the true passionist said:I have not seen Nazir recently but i doubt that he has improved his technique since he last played for Pakistan. He has played 70+ matches, even more that Salman Butt.
He may be good for T20 but absolutely not good enough for ODIs. He is a hit and miss player. Afridi will do a better job opening the innings than Nazir.
What? This is Imran Nazir you are talking about right? I have watched almost every single innings Nazir has played, the only delivery he might be susceptible to might be the inswinging yorker. Frankly, I don't quite remember Nazir ever struggling against a bowler. Even against the Irish in WC07 where our 'big three' got found out big time, he was looking like he could hold his ownthe true passionist said:1- His technique is not fine; he is absolutely horrible against the incoming delivery.
2- The place to judge his temperament is not international cricket but domestic/A-level cricket. Just as we did with Fawad/Umar Akmal.

GLORY OF '92 said:Yeah very flat pitch. Need to get a lot of runs today and then bowl well.
Raz said:I really cannot see Nazir doing any worse than Akmal at the moment. Akmal in the first two matches had starts and then gave it away. Nazir, when he gets a start usually makes the most of it.
And now as I say that Akmal plays two excellent shots, once smashed over the on side for 4, the second a beautiful drive through the covers for 4.

Need to rotate the bowlers; Gul's had 3 tests and 2 odis on the trot. Remember this is a guy who's had back problems since '04.iafzal said:We should have stuck with Gul. This pitch is not the typical semaing pitch and so Rana will probably be useless.
the true passionist said:1 - Nazir is not competing for Akmal's spot. He is fighting for Butt/Jamshed's position since by opening with Akmal we create space for an additional middle order batsman.
2- If Nazir is competing for Akmal's spot, it is not sufficient that he is as good as Akmal. He has to be much better because Akmal also keeps the wicket and a makeshift opener, back to point 1.

Auwais Ahmed: "For all those bashing Nasir and Younis, I would like to say that Nasir came into this series with and avarage of 40+ and no major failure in his career. The reason he was out of team was beacuse of injury not bad form. So he definitely deserved a chance and was not fair to drop him without playing him. What happened to Nasir has happened so many times to Imaran Nazir as well in his career."
fair enough, no?
