Match scheduled to begin in less than an hour.

However weather says it raining hard and toss might be delayed by an hour.

As expected Rain delay. However, there is no more rain prediction for rest of the day but God knows.

We will observe these rain interruptions every day at Galle.

This looks promising

Good to hear, going to stream the match on my mobile at college, if there's rain, I'll have to listen to the boring lectures :))

rain stopped but prolly match wont start on time. atleast 30 mins delay should be there

toss hasnt even happened yet

My lecture starts at 10:30 PST, which is an hour from now, hopefully we'll have started by then.

Match is being broadcasted live on Ten Sport's youtube channel for specific regions

They should do what they do in soccer/football, just play in the rain. Use bigger studs on shoes.

If u guys are looking for a broadcast you came watch it on YouTube, it's being broadcast live by Ten Sports

SLC does this shiiiiit all the time. Broke arrse SLC is happy long as they are hosting.

12:00 Local Time, 06:30 GMT, 12:00 IST: This tweet from Roshan Abeysinghe gives everyone no hope: 'Not sure about having play today at all. Taking the covers off with so much of water on it, is a challenge by itself. Need strong sunshine'

So far an excellent start from the boys, good performances from...wait what ?!

That picture suggests we aren't gonna have any play at all, outfield will be soaked.

Rain rain go away come back another day.

Pathetic planning. And its not for the first time that a tour has been planned to SL in this season. Repeat offenders should not be forgiven. Wont let a fan watch cricket in peace. Bloody hell!!!

Its not offficial, but play for the 1st day should be called off anytime now. You guys should start doing something else.

Reports coming in no chance of rain today

Started raining again and its harder than any other time during the morning

yaar what a waste of staying up late.

match bhi nahi hwa. neend bhi kharab. aur 5 ghantay mai uthna hai ab

Since the administrators are hell-bent on scheduling cricket matches during monsoon, they should play when its just drizzling like they do at Leeds (I heard)

All Subcontinent teams should be touring England/Australia/Africa during the months of June and July. Horrendous planning.

June-July is winter in Australia and it's been raining all week here in Sydney, so cricket can't be played here this time of year either. Only the West Indies and England are safe bets.

Sri Lanka is the worst place to play cricket after Pakistan.

Game should have been played at a venue where it doesnt rain at this of year

How are Bangladesh, WI and India any better?

Not every series in the last 3-4 years has been ruined by rain, but that seems to be the case in Sri Lanka.

Only Pakistan is worse because we like to welcome teams with terrorists, and I suppose not getting to play because of rain is much better than that.

The number of matches that have been ruined by rain due to Sri Lanka over the years is ridiculous.

Cricket should be played in karachi
No rain at all from long time

Not even the weather that would be the biggest issue, it's footy season and they have control of all the major cricket grounds so even if the weather was perfect the broadcasters don't want home cricket this time of year and we have no major grounds free to host it anyway.

Who actually 'owns' the cricket grounds? Is it CA, the state associations, or local clubs; or is it the AFL and NRL? The way the AFL carries on over the MCG - I remember they were trying to be exceptional badasses around the time Australia bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, as though their provincial little game is bigger than football - one would think they owned the stadium.

My sister actually works for the gabba and that is a government company so the gabba at least is state owned, pretty sure all the major grounds are owned by state governments and then run by government appointed trusts or companies but i guess they do what the AFL tells them as they provide the more regular business compared to international cricket.

SLC should have their heads in their arses. There are two dry zone venues in Dambulla and Hambantota which are bone dry during the SW monsoon period. Pallekele is the next driest area. Tests should have been Dambulla, Hambantota and Pallekele.

Darwin and Cairns should be hot enough. Dry zone of SL would be good as well.

It is funny how Dambulla is only like 150 KM away from Colombo but yet it is dry as hell through out the year and then there is Colombo .

Agreed but calling Pakistan the worst place is OTT. We have the best crowds but the security situation messes the whole situation. Otherwise Pakistan is an excellent place to tour.

Day 2 but for all intents and purposes Day 1

anyone have any idea abt the conditions?

if all goes acc to plan toss should be happening soon

News is its pouring down in Galle

Covers were brought off and as soon as they were it started raining again so back on now :)))

Swift movement among the groundstaff, says our Pakistan correspondent Umar Farooq. They are removing the tyres from on top of the covers. There is quite some water on top of the sheets. It is a touch overcast, but not raining.

100% chance for thunderstorm . Both teams should get together and say "screw this we'll just play a 50 over match". Waste of a Test match. 2 more matches for Sanga.

It would be fun seeing an ODI in whites. It's been a while. Also what are all the behind the scene issues that can't make this happen?
