Sussex won the toss and elected to field.
Pakistan will resume their 2nd innings at 71/1 with Shan Masood unbeaten on 38 and Azhar Ali accompanying him on 9. Mohammad Hafeez earlier got out cheaply for the 4th time in a row in the tour matches. The lead stands at 143.
Earlier on Day 2, Pakistan had to endure a torrid few hours with the ball. They were unable to get much swing with the new ball and failed to keep the runs down as well, meaning that Sussex raced away. The first fifty came up at around 6 runs an over. After that, the Pakistan bowlers pulled it back somewhat but were unable to get the elusive breakthrough until well into the 2nd session, at which point Sussex had already scored 212 runs. Then, Wahab Riaz dismissed the openers in quick succession, despite Harry Finch's hundred. Imran Khan also got a couple of wickets off consecutive deliveries, meaning Sussex lost 4 for 21. When Zulfiqar Babar later got the 5th wicket to fall, Sussex bravely declared at 291/5.
On the first day, Pakistan were put in to bat, with Mohammad Hafeez once again failing to spend a reasonable amount of time in the middle. Shan Masood also lost his wicket early. Both were out to impressive debutante Jofra Archer. After that, Azhar Ali and Younis Khan proceeded to put on a hundred run partnership, before Younis Khan fell to spinner Danny Briggs for 59 while trying to loft him over the boundary. In came Misbah-ul-Haq, and began sedately as usual; however, the ball soon got old and the spinners came on. Misbah and Azhar cashed in, scoring at a fast pace and taking the score in excess of 300 before the 2nd new ball. Archer once again impressed thereafter, getting both Azhar (145) and Misbah (68) out, finishing the day with excellent figures of 4-49. Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed saw out the rest of the day as Pakistan piled up a healthy 363/5 before stumps.
