What's new

Talent Spotter : Haris Rauf

Why isnt he playing FC? It is ludicrous that when we are struggling with 83mph bowlers, he can't get a game in QA trophy.

STEP 1: Become a Pakistani player named Harris
Step 2: Automatically get all PP’ers support

I hope this guy proves it in the PSL. History has shown pace and control is a deadly combo. He can be the Pakistani Starc

We need to blood this youngster in the pakistan team asap. Guys got raw pace and reminds me of another great bowler Bumrah with his short run up and deadly accurate yorkers. Exactly what the current pakistan team needs. Someone to nail them yorkers at the end with pace this guys the answer I think if moulded rightly can be a huge asset to our team.

Harris Rauf brilliant bowling with express pace

After watching so many trundlers
It's so heartening to see finally it seems we got another express pace bowler who can clock consistently 145kph to 150kph

I know pace is a bit overrated both sami and wahab riaz were genuinely quick still they were useless but still u can't deny that watching raw pace is always exciting

Let's not overhype this kid and let's hope for the best. Time will tell us whether he will
turnout shoaib Akhtar for us or M sami for us

I might sound baised but this kid reminds me of young shoaib Akhtar
https://youtu.be/IlLv7uBZbp4

He got the ability to bowl a beautiful yorker
And can generate good and wayward bounce. He should be consider for South Africa tour or odi world Cup 2019

It's also interesting to notice that all fast bowlers with express pace had two things in common
Either they have a slingy action with huge arm back lift e.g shoaib Akhtar, Jeff Thomson and shaun tait
Or they had a huge jump in their run up with enable them to generate maximum pace

This boy doesn't rely on either of these two things and that makes him special. I firmly believe that with proper coaching and training with a lil bit of modifications in his bowling action
He can hit upto 155kph

I would also really want to appreciate the fact Lahore qalandar is doing an excellent job in unearthing new fresh talent
Shaheen Afridi
Salman irshad
Yasir jaan
N now this pindi boy Harris Rauf
Mind it pindi is land of pacers for Pakistan. Aamir, shoaib Akhtar, M Akram, Yasir arafat, sohail tanveer all were from pindi

Any updates on this guy?

Yasir Jan is not a talent. Just not good enough for this level. Pretty sure he was smashed in levels below first class. Just a hype machine by Lahore.

Haris Rauff - Fast bowler

I was just going through Youtube and found Haris Rauff bowling 145+ representing LQ. Action doesn't look that clean though. How good is he?

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 181.818%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/s/76cw9/muxbnn" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>.

What useless training .... kill your shoulders with the battle rope or puny kettlebell snatch and press with bad form. Any wonder why bowlers these days are made of glass.

Do you think Olympic javelin throwers train like this?

If he plays in PSL than I hope he will touch 150 kph. InshaAllah.

Musa & Naseem would be touching 145 aswell.

Pakistan is desperate to unleash one " Fast Bowler " at Int Level.

Wahan has hired personal trainer to get in shape for PSL and push for a place in WC2019 squad. I think he will again be crossing 150 kph in PSL provided he gets rid of that latest belly seen in National T20.

Haris Rauf is supplementary player. I don’t think he will get a chance to play. But main issue is why no first class team is picking him?? Atleast for t20 tournament he should have been picked. His talent I should being wasted.

Supplementary players can play whenever the team wants. It's entirely up to LQ if they want to play him at any stage of the tournament.

Bowled some beautiful yorkers in that UAE tournament.

Needs to debut this year in the PSL otherwise it might be too late.

I agree with you but he is contracted with LQ since last 2 years and He along with Salman Irshad are playing Grade 1 Cricket in Australia. I think there development in Australia will be going better.

I want to see Summers play for Khi and Haris for Lhr. Both will touch 150 kph if injury free. Would be exciting.

Eagerly waiting to see Aaron Summers in action..

Though Haris is picked up in Supplementary but he will play in Emerging cat from day one. Players from the talent hunt programs could be picked in Supply cat only and could play in emerging even if they are more than 23 years.

Amongst Right Arm pacers Haris Rauf or Musa Khan might touch 150 kph in PSL. (If they stay fit)

Except both of them to bowl faster than Hasan & Sami.

Both him and Musa Khan need a very very good PSL to come in intention for the WC squad.

May be they will bring the much needed spark in the bowling attack.

Add Naseem Shah to that list as well provided

1. He has modified his action (correctly)

2. Is used to his new action

3. Is 100 % fit.

Naseem has got those fast bowling germs as we say in our terms but if he continues with the old action than another stress fracture of back that too career ending is along the corner.

150+ would be an OTT expectation. If both of them can keep it between 140 and 145kph and occasionally bowl 146, 147 kph, that would be great. Coz most of the times these 150+ kph bowlers turn out to be 130 kphs.

Hopefully these youngsters get enough chances to prove themselves.

Can Haris Rauf do a Bumrah here for Pakistan.

