State Bank win Patron’s Trophy Grade II tournament by defeating HEC by 499 runs

Lahore, 13 April 2019: The 16-team Patron’s Trophy Grade-II cricket tournament will commence across eight different centres of the country from Sunday, 14 April. All matches, except the final, which will be played from 1-4 May at Pindi Cricket Stadium, will be three-day non first-class fixtures.

The 16 teams have been equally divided into four pools, with the pool-toppers progressing to the semi-finals to be played at the Diamond Cricket Ground and Pindi Cricket Stadium from 27-29 April.

The pools are:

Pool A – Civil Association Authority, Haideri Traders, Navy and Omar Associates. All matches will be played in Karachi and will be shared between National Bank Complex, State Bank ground and UBL Sports Complex.

Pool B – Candyland, Capital Development Authority, Ghani Glass and Port Qasim Authority. All matches will be split between Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, and R.Naveed Academy, Sheikhupura.

Pool C – Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan International Airlines and State Bank. All matches will be shared between Army Cricket Ground and Diamond Cricket Ground.

Pool D – K-Electric, Karachi Port Trust, Railways and Sabir’s Paultry. All matches will be played in Lahore and will be shared between the LCCA Ground and Railway Stadium.

Patron's Trophy Grade-II Day One Summary

Lahore, 14 April 2019: The Partron’s Trophy Grade II tournament started today at eight venues across the country. In Pool ‘A’ match between Haideri Traders and Omer Assciates at the State Bank Ground in Karachi on Sunday, Haideri Traders after being put into bat were bowled out for 158 in 67.1 overs. For Haideri Traders, Muhammad Usman top-scored with 83-ball 34. Muhammad Irfan took four wickets for 39 for Omer Associates. Omer Associates at stumps were 81 for the loss of three wickets. Arsalan Bashir is 53 not out off 68 balls with seven fours and a six.

In another Pool ‘A’ match between Pakistan Navy and Civil Aviation Authority at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi, Pakistan Navy were bowled out for 210 in 52.5 after being put into bat. Wasim Ahmed scored an unbeaten 86-ball 66 with 10 fours. For Civil Aviation Authority, Mirza Ahsan took six for 62. In reply, Civil Aviation Authority were 104 for two at stumps with Ashfaq Ahmed contributed with 49 not out off 73 balls.

In the first match of Pool (B) between Port Qasim and Candyland at the Rana Naveed Academy in Sheikhupura, Port Qasim after being put into bat were dismissed for 277 in 79.1 overs. Khurram Manzoor top-scored with 126-ball 67 with seven fours. For Candyland, Tayyab Riaz grabbed five wickets for 65. In reply, Candyland were 12 for the loss of one wicket at stumps.

In the second match of Pool (B) between Higher Education Commission and Ghani Glass at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, Higher Education Commission after being put into bat were 282 for five at stumps. Fahad Usman top-scored with 183-ball 107 with 14 fours.

In the first match of Pool (C) between State Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan Army at the Army Cricket Ground in Rawalpindi, State Bank of Pakistan were bowled out for 332 in 82.1 overs after being put into bat. For State Bank of Pakistan, Usman Salahuddin top-scored with 180-ball 97 with nine fours. For Pakistan Army, Hamza Khan took five for 84. In reply, Pakistan Army were 19 for the loss of two wickets at stumps.

In the second match of Pool (C) between Pakistan International Airline and Pakistan Air Force at Diamond Ground in Islamabad, Pakistan International Airline declared their first innings on 394 for six in 75. 2 overs after being out into bat. On the second day of Pool ‘A’ match between Haideri Traders and Omer Associates at the State Bank Ground in Karachi on Monday, Omer Associates were bowled out for 276 in 70 overs after resuming their first innings at 81 for three. For Omer Associates, Yasir Mushtaq scored 117-ball 71 with eight fours. For Haideri Traders, Syed Ali Mustafa Naqvi took six wickets for 81. In their second innings, Haideri Traders scored 60 for the loss of two wickets at stumps.

On the second day of second match of Pool ‘A’ between Pakistan Navy and Civil Aviation Authority at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi, Civil Aviation Authority scored 303 for the loss of nine wickets in 83 overs.

The first round of the Patron’s Trophy Grade II tournament concluded at eight venues across the country on Tuesday.

