lanka (Playing XI): Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis(w), Dhananjaya de Silva, Charith Asalanka, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Dasun Shanaka(c), Wanindu Hasaranga, Chamika Karunaratne, Maheesh Theekshana, Kasun Rajitha, Dilshan Madushanka

India (Playing XI): Ishan Kishan(w), Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, Rahul Tripathi, Hardik Pandya(c), Deepak Hooda, Axar Patel, Shivam Mavi, Umran Malik, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal

Shanaka: Stats suggest batting first is better. Would've batted. Important for top order to click in. I think players will do well in this game.

Hardik: Going to bowl first. Thought that the dew might come later, and the wicket looks good and shouldn't change. Oh I didn't know that (teams batting first have better record here). Happy with the way we bowled and fielded. At the Wankhede to defend 160, bowlers did a great job. Tripathi makes his debut. Arshdeep comes back in place of Harshal

Regardless of the result, team balance is wrong IMO. 6 batsmen, 1 psuedo AR and 4 bowlers for whom batting is an afterthought.

You cannot attack from the word go with that lineup.

Arshdeep is the next bubble in line to get burst. Cannon fodder.

Yuzi Chahal performing well here is danger sign for Indian cricket

Indian bowlers are scratchy. SL is getting away with edges, slashes in addition to generous noballs.

Chahal getting destroyed in his final over. Got to give away some sixes. Otherwise, he would not be Chahal.

Umran has definitely intimidated SL. They are stuck at the crease waiting for the pacy ball

What happened to Mavi? Why is he bowling at 120k's? Unless he is injured or coming back from injury, there is no excuse to bowl at that pace. Its like he is bowling spin running after 300 yards.

If the new Mavi will bowl at this pace in the future, he should be kicked out with immediate effect.

3 wickets for Umran. Sad day for those fans who called him a fast car without brakes. :ab :inti

He is a spray gun. Can go for plenty. But he is a match winner too. He is like a Lockie Ferguson or Adam Milne at this point. You need an enforcer in the bowling attack to put opposition under pressure.

Umran is not a spray gun. He is very accurate.

Chahal could have easily pushed the ball back and prevented the six. But he ball bursts through his hands and goes for a six.

In modern day cricket it would be considered an easy catch. You can parry it in and take it easily.

Lol wth.. catch taken taken but another no ball.. at least it's from other end..

This will be a great opportunity for Indian batsmen to showcase their skills. Enough runs for all of the batsmen to have a go at the total.

Mavi is overhyped ,he don't have any skill to succeed in international level

such a rubbish stadium with mini boundaries. each and every mishit carried for a six.
coupled with indisciplined bowling.

Indian bowlers had an off day.

Umran had an okay day and Arshdeep was super expensive.

Chahal only went for 7.5 RPO. Surely an off day for all Indian bowlers.

Unusual day for Chahal also considering the lowly benchmark he has set for himself.

He is like Ajit Agarkar who was a wickettaker too but Umran has got speed advantage. He can run through batting lineups. :inti

Great opportunity for Tripathi and Gill to show what they are made of. Lots of runs to chase and they are only in 2nd over.

Ball is doing a lot and Indian batsmen are playing too many shots. Tripathi gone too.

So its all on SKY and Pandya.

India needs to play out a couple of overs to see off the massive swing.

Pandya gone too. No one is looking to play a few deliveries to see off the swing. Too many shots being played when the ball is swinging a lot.

" Keep going after ball" approach is failing badly against swinging balls. You can't slog at Pune under lights. It swings big here. Pandya wanted a challenge so he chose to field first lol Epic fail.

Indian fans should be worried if likes of Hooda are the top upcoming batsmen

Hooda is utter trash batsman.

Look at Pandya quota players in this team :

Gill - Gujarat Titans player
Hooda- Gujarat player
Axar- Gujarat player

None of these three are good enough in 20-20. Axar is somewhat okay.
