I seriously dont get the hype behind this movie. People keep telling me it has some "star studded" cast. I dont see a single great actor in this movie. Will Smith is a decent actor but hes overrated just like Johnny Depp and hasnt been in a single great film. What star studded cast? Jai Courtney? Are you kidding me? Hes an embarrassment. "The Departed" has a star studded cast. "Saving Private Ryan" has a star studded cast. This has a rubbish cast.

The new joker seems average. This guy doesnt seem good enough to clean Heath Ledger's boots. People are already making excuses and saying hes a different kind of joker. I dont buy it. Though Leto is an excellent actor (Requiem For a Dream), even in the trailer when he says "Im going to hurt you really bad" it seems like a much inferior version of what Jack says to his wife near the end of The Shining. In fact it is an exact copy but worse.

This is just going to be one of those Marvel type popcorn flicks that you're not going to remember a week after. Didnt think anything in the trailers was great and usually these kind of movies have some of their best scenes in the trailers.

People are hyping this up as if this will be some Godfather or Dark Knight level movie. It wont even be 1/10th of them. Hopefully this movie will teach people not to hype up anything with superheroes and some cliched punch lines and action sequences.

The standards people have of what a good movie is are going down rapidly and this is very worrying. I appreciate that everyone has different tastes but people claiming that this will be "the best movie of the 21st century" (I saw a comment which got about a thousand likes on Facebook saying this) when it really wont even be in the top 100 is just wrong.

Im not going to go into this movie with many expectations and Im going to watch it with an open mind and if it really is a good movie then I will gladly bump this thread myself. Dont start bashing this post one day after the movie comes out when crazy fans on IMDB will all start giving this a 10. Lets wait for a month and see what legacy this movie leaves behind and if it can even be mentioned in the same sentence as The Dark Knight.
 
Anyone who speaks out against this movie usually gets bashed by people telling him he or she hasnt read comic books so cant appreciate this. First of all Ive read many comics. And secondly even if I hadnt why should that be related to how good or bad this movie is?
 
I feel the same way, and I've seen a lot of people agree.
 
So you're judging a movie based on a trailer? You sound no different to me than those plastic fans who never read a single comic in their life and now pretend to be biggest DC fans just because it's fashionable and cool to like Batman these days.
To me the joker looks absolutely brilliant.Much like the one we saw in batman: the animated series.Of course He can't be compared to the Ledger one.Both portrayed different personalities of the same guy which makes it even more cooler.Personally can't wait to watch it.
 
I too think ppl will be disappointed, just like batman vs superman was a failure this movie will make money but will have a weak story line.
Will go watch tomorrow my man Matt Damon's movie.
 
Don't like a movie, don't watch. Simple as. Get over the sense of entitlement that studios owe your entertainment.

More than Joker I'm looking forward to Harley Quinn.Loved her in the original cartoon series.
 
It will be an okay movie that would be a fun watch - kinda like Deadpool.

Star casts do not add to much in super hero movies as no one watches them for the acting neither they give enough depth or time to each character to show their acting repertoire. For that, the stand-alone movies are the answer. Marvel have Iron Man, Thor, Captain America to go with avengers.

If you want to watch acting, watch movies that revolve around crime syndicates, political tussles, racial tensions, and what not. If you want to have cheap thrills, wish to see loads of cliches, cars burning, and monsters gutting it out - watch super hero movies.

p.s. most of the people don't want to see the joker, they want to see Harley Quinn because Margot Robbie slays.
 
Lol Will Smith is not over rated. And yes it is a very decent cast. As for the movie being good or being a flop, I can not say from a trailer. I think you are jumping the gun and should save your judgment.

Why is he not overrated? I don't just judge actors based on acting skills but also on how many good movies they've been in. This is also why Johnny Depp is overrated. Name one great Will Smith movie. And don't give me that Oscar bait stuff he loves to be in

Umm...he has been in plenty of good movies which have done very well. I do not know what is your judgment of greatness. - Pursuit of happiness, I am Legend, Seven Pounds are all very good movies. He has other movies which have not been that great but entertaining none the less. But his acting skill is very good and that is something we both can agree to disagree on.