Pool ‘C’ match between Pakistan International Airline and Pakistan Air Force ended in a draw at the Diamond Ground in Islamabad as PIA openers registered centuries in both innings of the match. PIA resumed their innings from the overnight score of 15 for no loss. Shehzar Muhammad followed his first innings score of 157 with an undefeated 142 off 209 balls with 11 fours and two sixes while Agha Sabir who had scored 104 runs in the first innings hit 22 fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 169 off 223 balls.

The duo added 319 runs for the opening wicket as PIA declared their second innings on 319 for no loss in 71 overs, giving Pakistan Air Force 263-run target.

In reply, Pakistan Air Force scored 15 for no loss in eight overs as the match ended in a draw.

Omer Associates beat Haideri Traders by 10 wickets in a Pool ‘A’ match at the State Bank Ground in Karachi.

Haideri Traders resumed their second innings from the overnight score of 60 for two, they were bowled out for 154 in 61.5 overs, giving Omer Associates an easy 37-run target. Mohammad Irfan was the pick of the bowlers with figures of five for 53. In their run-chase, Omer Associates achieved victory without losing a wicket.

In a Pool ‘A’ match, Civil Aviation Authority beat Pakistan Navy by nine wickets at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi.

On the final day, Pakistan Navy resumed their innings from the overnight score of 97 for six. Nasir Owais

scored a 64-ball 80 with 14 fours and two sixes while Wasim Ahmed hit eight fours in his 49 as Pakistan Navy were bowled out for 224 in 49.1 overs, giving Civil Aviation Authority a 132-run target. For Civil Aviation Authority Mirza Ahsan finished with six for 99.

Chasing a small 132-run target, Civil Aviation Authority achieved victory for the loss of one wicket in 34.1 overs. Mohammad Asim scored an unbeaten 70 off 107 balls with 11 fours. He added 112 runs for the unbroken second wicket stand with Mussadiq Ahmed, who scored 51 not out off 73 balls with the help of nine fours.

Play on the final day of the Higher Education Commission and Ghani Glass Pool ‘B’ match could not start due to overnight rain at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad. On the second day at stumps Higher Education Commission were 68 for one in 15 overs.

In Pool ‘B’ match between Port Qasim and Candyland ended in a draw at Rana Naveed Academy in Sheikhupura. Port Qasim declared their second innings at the overnight score of 193 for seven in 33 overs, giving Candyland 292-run target. In reply, Candyland scored an 89 for one in 24.1 overs. Ahmer Bin Nasir hit seven fours in his 42 not out off 61 balls.

Pool ‘C’ match between State Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan Army ended in a draw at the Army Cricket Ground in Rawalpindi. On the final day, State Bank of Pakistan resumed their second innings on 36 for no loss in eight overs and declared on 242 for six in 54 overs setting Pakistan Army a 278-run target. Mukhtar Ahmed scored an unbeaten 62 off 119 balls with eight fours. Munir Riaz was the pick of the Pakistan Army bowlers with four for 58.

In their run-chase Pakistan Army scored 197 for four in 39.5 overs. Qadir khan top-scored with 101 not out off 115 with 10 fours and a six.

Play on the last day of the Karachi Port Trust and Pakistan Railways Pool ‘D’ match could not start due to overnight rain at the Railway Stadium in Lahore. On the second day at stumps Pakistan Railways were 35 for no loss in eight overs.

The second round of Patron’s Trophy Grade-II 2018-19 will commence from Thursday, 18 April across eight different centers of the country.

The following is the schedule of second round matches:

18-20 April – Omar Associates v CAA, State Bank Ground, Karachi; Haideri Traders v Navy, NBP Stadium, Karachi (both Pool A); Candyland v Ghani Glass, R. The Patron’s Trophy Grade-II tournament, Round Two, started today at eight venues across the country on Thursday.

In Pool ‘A’ match between Civil Aviation Authority and Omer Associates at the State Bank Ground in Karachi, Civil Aviation Authority scored 262 for nine in 83 overs. Ashfaq Ahmed scored a century with seven fours and a six off 146 balls while Akbar Badshah scored a 102-ball 55 with 10 fours.

Muhammad Irfan, left-arm spinner, was the pick of the Omer Associates bowlers with figures of five for 100.

Omer Associates at stumps were 34 for two with Hasan Rizwan 14 not out and Fahdis Bukhari five not out.

