The political situation in Bangladesh has turned tense once again after hundreds of protestors attempted to march towards the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Wednesday. Police stopped the demonstrators near Rampura Bridge, citing security concerns in the diplomatic zone.

The protest, organised under the banner of ‘July Unity’, featured strong anti-India slogans and demands for the extradition of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who is currently in India. Demonstrators alleged that India-backed political parties and sections of the media were conspiring against Bangladesh and interfering in its internal affairs.

A few hours before the protest, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) summoned Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to India, Riaz Hamidullah, to express serious concern over the security of India’s diplomatic mission in Dhaka. The MEA stressed that Bangladesh’s interim government is responsible for ensuring the safety of foreign missions in line with international norms. Owing to security concerns, the Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) in Dhaka was also temporarily shut.

Bangladesh is scheduled to hold parliamentary elections on February 12. India has said it expects the polls to be conducted in a free and fair manner. Responding to this, Bangladesh’s interim government adviser on foreign affairs, M Touhid Hossain, said Dhaka does not require advice from neighbouring countries on how to conduct elections, and accused India of remaining silent during alleged irregularities in past polls.

Tensions have further escalated following the killing of Sharif Usman Hadi, a prominent figure in recent anti-government protests, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants. His death triggered widespread outrage among protestors.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Hasina’s son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, has expressed concern over the current situation, alleging that the interim government is empowering hardline Islamist groups and that growing Bangladesh-Pakistan ties pose security risks for India.

you need to pick up your India and shove it where the sun don't shine then. stop being a sissy if you can't handle security in your country give india to pakistan bangldesh china and sri lanka we will manage it fine.

A balkanized or dissolved India can increase peace and stability in subcontinent.

They are responsible for 90% of the problems in the region. :inti

Bangladesh should kick out all Indians from the country. Ban Indian tourists too. Call back ambassador and kick out Indian ambassador.

India do not have the best interest in mind when it comes to Bangladesh. Bangladesh should suspend all imports and exports with India.

:inti :inti
I’m glad Bangladesh is no longer acting as a puppet of India and is now asserting its own national interests. An independent foreign policy is important for any country, and it’s good to see Bangladesh moving away from excessive external influence.

India’s "being the big brother" dream has effectively collapsed. Its regional influence has shrunk to the point where Afghanistan is its only remaining ally, and even Western countries are growing more critical and distant.

Free and fair election is USP for any functioning democracy. I wonder why present regime in BD scared of conducting one. Are they scared of Sheikh Haseena will win by a landslide margin like in last election?

Indian army and MEA must ensure the upcoming election in BD is fair. Afterall, we have given them independence and birth of present BD. So we can take the liberty to poke our nose in their affairs and if required a bit of an aggression to knock some sense on them.

What are you smoking? Lol. Does anyone seriously visit Bangladesh for tourism? Illegal Bangla and Rohingya migration is a real issue, and you will find them across the border can be found in many Indian cities and towns, with many working in municipal sanitation jobs.

Please take them to Canada :D

I'm not sure how Bangladesh is the problem in this situation.

You are holding fugitive leader from your neighbouring country, and you have the gall to be affronted when they turn against you?

Inside of big brother they have became wicked step sister across the region.

On Monday, Hasnat Abdullah, a prominent leader of Bangladesh’s National Citizen Party, issued a provocative warning that Dhaka could once again provide shelter to forces hostile to India, including separatist outfits, with the explicit aim of cutting off the country’s northeastern region from the mainland.

its none of India's business

these 2 things will remain a dream for India

1. sheikh Hasina becoming pm of Bangladesh
2. Imran khan being PM of Pakistan

people of Bangladesh and Pakistan won't allow any puppet governments of India in power

This is cherry picking. He mentioned this as a response to whether India continues to try to destabilise Bangladesh.

She is the rightful PM elected by massive mandate from people in last election. She was thrown out as a coup illegally. All India asking for is for a fair and square election. If BD regime's concern is people will vote for her again enmasse, that is their problem. They need to win over their own people with honesty, hard work and dedication. India will just ensure the upcoming elections in BD are fair and square. It is the democratic right of people of BD.