None of those movies are great at all.
 
While best movie of the decade or millennium is a hyperbole, it is incorrect to judge a movie without watching it. Judging a movie on it's trailer is wrong because a trailer can be misleading.

And spare me the standards are going down crap. Every decade has it's dreck whose stench is masked by the sweet smell of nostalgia.

What you are criticizing about the joker was done before during Heath's joker too. People were like why cast a pretty boy. How will he beat Nicholson or Hamill?

The amount of great movies that have come out between 2010 and now is very few.

And they said BvS will be epic..what a load of rubbish it turned out to be. I hope this is good for DC's sake.

Judging by the Justice League trailer, they ste going for a lighter tone.

Will Smith is just Will Smith in his movies- tries too hard to be funny. Cringeworthy at times. His best movie for me is Enemy Of The State.
 
Superhero movies are awful, barring batman. X men, superman, iron man, avengers you name it. Only teenage pre puberty kids like these movies, can't stand them. Same story over again, an evil villain fights a hero with a superpower who also has a love interest.

if he did not care, he would simply not say anything. There is a million films out there I think are pathetic, but you dont see me creating separate threads for them all here.

No mate. I couldve made this thread about one of the other thousand superhero/action/comedy movies that people hype up for no reason but this has the most hype and is the next one releasing so it seemed logical. Its not just about this movie.

Cannot judge a movie after just a few years. You have to let some time pass.

I didn't like the Thing when i saw it first. Then i saw it again and i think it's one of the greatest horror films ever made.

The movie is being slated. It is worse than BvS apparently. DC/WB are in big trouble. I don't have any hope for Justice League movie either. They might aswell start rebooting.

That's not going to happen, they earn a lot of cash from China and India. Same for Fast & Furious, Transformers, James Bond etc... People love franchises, especially in the new markets.

None of those movies are great. I know about movies more than most people. Blow is a very good movie and the rest are good. The purge is trash and conjuring is just good. Both those actors are overrated and dont even hold a candle to Dicaprio or Bale when it comes to modern actors because those 2 have been in some great movies. I guess you havent really seen enough great movies or if those movies are great according to you then I dont know what to say.

These movies doing well means these kind of movies are made more and more. Its like saying Test cricket fans should stop watching T20 cricket but the reason they are complaining is because it is adversely affecting Test cricket. These days because of rubbish like this movie I have to wait for Tarantino, Scorsese, Spielberg or Nolan to release films to truly have an amazing experience and that often takes years. Yes you have the odd great movie but there just arent enough these days because people are more interested in this filth.

Well you can't do anything about movies doing well.. You are only coming off across as someone who is whining, no offence meant at all..

In India Salman Khan movies gross more than 500 crores do I hate that? Yes I do but I don't crib about it.. If majority of the public wants to see that let them not everyone's taste in movies can be the same as mine.. There are a lot of small budget good movies which are being made you can always watch them as well as good regional French/german/European movies... Can find online reviews for them..

Also these days Hyping up everything on social media is such a trend.. I mean look at Pokémon go it got hyped up so much and everyone downloaded it to play, same with BvS was hyped so much and turned out to be a dud.. a great movie is a subjective opinion...while I agree they're not the best movies of their time they were pretty damn good and are better than the work of many other actors. DiCaprio and Bale are in a different league, but Bale has done some shitty movies too, so has Leo (albeit a while ago). My usual indicator of a good movie is rotten tomatoes and if their reviews are crap than the movie ain't worth watching. anyways, don't have too much time these days for movies but one movie that I consider great would be Munich

Re watched Munich recently so bloody good! Underrated gem. Shows spielbergs versatility

I'm a grandfather and I like them. Saw Ant-Man the other night. It was fun.
 
just found out the director is the same guy who made Street Kings which is a good watch
 
I haven't really seen much hype for this movie personally, it was unreal for Man of Steel and that was by far the worst super-hero movie I have ever seen given that it couldn't do the expectations justice. Also, after BvS you'd think the hype would be low for another DC flick given how the critics absolutely slaughtered that even though I didn't think it was as bad as they made out I thought it was better then MOS. Anyway best to judge the movie after watching it.