In another Pool ‘A’ match between Haideri Traders and Pakistan Navy at the National Stadium in Karachi. Pakistan Navy, after being put into bat were bowled out for 336 in 80 overs. Hamza Ghanchi top-scored with 116 off 145 balls with 16 fours and a six while Latif Junejo hit six fours in his 45 off 81 balls. For Haideri Traders, Jallat Khan finished with six for 118 in 38 overs.

In Pool ‘A’ match Nasir Owais claimed 11 wickets as Pakistan Navy beat Haideri Traders by 10 wickets at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi on Friday. Pakistan Navy achieved the target of four runs in the first over. Haideri Traders resumed their innings at overnight score of 64 for three in 20 overs and were bowled out for 139 in 47.3 overs. For Pakistan Navy, off-spinner, Nasir Owais finished with six for 54 in the first innings as Pakistan Navy enforced the follow-on and Haideri Traders in the second innings were dismissed for 199 in 60 overs with Owais finishing with five for 94 in 22 overs. For Haideri Traders, Jallat Khan top-scored with 82 that came off 125 balls with six fours and two sixes.

The Patron’s Trophy Grade II tournament third day’s play was held today at seven venues across the country.



In Pool ‘A’ match between Civil Aviation Authority and Omer Associates at the State Bank Ground in Karachi on Saturday. Omer Associates won the match by seven wickets on the third and final day. In the second innings, Civil Aviation Authority were dismissed for 77 with Muhammad Irfan taking four wickets. In reply, Omer Associates chased down the target of 116 in 30 overs for the loss of three wickets. Fardous Bukhari scored an unbeaten 74-ball 42 with seven fours.



In a Pool ‘B’ match, Ghani Glass won the match against Candyland by 10 wickets on the third and final day. Candyland resumed their second innings at overnight score of 185 for nine and were dismissed for 216 in 56.2 overs. Ghani Glass, achieved victory in five overs for no loss.



On the third and final day of a Pool ‘B’ match between Higher Education Commission and Port Qasim at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, Port Qasim in their first innings were dismissed for 144 in 48.1 overs. For Higher Education Commission, Mamoon Riaz took six for 26. In reply, Higher Education Commission were 113 for the loss of three wickets as the match ended in a draw.



In Pool ‘C’ match between State Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan International Airlines at the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad ended in a draw. State Bank of Pakistan resumed their first innings overnight score of 99 for three in 32 overs and finished the first innings at 279 for eight in 83 overs. Syed Saad Ali top-scored with 83 off 116 balls with 11 fours while Rizwan Hussain fell four short of a fifty. In reply, Pakistan International Airlines in their second innings scored 51 for three in 24 overs.



Similarly, on third day’s play in the Pool ‘C’ match between Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force at the Army Cricket Ground in Rawalpindi, Pakistan Army resumed their first innings on 125 for five were dismissed for 237 in 74.3 overs. For Pakistan Army, Shoaib Khan scored 120-ball 54 with 10 fours. For Pakistan Air Force, Muhammad Ismail and Arish Ali Khan shared six wickets between them. Sabir’s Poultry beat Pakistan Railways by nine wickets in a Pool ‘D’ match at the Railway Stadium in Lahore. Pakistan Railways in their second innings were dismissed for 103, giving a 94-run target for Sabir’s Poultry. In their run-chase, Sabir’s Poultry achieved victory for the loss of one wicket in 16 overs. Imran Dogar scored run-a-ball 59 not out with nine fours.

The Patron’s Trophy Grade-II tournament, Round Three, started at eight venues across the country on Monday.

In Pool ‘A’ match between Civil Aviation Authority and Haideri Traders at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi, Civil Aviation Authority after winning the toss elected to bat first and were dismissed for 226 in 52.3 overs. Ashar Qureshi top-scored with a 86-ball 70 with 18 fours. For Haideri Traders, Jallat Khan took six wickets for 62. In turn, Haideri Traders were 122 for six at stumps. For Civil Aviation, Mirza Ahsan took all six wickets.

In another Pool ‘A’ match between Omer Associates and Pakistan Navy at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Omer Associates, after winning the toss, elected to bat first. They were bowled out for 194 in 69 overs. Fahadis Bukhari scored 165-ball 68 with nine fours. For Pakistan Navy, Fawad Khan took five for 68. In reply, Pakistan Navy were 64 for three in 25 overs at stumps.

In Pool ‘B’ match between Port Qasim and Ghani Glass at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, Ghani Glass elected to bat first and scored 399 for nine in 83 overs. In a Pool ‘A’ match between Civil Aviation Authority and Haideri Traders at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi, Haideri Traders resumed their innings at overnight score of 122 for six and were bowled out for 157 in 51.1 overs. For Civil Aviation, Mirza Ahsan took eight for 75.

