Yeah and what about the other innings when his neck isn't on the chopping block?..

I'd prefer Umar Akmal over Shafiq personally as well. But how can you argue that Umar is miles ahead based on "Stats"? Similar averages, and Umar has also played 15+ tests (and started with a 100 on debut, none since then.....)

Again, I'd prefer Umar just for his raw talent, but I can easily see why Asad would be picked over him.

So what? After those 4 hundreds his average is still mid 30's, that too at 6. KW at 3 averages more and has 7 hundreds at the age of 23, and he's actually a youngster.

Who's comparing him with KW. As long as Asad's scoring runs we are happy. Yes he lacks consistency at times but you have to give breathing space to the developing batsmen;cant just drop them after a few failures. Had he not scored runs in this series then I might have replaced him. BUT your comment that Asad should fail so that Umar makes it into the team was disgraceful.

Just woke up...YK is such a beast! Shafiq looks to be playing well too

You brought up number of hundreds, just showing how minuscule that number is when compared to younger players.

Rate him more than inconsistent Shafiq.

Your legend has shown even an ordinary cricketer can give a good day :afridi

I wouldn't hesitate to put inconsistent Shafiq in the same bracket as inconsistent Latham just by looking at his poor run of form for NZ A team and other forms of cricket.

Why compare Shafiq to Latham, why not compare him to Neesham? Latham is a top order batsmen.

Problem is those younger players are not ours. We are happy as long as Asad scores runs when needed, only haters will pray for his failures even when the team is in the crisis.

Because Neesham is an all rounder whereas Asad is a pure batsman just like Latham. Asad plays at number 6 due to the requirement of the team. It's like comparing Afridi with Darren Bravo.

50 for asad and 100+ partnership, just what we needed after being 3 down for next to nothing!

It's nice to see that Misbah backs his players and gives them sufficient number of innings to prove themselves.
Personally I would prefer Akmal in place of Khuram with Azhar opening. And Akmal at 6 and Shafiq at 4

A/R Neesham already has half the number of centuries as Man of no consistency in just 6 Tests.

Lets wait and see if Neesham can match Man of no consistency by scoring 2 tons against the best Test team home and away against the best bowling attack, in addition to having a batting lineup prone to collapses
