Fair point.

I also think he should’ve retired after 2015 WC. SL must look to find replacements. They need to get Sanga, Mahela into the coaching roles. SLCB is as corrupt as any so I don’t see any changes there.
 
Srilanka almost gave Australia a scare and I think they can beat England here, it’s the bowlers who wins you matches, we need a couple desperately.
 
And we thought Pakistan could beat Sri Lanka on a green pitch
 
OOF, England bowing down to Sri Lanka. England are nothing once they play a decent bowling attack with good fielding.

He was one of them. England are not limited in terms of batting depth, there plenty of others too. After the WC I’d give Sam billings a good run.

Srilanka has a good pace attack, I won’t be surprised if they beat England. Then they will be on 6 points, they can win over West Indies and South Africa so 10 points. They have a shot on making the semis
 
Was hoping for Sri Lanka win. Had they got 250 plus , it may have been a closer game.

Are you brit eng born? Come on. Got to show England some love ji. I get you’d support your motherland/origin against England but against others England should get support. That’s how I see it anyway.
 
The Sri Lankans channeled the spirit of 2011 Malinga to the bowling attack and are making England bow down.

It seems England really struggle in such wickets which is slow ish, sticky and has a bit of grip in the wicket.

What’s exactly changed for England, England’s had most of these batsmen in 2015 wc too what’s changed is the mentality, approach towards ODI/LOI and hence the beliefs have gone sky high, playing such brand of cricket and scoring 400s with ease.

But on slow gripping sticky wickets Englands power hitters don’t have the freedom to fully open up the arms and muscle it with the big hits. This is where England might struggle if they play against India in the semis or final, and wicket has anything of such slowness.

England cant play on any wicket that offers support to bowlers.

This is the best batting line up ever for ENG in ODI's , there is no chance of losing. Stokes and Buttler if they do not get put early match will be over in next 15 overs else will drag past 40 overs.

233 is not a big score, even if they play 10 more overs slowly they will win.
 
SL needed to get 260-270. 270 is such a good score in WC’s in such wickets. Both BD and SA if they had 270 against NZ, they both would’ve won.
 
We need this pitch vs England if we them in knockouts.

Edgbaston whoever plays India will be embarrassed, Tahir made Williamson look like a tailendar and he was lucky with that edge.

Manchester less said the better, Kuldeep got Babar the heart Trob of PP with a gem of a delivery, ball of the tournament. So question is who will play India in the finals.

Lanka are better than recent results suggest. They just can't press home an advantage. They have talent and skilled young cricketers. They will be a force again in a few years.

Aging Malinga is still 100x better than a lot of overrated super stars like Fizz, Hasan Ali, etc.
 
This guy Malinga is still their best player. This actually tells this game is still about skill than power. Almost single-handed given SRL a chance here.
 
If englnad lose today (which look still unlikely )then their chance of reaching semifinal surly hurt
 
If pitch is not flat, Eng batsman cant do jack. They have been deceiving the world with their plat pitches all these times.

Yes I am Brit born. I can support who I want. The reason I want Sri Lanka to win is because I like them and it also benefits Pakistan if Sri Lanka win.
 
I want pak to go to the semis but I want want eng to win today too. It's a big dilemma.

Exactly why Mathews slow painstaking innings was extremely crucial. People here just harp on about Strike Rates but it was Mathews innings that gave SL some semblance of a total to defend. Whether they can defend or not is another matter.

This is the sort of innings that misbah used to play and give Pakistan something to bowl at. People have to understand that teams like SL and Pakistan don't have quality batsmen so guys like Mathews and Misbah have to build these painstaking innings for their bowlers. You put Mathews and Misbah in England's line up and then see their Strike Rates shoot up.

These days, Imam's role is to anchor the innings and he's been doing it pretty well in recent times (excluding the world cup). So people need to understand each person's role in the context of their team and not compare batsmen to the likes of Roy, Buttler, Kohli.