In turn, Civil Aviation Authority declared their second innings on 280 for nine in 78 overs. For Civil Aviation Authority, Akbar Badshah scored an unbeaten 111 off 166 balls with 14 fours. For Haideri Traders, Jallat Khan took four for 110. In reply, Haideri Traders in their second innings were 42 for one at stumps.

The Patron’s Trophy Grade-II tournament, Round Three, third day’s play was held today at six venues across the country on Wednesday.

Civil Aviation Authority defeated Haideri Traders by 110 runs on the third day of a Pool ‘A’ match at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi. Haideri Traders resumed their second innings at overnight score of 42 for one and were bowled out for 239 in 71 overs. For Civil Aviation Authority, Usman Usmani took five for 82 and Mirza Ahsan took three wickets in the second innings and total 11 wickets in the match.

In another Pool ‘A’ match, Pakistan Navy beat Omer Associates by 10 wickets at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi. Omer Associates resumed their second innings at 92 for four and were dismissed for 190 in 61.3 overs. For Pakistan Navy, Fawad Khan was the pick of the bowlers with figures of five for 37, finishing with 10 wickets in the match.

In their run-chase, Omer Associates achieved victory without any loss in 32.3 overs.
A century by Khurram Manzoor on the third day helped Port Qasim beat Ghani Glass by three wickets at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad in a Pool ‘B match. In pursuit of a 284-run target, Port Qasim achieved victory for the loss of seven wickets in 65 overs. Khurram Manzoor scored a 178-ball 110 with 15 fours, while Atif Ali Zaidi hit seven fours in his 60.

Earlier, Ghani Glass resumed their innings at overnight score of 68 for one in 11 overs and were dismissed for 151 in 23.4 overs. For Port Qasim, Muddasir Riaz was the pick of the bowlers with figures of five for 42.

In a Pool ‘C’ match between Pakistan International Airlines and Pakistan Army at the Army Cricket Ground in Rawalpindi ended in a draw due to overnight rain.

Meanwhile Pakistan Railways and K-Electric match in Pool ‘D’ ended in a draw at the Railway Stadium in Lahore. K-Electric resumed their innings at overnight score of 130 for four and finished at 380 for seven in 100 overs. Hassan Khan scored a century off 132 balls with 14 fours while Bahadur Ali scored a 90-ball 87 with nine fours and three sixes. Muhammad Afzal was the other notable run-getter with 85. For Pakistan Railways, Abdul Rauf took four for 66.

Sabir’s Poultry defeated Karachi Port Trust by seven wickets in a Pool ‘D’ match at the LCCA Ground in Lahore. Patron’s Trophy Grade-II: CAA fined PKR100,000, Gohar Ali banned for two years



Lahore, 26 April 2019:

The Pakistan Cricket Board today fined Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) PKR100,000 for fielding an ineligible player Gohar Ali, who has been banned from participating in all PCB or city/district cricket association-organised events for two years.

The CAA had fielded Gohar Ali in their nine-wicket victory over Pakistan Navy in the Patron’s Trophy Grade-II opener at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi from 14-16 April.

Following the conclusion of the match, Pakistan Navy had lodged a protest, complaining breach of 2(a) of the PCB Playing Conditions and Rules for Domestic Tournaments, which reads as: “A player shall be bonafide employee of such department/service organization or, if contracted, must have minimum one-year contract or seasonal contract i.e. 1 October 2017 to 30 April 2018. Such player shall not be the employee of any other organization whether playing in domestic cricket or no.”

The decision against CAA and Gohar Ali was announced today following a detailed enquiry in which it was proven that the player had accepted a CAA contract despite being a full-time employee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police.

The PCB decision also means the nine points, which CAA had gained, have been awarded to Pakistan Navy, as per 5(b) of the PCB Playing Conditions and Rules for Domestic Tournaments, which reads as: “The team for which a player is in (a) above has played will be declared loser and full match points will be awarded to the opponent. The defaulter team will be allowed to play the remaining pool matches but would not be allowed to play in the next round/semi-final/final, even though it wins all remaining pool matches of the tournament.”