India’s "being the big brother" dream has effectively collapsed. Its regional influence has shrunk to the point where Afghanistan is its only remaining ally, and even Western countries are growing more critical and distant.

Yup.

Ever since sanghis hijacked India, India have lost influence regionally and globally. India also lost 3 wars since then (2 against Pakistan and 1 against China).

This is why an incompetent chaiwala should never run a country. He belongs in the chai stall. :inti

Bangladesh threats should not be taken seriously, the country is completely surrounded by India. Situation there has deteriorated, economy is dead and the future looks bleak under Islamists hands.

And guess who is suddenly celebrating now? The same Pakistanis who were hostile toward it until yesterday are now doing a complete U-turn. Lol :ROFLMAO:

India’s economy looks big only because its population is huge. When you look at income per person, it’s basically on the same level as Bangladesh. A massive total GDP doesn’t mean much if it’s spread across 1.4 billion people. What matters is how well ordinary people live.

Response to if India attempts to destabilise Bangladesh.

He is not making threats wily nily. It is a normal response from a politician who's country is threatened by bullying in this way.
if..lol

You can respond in many ways, but threatening statements like “we will encourage terrorism and separatism at the borders” and “we will separate Northeast India from India” are completely immature and stupid.

Brother, as an Indian you should request your government to stop attempts to destabalise Bangladesh and to hand over this fugitive. Instead you are supporting this Indian hooliganism and then criticising the way that people respond.

Sure, he should have been mature, but we should request maturity from the Indian side too.

You cannot throw punches and then get annoyed when someone threatens to punch back.

India should come to an agreement to remove her to a third country, maybe one of the Arab countries, and work forwards to forge peace in the region. This way, the Bangladeshis can have no complaints against them. It will be a win win for all. Their asset will be protected and out of harms way, and they don't look antagonistic to their neighbours either.

Bangladesh is a non-entity to be honest for India.

I visited West Bengal in 2018 and my memories were, its one of the dirtiest places in India. And I heard that, Bangladesh is far more worse than West Bengal and I can only Imagine.

India shouldn't interfere in Bangladeshi politics as who want to get into a mess willingly??

Their students hand a revolution and 1.5 year is a decent enough time to showcase any kind of improvement but Bangladesh only went downwards.

All the preach about RSS and they wont even put a fair comment on radicalization going on in Bangladesh.

Agree.

India should return Hasina to BD and get lost from BD.

Old days of Indian bootlicking are over. Sanghis must accept this reality. :inti

Do you have any proof for what you’re claiming? Who exactly is supporting hooliganism here? It’s you by backing comments that openly promote separatism and terrorism.

Pakistanis should be the last to lecture anyone on relations with neighbors, given that they can’t even maintain peace with their own religious neighbors. :salute

Right, almost every neighboring country is a non entity, yet ever since Sri Modi Ji took office, India has been unsuccessfully working overtime to isolate all of them.

It is a shame to view it from a religious lens only. India and Nepal have dispute in the past, and they share the same religion. India and China have disputes, and they have some similarities from a religious POV, too.

These debates stem from territorial and political aspirations, not religion.

they will not return to BD.

But by holding in India they are taunting.

Easily they can come to an agreement with a third country. to exile.

What they are doing is not isolated. It is all planned and executed on ISI’s prescription. If a conflict with India can somehow be provoked, it opens a path to rewrite the stain of 1971. To cleanse Pakistan’s guilt, they are deliberately pushing Bangladesh toward danger.

Calls to break India apart or to kick out the Indian High Commissioner are not diplomatic language. They are outright, inflammatory threats. Even Russia and Ukraine, locked in an active war, do not use such reckless words against each other.

Nothing there is accidental. It is part of a larger design. Even before assuming power, Dr Yunus spoke of breaking India’s Seven Sisters. What we are seeing now is the continuation of that mindset. A planned provocation, a calculated strategy, and a dangerous propaganda campaign carried out under Yunus’s direction.

