Some of the strangest Insurance Policies ever taken out - including those are still available.
* Spooksafe Insurance Policy (Ghosts, Poltergeists, Abnormal Phenomena) provided by specialist insurer Ultraviolet.
One one occasion, it even paid out on the policy!
* UFO Insurance. Insurance against being abducted by Aliens. Tens of thousands of people have taken out such policies, including, allegedly, by Shirley MacLaine
* Sports Fan Insurance
An insurance policy in case you suffered "severe trauma" due to your team being knocked out early in a major tournament. An England fan took one out just before the 2006 World Cup. It wasn't paid out because England reached the quarter finals.
(Pakistani cricket fans have tried taking out these policies every time Pakistan tour Australia - but the policy premiums have been way over the top - greater than the payout itself!)
* Policy Against ending up in Hell. Insurance Policy that prevented you from ending up in Hell, or reduced the severity of punishment in case you ended up in Hell, depending upon the premium you paid.
In the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church offered one called "Letters of Indulgence". These letters of indulgence could only be granted by the Pope, cardinals, bishops or legates after having repented and confessed their sins.
There are many more strange and weird policies that one can take out. Go ahead and list some. They must be genuine insurance policies, either current or from the past.

So far, Ultraviolet has already shelled out EUR100,000 on this policy to a woman who died from being thrown over banisters in her home in the United States. Underwriters concluded that a ghost was involved in the killing