Sabir’s Poultry, after being put into bat were bowled out for 346 in 80.5 overs. Imran Nazir scored a century off 111 balls with 14 fours. He added 139 runs for the fifth wicket with Irfan Haider, who scored a 100-ball 65 with nine fours and a six. For Higher Education Commission, Bilal Anwar took three for 75 in his 22 overs. In reply, Higher Education Commission at stumps were 42 for one.

Meanwhile in the second semi-final between State Bank of Pakistan and Pakistan Navy at the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad, fast bowlers Muhammad Ilyas took five for 29 and Taj Wali bagged four for 12 as Pakistan Navy, after being sent into bat were dismissed for 52 in 15.3 overs. In turn, State Bank of Pakistan at stumps were 436 for four in 69 overs. For State Bank of Pakistan, Sahibzada Farhan top-scored with 157 that came off 137 ball and included 22 fours and a six. Farhan put on 152 run-stand for the second wicket with Muhammad Nawaz (62). Syed Saad Ali also contributed with a 77 not out of 73 balls with six fours and two sixes.

HEC joined State Bank in the final after their semi-final match against Sabir’s Poultry ended in a draw at the Pindi Stadium on Tuesday. HEC qualified for the final on the basis of their first innings lead.

On the third and final day, HEC ended their second innings at 112 for eight in 43.4 overs, Sabir’s Poultry had set HEC a 201-run target after they were bowled out for 206 in 43. 4 overs in their second innings. For HEC, Mamoon Riaz took five wickets in Sabir Poultry’s second innings.

Hammad Butt scored 51 for HEC in their second innings while Ghulam Rehman took four for 17 for Sabir’s Poultry.

State Bank and Higher Education Commission to feature in four-day Patron’s Trophy Grade-II final

• Both captains eyeing the tournament trophy, four day final starts at the Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi from Thursday.

The four-day final of the Patron’s Trophy Grade II tournament will commence at the Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi from Thursday, 2 May. State Bank of Pakistan and Higher Education Commission sealed their places in the final after two contrasting semi-finals.

The star-studded State Bank outfit outplayed Pakistan Navy with-in two days to sail through the final, HEC on the other hand had to fight till the very last moments of the third day to overcome Sabir’s Poultry in the other semi-final.

Sabir’s Poultry had set HEC a 201-run target in the final two sessions of the match, their bowlers then reduced HEC to 112 for eight before the match was declared a draw as the Sabir’s Poultry bowlers ran out of time to dismiss the opposition and claim an outright win. HEC qualified for the final on the basis of their six-run first innings lead.

HEC captain Asfand Mehran is looking forward to a competitive final against State Bank. He hopes that his team will continue the good work in the big game.

“The Almighty has blessed us with a place in the final. This has been a total team effort from HEC, I don’t want to single out anyone in particular as everyone including the management, the reserve players and the eleven that has featured in the games leading up to the final have put in a big effort.

We hope to continue the same way against a formidable opponent in the final. State Bank will be a challenge for us but I have full confidence in my players, “Asfand said.

State Bank is being captained by Pakistan ODI batsman Saad Ali who made his international debut in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia in the UAE. Saad praised his team’s combined effort and is hopeful of a similar show in the final.

“We have performed well, I am happy with my own performance, the likes of Mohammad Nawaz, Usman Salahuddin have done very well with the bat. Among the bowlers Mohammad Ilyas, Taj Wali and Basit have shown great commitment and skill. Nawaz has chipped in as an all-rounder for us.

“We are one match away from winning the title and are focused on the game. I also want to thank our management for their unflinching support throughout the season.” Saad said.

Saad has contributed 349 runs in five innings so far with the help of one century. The tournament’s batting charts are topped by Sabir’s Poultry batsman Mohammad Imran who amassed 450 runs at 64.29 in eight innings with the help of one century.

PIA’s Shehzar Mohammad is at the second spot, in five innings, the opening batsman scored 365 runs with the help of two centuries, his tournament average stands at 91.25. HEC top scorer is right-handed batsman Fahad Usman. In seven innings before the final, Fahad scored 343 runs at 57.17, including two centuries.

Sabir’s Poultry fast bowler Nisar Ahmad is on the top of the bowling charts, the right-armer claimed 28 wickets in four matches at 16.04. Civil Aviation Authority’s Ahsan Jamil collected 25 wickets in three games at 14.84.

Mohammad Ilyas has taken 20 wickets in four games for State Bank while HEC’s best bowler is Mamoon Riaz with a tally of 17 wickets in four games.