The day India takes them seriously ,Bangladesh will lost half of their country, and now they are not even able to enjoy the freedom that was given by India.

:klopp :kp

India–Nepal disputes are not serious and have never involved statements like those from Bangladesh.
Territorial disputes are quite common across many borders, but China and Nepal have never threatened to use terrorism or extremism as a weapon.

That's a brave call from a country like BD. Sure, kickout Indian businesses. It's BD's loss.

You are mouthing all of this living in Canada. BD depends on India for so much of its needs. Which Indian tourist even visits BD? May be some youtubers and business people. I hope BD suspends everything from India and relies solely on Pakistan's Showbaz's government. Better yet, they should join Pakistan. Both deserve eachother. :vk2

Can we expect a mega bollywood blockbuster starring 6/7 male leads fighting an evil james bond villain type BD baddie in 2026 then? Will you guys be using footage from the last functioning Rafale to show how India bombed BD back to 1971?

when it comes to India, Pak and BD are together now. Hence the butt hurt reactions from Bhakta everywhere.

BD, Pakistan, China, and Maldives are on the same page when it comes to India.

I believe SL and Nepal also have issues with India.

India are currently pretty isolated in the region. :inti

That is no surprise as religion and extremism is the core uniting factor for both the countries.

It is funny we are discussing this but this hostility benefits India as trade goes on under the carpet and on the front, India will have much more reason to expel the illegal Bangladeshis. Southern metro cities like Bangalore and Hyderabad are filled with these people as they come for better livelihood. I wont be too critical of them but at the end they damage the demographics and band together to influence vote banks.

In the list, except China, rest are non-entities. And I am 100% sure that China will not damage its relationship with India because of Pakistan or Bangladesh. No matter how much. China takes decisions for its benefits and trade with India is ever important for China.

You have a tendency to gang-up always talking about isolation blah blah, but foreign policies are made for the benefit of its people. Something Pakistan and Bangladesh are alien about. Only 2 countries responded strongly to the US tariffs still negotiating a deal for mutual benefits - China and India.

I know you wish to be a Chinese deep down given the number if times you bring China into discussion, but they are not know to treat muslims well!

India has that option, history shows it. In 1971, India trained and armed loyalist forces like the Mukti Bahini, and before Pakistan’s Operation Searchlight even began, thousands of Urdu speaking Bihari men were slaughtered, women were raped, and children were killed across villages and towns. These aren’t disputed facts, they’re documented in post war accounts and human rights reports.

Sri Modi ji, time to get to work.

During the WC or some event in B'desh there was a governmental tourism ad. One tiger reserve or something and the rest were some lakes and randoms. It was a hilarious ad. No wonder our friend here hasn't visited in 20 years but still offers support and views via his keyboard :dhoni

I don't think India can do that now because most modern day Bangladeshis do not like India. :inti

Also, India is unlikely to do anything because Bangladesh is not strategically important.

Keyboard sanghis can write big things but they are not in charge of making decisions. :inti

Intersting - because one can argue the same is the case with India. The religion and extremism and anti muslim sentiment is their uniting factor against nations in the region who are viewed as hostile. Even on the field of sports, using that as an exucse, basic niceties are not being observed and yet trade goes on under the table internationally.

So you see, the case of the pot calling the kettle black here?

India has only inclined towards right wing in the past 10 years. Prior to that, India was largely secular to an extent that there was no comparison between India and Pakistan. But mind you, even with BJP, there is no hostile environment which is something new compared to the past. Infact, if you check Muslim dominated regions like J&K, and even parts of clusters in the South, they have fared better vs Congress regime. Anyway, that’s a discussion for another day but the large outcry in India is because of the Muslims long standing affiliation with Congress but not necessarily due to petty politics. UP/Bihar was a different ball game due to the Jungle raj there but Hindu-Muslim relations haven't changed much in the recent past.

Pakistan being a theocratic state was always difficult for minorities like Hindus. An average Muslim will get better opportunities hands down in India than an average Hindu in Pakistan and there is no fear of blasphemy hanging on your head.