Knowing by our posters many will just laugh at it but I think this guy has potential.Bumrah was ordinary when brought to MI squad in IPL but proving to be the trump card for India now.I feel Haris Rauf can be the one for us but PCB has a role here.

Oh FGS. Bumrah is one of the best bowlers in the world whereas Haris Rauf hasn't even played a single game for Pakistan yet.

I am not saying Haris will become a World beater in an year ,Bumrah took good 5 years after IPL debut to reach here.

I agree he has potential but the issue is that he has not played any domestic cricket in Pakistan. Don't know how many matches he played in Australia.

yes but here Bumrah oalyed his FC match before IPL debut, las ahould ahve played last FC season but i think he was busy in grade 1 cricket in Aus.

Haris Rauf was given the target to clock 156 kph in PSL for which he claims he trained himself in Australia accordingly.

Target given by : Aqib Javed

I expect him to clock 150 kph if he stays fit during PSL.

Sure its nice if he can clock 150 but the important thing is if he can bowl 140+ consistently.

Not 155 or 157?

Strange that a bowler has been given a speed target.

Achieving a magical number of 150kph should NOT be the goal... using your head and extracting some swing or seam movement at good pace (140-145) should be the key.

Even Wahab can still bowl 150+ but it goes even faster to the boundary.

I think it's because he clocked 156 in a match in the uae or something.
So aqib wanted him to do it in front of a bigger audience

Lol! Expect only Aqib Javed to come up with such 'targets'

His first over in the PSL:

138kph
138kph
138kph
137kph
140kph
145kph

Second over

143kph
139kph
142kph
129kph
142kph
137kph

Hafeez dis not give him another over,I think coild have gone with him when they were 34 down.

Looked very impressive in his first spell. The guy got potential just need to see if he seams/swings the ball.

With only pace he will become another Wahab Riaz over time.

I am not sure why Haris Rauf and Salman Irshad didnt play QAE last season. That surely would have helped with their development.

Haris is surely pacy and must be nervous in his first match.

Not what i expected .he is no way near express .if he is bowling with average speed of138 kph in t20s he will slide further in odis

Will give benefit of doubt for first match but definitely not as pacy as was hyped up to be and far from a finished product.

It was his first game. It wouldn’t be wise to expect a bowler to go at full throttle. Should give him a couple of games to settle and you’ll see that he can bowl a lot quicker than he did.

Still back him to deliver 150 kph delivery in this PSL and it would possibly be a yorker.

If Shoaib is with LQ he should guide Hafeez wrt Handling Haris Rauf.

Hope Haris Rauf stays fit.

Haris has previously impressed Mahela Jayawardene with his pace. Hayden also liked his pace yesterday.

One thing is for sure than he hasn't gained any pace after Dubai Cup where he clocked 148 kph. His needs to stay perpendicular while delivering the ball. Currently falls away to his left. Slight technical adjustment would result in him getting a yard quicker. Body isn't completely behind the ball atm and loses some bounce aswell.

But exciting.

9.1 Haris Rauf to Hussain Talat, no run, short and just outside off. Angling away. Swishes at this and is beaten. 138kph says the gun. Hayden on commentary reckons that was much faster.

Today almost all his non-slower deliveries were above 140 kph with top speed of 148.

He bowls with what I call a confused seam. It looks like it's going to go out but the momentum of the ball is in towards the right handers. He could be lethal with a ball that may reverse.

!48kph my boy.

He's the real find so far. LQ keep on finding good talents. Shaheen, Sohail Akhtar and now this guy,

AB might have just set this boy’s career off to a start by trusting him with this over! Refreshing to see such pace by a Pakistani bowler

Mods, can we change the title of this thread to “Haris Rauf - PSL 2019 watch thread?”

Anyways,

Pace, aggression, passion and determination. Chose the number 150 for one reason... His aim is to hit the 150kph mark.

Dropped a catch but delivered when it mattered.

Not watching the game but did I read that correct, a Pakistani pace bowler in the year 2019 getting a ball clocking at 148kph and his first name isn’t Wahab and surname isn’t Riaz?

4 wickets, unreal stamina to generate such good pace.

Should be fast tracked into the national team unless he totally flops from now on.

So a talent hunt unearths a 150 kph bowler but we cannot find a single one in domestic cricket.

Late movement coupled with genuine pace makes a deadly combination.

Would like to see him in our T20I side and then in the longer formats after a full season of domestic cricket.

Pace= check, stamina = check (for T20s now ), accuracy = check, Yorker = double check, Brains = check, This guy is ready for shorter format for national team.

Good thing Wasim Khan realised that. His priority is to improve the domestic cricket. Hopefully PSL’s model of having these hunt programmes will push Wasim to implement various methods that apply to domestic cricket only.

5 balls that the speed gun registered in Haris Rauf's 4th over

148kph
139kph
146kph
144kph
144kph

To bowl at that pace in his 4th over... 8-9 mins after his 3rd over shows the level of his stamina and fitness. Compound excercises and training abroad clearly benefited him.

I think his stint in Australia has immensely helped him. Previously he was not hitting this much pace.