State Bank dominate opening day of Patron’s Trophy Grade II final

Lahore, 2 May 2019:

State Bank of Pakistan took charge of the Patron’s Trophy Grade II 2018-19 final on the very first day by amassing a first innings total 0f 392 for six in their allotted 83 overs against Higher Education Commission at the Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi on Thursday.

State Bank captain Saad Ali and Naved Yaseen scored centuries to help their team to their commanding total. Saad’s 105 came off 146 balls and included 10 fours and one six.

Naved remained unbeaten on 118, his 96-ball innings included 11 fours and six sixes. Sahibzada Farhan scored 90 off 95 balls with the help of 13 fours and one six. Mamoon Riaz with two wickets for 81 runs was the most successful HEC bowler.

At stumps on the first-day of the four-day final, HEC had reached 26 for no loss in five overs.

State Bank gain big first innings lead over HEC in Patron’s Trophy Grade II final

Lahore, 3 May 2019:

State Bank of Pakistan gained a potentially decisive 109-run first innings lead over Higher Education Commission on the second day of the four-day Patron’s Trophy Grade II 2018-19 final at the Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi on Friday.

State Bank bowlers restricted HEC to 283 for 8 in the first innings allocation of 83 overs. On day two, HEC had resumed their first innings on the overnight score of 26 for no loss. Mohammad Faiq and Hamza Akbar hit half centuries for HEC but it was the combined bowling effort of State Bank’s Mohammad Ilyas (two for 72) and Israrullah (two for 26) that pegged them back.

Faiq hit eight fours and a six in his 141-ball 82 while Hamza scored an unbeaten 56 off 61 balls with six fours.

State Bank reached 34 for the loss of one wicket in their second innings at close of play, taking their overall lead to 143 runs with two days play left in the game. On day one State Bank had scored 392 for the loss of eight wickets in their first innings allocation of 83 overs.

Saad Ali’s hits centuries in each innings as State Bank take total control of Patron’s Trophy Grade II final

Lahore, 4 May 2019:

State Bank captain Saad Ali led from the front adding a second century in the match to give his side a firm grip on the third day of the Patron’s Trophy Grade II 2018-19 final at the Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi against HEC on Saturday.

State Bank resumed their second innings at 34 from one (lead of 143 runs) on day three of the four-day final. Saad who scored 105 in the first innings made an unbeaten 153 off 190 balls with the help of 21 fours to take his side to a near impregnable position.

Umer Waheed scored 115 runs off 241 balls with the help of 12 fours while Naved Yasin who had scored an unbeaten century in the first innings made 51 of 93 balls.

HEC captain Asfand Mehran’s two wicket haul for 82 runs was the best bowling performance of the day from his side.

By close of play, State Bank had reached 385 for the loss of five wickets in 103 overs. State Bank had managed a 109-run first innings lead, after their run feast in the second innings, their lead currently stands at 494 runs.

Sunday is the fourth and final day of the match. A draw will be enough to give State Bank the title on the basis of their first innings lead.

State Bank win Patron’s Trophy Grade II tournament

Lahore, 5 May 2019:

State Bank won the final of the Patron’s Trophy Grade II 2018-19 at the Pindi Stadium, Rawalpindi on Sunday by a massive 499-run margin as Higher Education Commission were bowled out for 103 runs in their second innings on the fourth and final day of the match.

State Bank resumed their second innings at 385 for the loss of five wickets on day four. State Bank were bowled out for 493 runs, setting HEC an improbable 603-run target.

On day four, State Bank’s captain Saad Ali completed his double-century, he was eventually dismissed for 220 off 278 balls, his innings included 29 fours. Kamran Afzal and Asfand Mehran took four wickets each for HEC, conceding 105 and 136 runs respectively.

HEC were then dismissed for 103 runs in their second innings in a mere 20.1 overs. Mohammad Ilyas took four wickets for 72 runs while Basit Ali took three and Israrullah took two wickets. Hamza Akbar with a 29-ball 37 was the highest run scorer for HEC. Asfand Mehran scored 21 runs.

State Bank collected the winner’s trophy and Rs 500,000 while HEC were given Rs 250,000. Saad was declared the player of the match, the left-handed middle-order batsman also received the best batsman of the tournament’s award for his 674-run tournament tally.

Sabir’s Poultry bowler Nisar Ahmed who claimed 28 wickets in the tournament was declared the best bowler while HEC’s Hamza who made 18 dismissals (16 catches and two stumpings) was declared the wicketkeeper of the tournament.