Obviously, news in Pakpassion is a bit skewed but you have to understand when Mehdi Hassan raised the atrocities against Hindus with Yunus in Bangladesh. Political instability has paved the way for radical elements to grab some power which is visible now.

All the animosity on the field b/w India vs Pakistan is due to the recent army clashes rather than religion. Its actually Pakistan commentators / players who always bring religion into Cricket rather than Indian players.

Among the posters here, you are the one who is factually incorrect most of the times, cannot backup with any data to prove your point. Can we band the whole Bangladeshis in the same mould??

Never seen a more hateful online persona than you. Not just because you post against India. Even @DeadlyVenom and @Cpt. Rishwat etc do that. But they have point to make at-least in most cases and just ridicule on opponents weak points. But, you on the other side doesn't bother the topic, but just hatred towards India and Hinduism.

Never seen you point out against China on their treatment of Muslims but always sucking up to them to be against India. Comfortably ignores points made my Pakistani posters against Bangladesh but only focus on Indian posters. And you talking about hypocrisy?? 😂

I sincerely hope, average Bangladeshis are not like you.

Bangladesh Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi has died after a gun attack in Dhaka. He was being treated in Singapore

Hadi was a vocal supporter of “Greater Bangladesh”, advocating claims over India’s Northeast

His death may fuel unrest in Bangladesh. Could be a messy weekend in Bangladesh

:kp

The Hadi guy died. Allegedly killed by one of Hasina's men (I have also read report he was an Indian agent).

This death can mean there is a severe as*-kicking waiting for all Hasina's men/Indian agents. This death is not a good news for all the Indian agents in Bangladesh. :inti

Let's see how it develops.

Killer's parents were jailed for helping their son to escape. They should remain jailed until killer turns himself in.

Gloves need to come off now. Time for restraint is over.

Pakistani Used a term "RAW KI Saazish " now Bangladeshi are using same term to hide own incompetent.

When extremist groups take over a country, all this is natural, this is just the beginning for Bangladesh.

In next 2 day's, There is every chance that radicals will try and storm the Indian embassy or the resident of a diplomat/diplomats. These have been fuelled by dangerous propaganda against India.

A quote comes to my mind:

Those who make revolutions by halves do nothing but dig their own tombs - Louis Antoine de Saint-Just

It basically means when you are doing a revolution, go all in. Don't be half-hearted. Don't do the job 50% done. Finish the job. :inti

Mr. @Devadwal. Calling people "radical Islamists" is unlikely to stop people from dealing with Indian agents. Please stop posting fake Indian news.

People are angry and that is not good news for the Indian agents. Some of them may get hunted down like rats. :inti

Radical Islamist attack hindu in Bangladesh . @Rajdeep it's time Dowal to do his job. :kp

Just get our diplomats out and maybe raise voice to protect our Hindu bros from all the rabid switch hits and reverse sweep shots.

Let these guys burn and torch their own country for all I care. Sympathies with normal Bangladeshi citizens but your problem.

Funny people think India will let Hasina go into this rabid underwear stealing mob just because some rabid Islamist Bangladeshis are burning their country, lol it seems lot of work for Younus to control the mob. Till then 🍿

This is why CAA is very important. Protect our Hindu brother and rest can go to hell.

Maybe swap a deal to send Muslim ( who wants to go there , no forceful deporting) from India and takes back all the Hindu.

Bangladeshis didn’t want to exist with Hindus in 1947, then they didn’t want to be with Pakistani Muslims in 1971, since then they had army coups, assasinations, rabid mobs etc etc etc.

the champu thinks Indians will shed a tear if Hasina’s supporters are executed. Lmao, you are killing your own citizens not Indians. We actually don’t give a fk about Hasina either, she could have done a lot more instead she also gave such Islamists and jihadis a voice as well for vote bank like the others which came back to bite her. Yes, it’s our dharma to protect a lady on whom this-👉 :inti type of people unleashed rabid perverts who stole underwear etc.

That’s about it. Once the dust settles she should be packaged off too.

