Messi [best fielder in Pakistan] exhibiting great technique there, handing the ball first and then controlled the ball beautifully with his knee, well done.

erm no it was not a fluke spell. Wahab is a very good bang the pitch bowler however that style of bowling does not work in sub cont unless you are Akhtar/Lee level express. Wahab would be an asset on our away tours next year if he stays fit.
 
I think we just lost our spinner. Seems like Yasir got injured badly, oh well.
 
I feel Junaid needs to have a good series to keep him place in the side.

If he keeps bowling that batsmen will adjust, not to mention he troubled Watson and Clarke (bad back) only, other quality batsmen will adjust and outsmart his pea sized brain.

But yes it will look good on the cameras, to see a few fly past the batsmen's ears even if they will have the last laugh. At least better than what we are witnessing now.
 
Our best spinner might be injured as well, mashAllah this is just wonderful.
 
Junaid is a finished article, replace him with Amir from September onwards. Offers nothing anymore.

a lot would depend on who is bowling with him from the other end. If someone like Amir is back to his best pitching it up and swinging they will take on Wahab and that will get him the wickets. However if its Junaid bowling at his current level they will sit on Wahab and cash in on him when he tires.
 
wins the toss bowls first and then brings spin on from over 10. #Misbahlogic.
 
Our bowling and fielding are keep getting worse. We will be no.10 in test once Misbah, Younis retire!!!
 
Sums up your pacers when you bring a spinner after 10 overs on day 1, that too on a gloomy day.
 
Junaid should be kicked out!!! Even Sohail Tanvir/Yasir Arafat are better bowler than him. A useless bowler indeed
 
Seems like Junaid is hoping to get some lucky wickets as he is not getting any swing.
 
Juniad looks done usually he bowls well vs SL but he looks beyond ordinary here.
 
Waiting for Bilal7 to come and praise how Junaid has been swinging the ball or argue that it is not possible to swing it in these conditions.

Forget swing, he also has the least threatening bouncer.
 
Ineffectual opening bowling. Even in overcast conditions pacers unable to offer genuine swing.

This is poor. Where is Sohail Khan?
 
Sohail Khan deserves to play on merit in light of the filth Junaid has been bowling, and he's far from convincing himself. Very sorry state indeed.
 
Finally, but I am more interested in K. Silva. This guy is hard to dislodge, and here comes the legend now.

Wahab is not a new ball bowler, this is the first time I have seen him opening the bowling in a test for a long time.

His wicket was in his 2nd spell. He is doing a great job.

Junaid can't swing the ball and will be replaced by Amir in September. We need Sohail Khan right now.
 
Wahab v Sanga should be a good contest here... we need another couple wickets in this 1st session after deciding to bowl 1st.
 
Pakistan could have had both Sri Lanka openers early had Wahab not overstepped and Yasir not dropped a chance. There has been no swing, the pitch has played slow, and Sangakkara has survived a bouncer test from Wahab.

So a catch dropped and a no-ball from Wahabi. :facepalm:
 
We need at least 7 more wickets in next 2 sessions if we want to win this. But Misbah would probably prefer to have a boring draw.
 
Junaid Khan is so rubbish, even Sohail Tanvir is better than him.

Rahat Ali is being missed, at least he could trouble the batsman
 
Stop blaming Misbah for everything. Yes it wasn't a good decision to bowl first, but the conditions are conductive for bowling, it's just that we are crap.

Wahab has been much better than Junaid, but his mode of attacking will not yield more than 2-3 wickets on these pitches. Unless he learns to swing the ball and starts pitching it up, he will not prove to be a match-winning bowler.

Less said about Junaid the better.

Had we batted first in the conditions and were 2-3 down in the first session, same people would be blasting Misbah.

Blame the bowlers, not him.
 
Junaid Khan should not play for Pakistan again after this series

Mohammad Amir, Wahab and Rahat should be our main bowlers
 
Our fast bowling department is worse than India, truth needs to be spoken
 
Really missing Rahat. He's by far our best Test bowler currently.

Wahab and Rahat should be our main bowlers, Ehsan should replace Junaid. When Amir comes back, he should easily slot in.
 
Rahat will never be a top bowler unless he develops bowling intelligence and improves his attitude, but he indeed has some skill with the ball and can produce some quality spells, even if it's a fluke (as per his own words).

He should replace him in Tests and Sohail should replace Junaid in ODIs, in fact he was picked ahead of him but got injured prior to the Bangladesh series.

When/if Amir regains some for and rhythm, he can replace both Rahat and Sohail in Tests and ODIs respectively.

He looked harmless as a 3 yr old girl its a sort of spell you expect Miohammad Hafeez to bowl at Headingley Day 1 under overcast skies.
 
pakistan needs to get a couple of wickets and they will be right on top. babar is bowling beautifully.
 
Was Misbah right to bowl first ? Don't like prospect of facing Herath on Day 4 or 5.

Rain might prevent that from happening anyway.
 
We dont want to be over bowling out seamers here on what is the 1st day of this match.
 
Bowling first back firing? How can u bowl first even in under cast conditions when ur fast bowlers cant swing the new ball? Are we missing Ehsan Adil? Lets hope these 2 fast bowlers can at least cause damage with the old ball!