Every good movie is a disaster on RT and every crap movie a success. So not many people take their ratings seriously.

I'd wait for 2-3 weeks and then check the IMDB ones.
 
Forget rotten tomatoe. Don't look at it myself. What about the rubbish reviews on meta critic. What about reviews from critics I trust giving it a below 5 score and writing all sorts of bad things about it. What about people who have seen early screenings saying its rubbish
 
Chris Stuckman is my most trusted movie reviewer in the world. The most unbiased by far. And he said the 2nd and 3rd acts were rubbish and he gave it a C. The movie is and was always going to be garbage. We should accept it.

How about you watching the movie first and then decide whether its worth the hype or not but oh wait you already made up your mind so its no point arguing with you.
 
Suicide squad is going to be so great that it will make people's head spin.
 
A movies is nothing but entertainment if it is entertaining it is good enough. About critics it is now time for DC/WB to pay them up a little and all will go happy for them.

To be fair to him, DC have a pretty awful track record as of late even though their movies have been okay for a fan of their comics like myself but from a neutrals perspective I can understand their pessimism. MOS was god awful and B v S was acceptable, they've haven't quiet figured out the correct formula like Marvel have with their movies.

I expect affleck's take on Batman to be good though, don't have high hopes for the Justice League. Don't have high hopes for suicide squad either but given my low expectations I will find it okay n the end even if it isn't spectacular or lives up to its potential. The super-hero genre has evolved but it's also a golden opportunity to provide a compelling narrative unlike the average action flick these days.

I usually trust meta-critic and empire get it right more often then not. But there are reviews which are overly negative (rotten) or overly positive (imbd) though has to be said. In the end the rating of the movie is somewhere in between if it is judged objectively.
 
There hasn't been a single good DC movie since dark knight rises and I don't think there will be one anytime soon
 
I trusted Roger Ebert on nearly everything except for horror. Even if i didn't agree with him, he articulated his opinion very well.

I do read James Berardinelli of reelviews since he writes well but tends to get too purple prosed for his own good.

DTA - don't trust anyone especially not when watching a movie.

Chris stuckman is good too. Roger ebert was great but he had some real shockers like The Usual Suspects

which is also full of flaws and issues..it is mater if taste. I have not seen suicide squad, but I liked batman in dawn of justice and I think they are doing good with him in justice league. I will wait for solo Batman movie with Affleck and I think it will be good.

Most sites are giving bad reviews, not only RT. Sorry ifI am being harsh on you but on other forum people were saying same thing when BVs was released that RT is marvel fan boy, go watch the movie and after watching when reviews were bad , I felt cheated and was completely ****** off , not going to do this mistake again.

Well only Batman was good and I agree with you on this point, but making good movies should be priorities, Civil war also has flaws but still it was good.

matter of taste I didn't like any avenger movies apart from first one also iron man and Thor after first movies are poor on the flip side captain America movie before civil war was really good.

Nolan, Spielberg, Kubrick et al have been my favourite directors ever since I heard from my friends that they are the best.

Well everybody has different taste but still I can't believe you liked GL ,MOS, BVS better than marvel . Even at the worst IM 2 or Thor 2 is better than GL.
 
Lol fans are signing a petition to shut down rotten tomatoes because this mediocre film got bad reviews. Petulant little idiots should realize that firstly Rotten Tomatoes only aggregates scores from other critics and secondly, the movie that you have been hyping up to the moon is going to be crap like all DC movies since The Dark Knight Rises
 
It's not as bad as reviews suggest, atleast better than bvs