According to geopolitical experts Hasina will go back to Bangladesh in 2027-28 and again becomes PM .

Yes you're right, I also don't care about haseena either but Bangladesh was one the top growing economy during his tenure.

Now Bangladesh goes back to darkest period of their history.

Can you call Pakistan a functioning democracy?? A state formed based on the religion trying to be a democracy but invoking God at every step is not exactly a democratic state. Its much closer to a theocratic state than a democratic state and reality is just not digestible.

May be I don't know much about Pakistan but we see more people on PP giving lectures on India to Indians. Funny isn't it?

An extremist died and his other extremists supporters have caused myhem last night. Sad to see what they've turned my country into.

I have no idea who this guy is and is most probably an extremist but Bangladesh population itself is kinda extremist so it kind of makes sense why they are going after India since it’s pretty clear that RAW is behind his murder

Bangladesh is literally surrounded by India from all sides. Its geography is so vulnerable it wouldn’t take India longer than a few days to take over the entire country. Only reason they don’t do that apart from India respecting its neighbour’s sovereignty howsoever stupid they maybe is that Bangladesh isn’t desirable, neither are its people. If India takes over Bangladesh it would bring our value down by 20% as a nation.

Just so that all of you understand. These jihadi extremists are democratic, civil, and human rights advocate as long as they're out of power. This is not the true selves of them. They're in a state of taqiyya, masquerading to fool the masses. Once they taste an ounce of power, their true terrorists selves come out.
This is what I've seen in my country. A so called fascist let the biggest daily papers relentlessly criticize and abuse her to the point where these dailies created narratives to support the terrorists ousting the government.
Coming to the present, these dailies have been destroyed by the monsters they've nurtured and provided space to.
So summing up my experience of living in Bangladesh for the last one and a half years, I would say,
"Dont trust these scums"

I have no idea who this guy is and is most probably an extremist but Bangladesh population itself is kinda extremist so it kind of makes sense why they are going after India since it’s pretty clear that RAW is behind his murder

Bangladeshi people (most of them at least) just don't want India to control BD. That's all. That's not extremism. That's self-respect. That's why Hasina was made to flee Bangladesh like a dog.

If RAW is behind that murder, many Indian agents in Bangladesh can also be executed similarly and lawfully.

Indian agents in Bangladesh need to understand this type of action is bad for them. How are they planning to deal with angry mobs? They can be in big trouble. :inti

You’re right. IMO Bangladeshis shou storm Indian embassy in Dhaka or wherever it is to send a message rather than burning random buildings

No. Storming embassy is a bad idea. I support kicking out Indian ambassador formally but no need to storm embassy as it can be bad PR. :inti

What I propose is banning Awami League (Hasina's party); they are the Indian agents. It should be a criminal offense to support them. Also, some of the party members need to be executed for looting, corruption, murder etc.

Would you support Bangladesh becoming East Pakistan again?

That will really show the Indians.

Not that I care too much but it's tough to know whether to feel happy or sorry for the Bangladeshis.

They've basically jumped from

- The frying pan of a fascist, oligarchic, pro-India civilian dictator to
- The fire of a civilian facade military dictatorship that uses religious propaganda for popularity

I suppose if you combine the annoyance of the forum's resident Canadian who is happy to see Bangladesh burn so long as they murder all Hindus and Hasina sympathisers, you have to lean towards just letting them be.

Bangladesh is sliding into open lawlessness. Regime-backed militants have torched newspaper offices, stormed Indian diplomatic missions or residences, and lynched a Hindu minority youth by tying him to a tree and burning him alive.

As mobs rule the streets, the interim regime headed by a Nobel Peace Prize winner has turned its coercive power inward. The de facto interior minister has ordered police to arrest members of the opposition Awami League even where no cases exist against them, while the law minister has urged courts to deny bail to all such detainees. Together, these directives amount to an assault not only on press freedom but on the rule of law itself.

The message is unmistakable: dissent and minorities are no longer safe. In the wake of these attacks, the country’s two leading newspapers have been forced to shut down.
