10 runs of 18 balls, watch how these guys mess it up from here

If India had 10 more runs it would have put it beyond the range of these lulloos

This match shows how any average team can beat any other team if it is their day..

We needed to batted sensibly and match was ours. Its good that our without Kohli overconfident top order was given a reality check

Indeed.

To be honest, we have 3 hit or miss T20 batsmen in our team (current form).

Rahane, Dhoni and YUvi.

Well played both India and sri-lanka.
This is just pre-ICC tournament bad patch. :))

That is why I'm against the people who are already predicting the winners and losers of the WT20.

In this format even a lulloo side can beat you if its their day.

How long will MSD masquerade as a T20 player? He is a ODI bat. Never seen him play well in a T20 International. All he has to show is some slog innings in IPL.

Time to kick out MSD from T20. He needs to stick to ODI's.

Yup. Said the same thing above..

SL unknown XI actually batted better than India. Cause of concern for the think-tank. Hope we get a better pitch else we may be shot out for a low score (but so will India). Will probably be a flatter pitch though.

No kicking out Dhoni.

We have to accept him for this WC T20 after which he will retire. No way out.

I just hope we have a XI sans Rahane and Yuvi for WC.

But then selectors dropped Pandey.

Shantanu: "So Ashwin, Nehra didn't finish their quota and Bumrah bowled an in consequential over at the end. While Raina and Pandya bowled too many. Dhoni really should have attacked more."

India would have easily scored >140 even here, only if our top order played a little sensibly. Way too overconfident.

Rahane, Dhoni and YUvi.

Yuvi is never going to re-build from a crisis, he can atmost give a good finish to the innings if the platform is set or finish off a match if it is his day.
He is not going to rebuild in a crisis and he is definitely not going to be the mainstay of a chase.

DanielAlexander: "Sri Lanka regain the No. 1 T20I spot" -- Yup. India slip down to No. 3.

Really?

:)))

Dhoni's captaincy is suited to mostly to flat roads or pitches where it turns on bouncy or green pitches he is clueless.

Dhoni becomes a superhuman when the spinners get a bit of turn. He's ineffective elsewhere

That's in LOIs. In tests he is clueless on flat pitches, lets the game drift away.

IMO his success depends more on the opposition bowling attack and pitch rather than the situation that he comes in at.

Don't see him succeeding against a high-quality pace attack unless its an absolute patta but still looks good enough to smash medium pacers & spinners.

Dhoni is furious at the pitch, calling it 'English' conditions :))) sensible-indian-fan #GreenRoars

Wow had no idea about this match. Like literally didn't even know the series was going to take place which is quite surprising for me.

Surprised there was no hype on it either. Even on PP Indian posters didn't make any pre series threads.

Yeah since he's comeback from cancer he can't play high pace at all.
Before that he used to have a problem with swing but not pace,, now he can't even play pace anymore.

Same here, had no idea of the match till I heard a TV on at full blast in the neighbourhood.

Lankans bowled exceptionally well. Good wake up call for Indian batters.

I'm amazed at this one sided result, thought this second string SL team were gonna be slaughtered. Should be handling a bit of swing from a SL debutant lot better.

Who knows, maybe this is the precursor of things. ICC probably is tired of all the run fests and complaints from bowlers. This T20 WC is probably going to be bowling friendly with spin or seam. Indians probably got a wind of it and are practising on these pitches. A bit farfetched but what else could be the reason for a green pitch in an obscure T20 game.

Indian domestic has green pitches and groundsmen were too lazy to make it flat for just a 3hr match :misbah

well that's because It was India and Sri lanka playing together.

Actually, Indian wickets are fantastic for cricket, it's the best in world now. The groundsmen are extremely proficient for major grounds & they know exactly what they want & what to do. Wickets are built on rock hard base, with adequate amount of clay & live grass root in it. Depending on the watering, rolling (weight of the roller as well) & mowing - Indian groundsmen actually can deliver exactly the sort of wicket is asked for. It can be a Mohali like rank turner, to a Mumbai run feast or a Bangalore cracker. It takes greatest level of professional competence to play dirty, something BCCI did with PAK in 2007 CT - that Mohali wicket produced 550+ & 500+ within 6 days time, but in between SAF pacers, sent PAK back home for 87 & BCCI was happy that they didn't require extra efforts to host PAK at Mumbai. Along with that, Indian grounds has the fastest outfields in world, which makes it perfect for exciting cricket.

I think, for this T20, they kept a bit of live grass on the surface, something they did in the Bangalore T20 in 2012, which made this a 125 per match. This is probably to test their batting strength on a bit of lively wicket after blowing Australia on belters. But, this is a perfect wicket with even pace & good bounce, where batsmen can enjoy value for their timing. Take couple of mm grass out, put lots of water & roll with the heaviest roller for 3 days, this same wicket 'll become 180 per ground; while before a Test match, groundsmen can stop watering for 7 days, the grass 'll die, "soft roll" for 5 days, so that the moisture deep below the surface don't come up, but the top surface becomes dry & brittle, then use the heavy roller for last 2 days to unsettle the top surface - Ash 'll again take 12 wickets against SAF on that surface.

Preparing cricket wicket is a professional Civil engineering/soil science job; not for pindus that learned from their grand father & limited to the knowledge of 1960s, with the attitude that there doesn't exist anything beyond their knowledge. Few months back, BCB appointed 6 groundsmen for it's 6 regional grounds - the ad asked for soil science graduates or structural engineers, with cricket background as something "good to have".

Lol wake up to see India rolled for 100 runs :))

Over reliance on Kohli and in his absence India can't even defeat a second string SL team at home. Rohit Sharma what a consistent beast!

i dont know why countries dont just roll out green wickets against india all the time.

Because India won a test match against England on a green deck. Green decks don't guarantee an Indian loss.

Rohit made 2 consecutive 50s in T20s and fails in one match and you're back to talking about his consistency.

There has been no player in the history of the game who matches your definition of "consistent".

Yes sir coz Rohit is Mr dependable for India. I already told you in a previous thread I rate KW, VK, Root, Sanga, AB as much better batsmen than this guy.

In the recent Australia series: must win situation for india, 2-0 down in the series, Rohit hits a blistering 6 runs before he gets out. Mr dependable did a great job and I'm sure you appreciated him for those wonderful 6 runs.

His duck last night must have been a fantastic for you as well. With such low expectations from fans such as yourself no wonder India hasn't won an ODI series for more than a year, but you are still very content with their performances.

I will give you this though Mr dependable is a very good flat track bully. Probably the best in this current generation. No good on any other kind of pitch, even against a team as weak as this SL team. But anyway keep enjoying his big daddy hundreds in losing causes. Toodles.
