Any Villa Fans here?

Use to be a big fan back in the day, not so familiar with the current crop but have always supported the team.

Tim Sherwood is the new coach, has done okay in his recent tenure and it's a huge achievement reaching the FA Cup Final for our club in over a decade! Can they finally win the big one? Midfielder Jack seems a good prospect.

They are sitting nicely on the Premier League table now given their positioning a few months ago but will need to win some more games to eliminate the possibility of relegation.

Absolutely enjoyed knocking the jobbers Liverpool out of the tournament :))) It was a nice feeling, similar to when Pak beat India or Eng defeat Australia.

Beating Arsenal will be a big task, don't have high expectations for a surprise but hopefully they put on a good performance.

Best thing was Gerrard didn't make it to the final. The build up would have been unbearable.

Trust me, Liverpool fans are the most unbearable on the planet. They would have made a bigger deal out of it then Australians did for Don Bradmans funeral :))) He can watch it from home now in a puddle of Tears and .....:yk hahaha

Benteke is a beast. I would love to see him at Man United.

It's a shame that Villa have fallen so low after Martin O'Neil. They were a top 6 club under him.

congrats man. Liverpool deserved this. This club really disappoints me and the fans even more.

I think Tim aka Bourne 2.0 is the perfect replacement for Lambert

btw, any Shiverpool fans here I can troll :pfft

Villa use to be a top team, 7 Premier League titles and a European Championship win to. Wish Martin never left.

Not a big fan of Messi tbh although he's a beast for barca. Man how can I forget, in the early 2000's Rick Rude Van Nisteroy was my favourite, supported villa but would turn into Man U games for him he was so good. He played for Madrid as well didn't he? Henry is football, nuff said.

Remember JR commentary on Brazil v Germany? :)))

I can't believe PakPassion now has an Aston Villa fan club. Albeit it consists mainly of one person. How come you follow Villa shazzy? I mean, like do you have any association with the city or something because usually relative neutrals don't follow perennial mid-table teams.

Villa were winning premier league titles before winning them was cool haha.

Am from the West Midlands for me it was always going to be out of Villa or Birmingham F.C, but even then 99% of Asians in particular don't support either lol When I was a kid my uncle took me to a football merchandise shop to get some kit for school, there were liverpool shirts, Man U shirts, Chelsea etc but the Villa shirt caught my attention and I said to my uncle buy me that. I didn't even know Villa was my home team then, but ever since have supported them. Had a soft spot for the likes of Arsenal and Man U but always supported Villa. It is unusual though :)) most my friends support either Liverpool, Man U or Chelsea. Too much patriotism for where I come from, even though sport isn't war haha

I'm going to turn you into a Liverpool fan now. My powers of persuasion hold no bounds. :ksi

I've always had a soft spot for Villa mainly because Mark Bosnich played for them. But Craig Johnson playing for Liverpool is what got me interested in the Premier League (or whatever it was called back then) in the first place.

Jack Grealish is a very good player but the way English media is hyping him,I think he will go down to the league of Ben,Carroll etc

Haven't really had a look at them with me not being such a hardcore football fan :)) but heard their names carry some weight, hopefully decent talents. The sale of Beneteke may have proved beneficial in the end because the sherwood hasn't been hesitant in bringing in fresh faces and it's what villa needs imo, where do you think they will finish this season? I'd be content with a position around about the middle in the table

Depends what we do this week...we haven't actually spent any money...we have simply spent the Delph and Benteke money...

Im hoping for more of a net spend by the end of the week...im liking the ljajic link...apparently we bid for Gervinho too which was turned down...

If we get at least a centre back and striker then I think we have a decent season...without them we're gonna struggle...

He was England U17 captain...and reportedly turned down Bayern, Arsenal and Liverpool to remain here...

Dunno what to make of these things...Andre Green another one of our kids was apparently interesting Arsenal and Chelsea...

Gary Gardener was being scouted by Inter...

I hope Easah does well...this country needs a talented Pakistani footballer...

Gabriel Agbonlahor is the most loyal footballer out there, thoroughbred Brummie and the beating heart of Villa; had many offers over the years but never jumped ship he is over leading goal scorer and has an amazing record in Derby's even when out of form, few weeks ago when we beat City he scored the winnner and it was his first goal of the season :))

OMG ! Aston Villa have signed JOHN FRIGGIN TERRY !!!! shaykh where you at Villa fans ! :)))

Terry is an excellent signing for the Villians, a team which were abysmal in defence really needed a leader at the back. He is recieved a great deal at Villa, let's see if he can help them back to the PL.

This has to be record in itself right, when has a PL champion ever signed for a championship team the following season. Totally agree, the morale must not be high in the AV dressing room and Terry will surely boost it; the key for the team will be to play as well as they can in the words of Mickey Arther :afridi and just forget about the rest

The start will be crucial, if you guys get on a winning roll I'm sure the confidence will then see you over the line.

When is the first match? Maybe you can get the mods to update the OP with this seasons fixtures?

I expect them to finish the season in the 12-16 range in the table, just not good enough to gain promotion; looks like it will be 2-3 seasons before we figure out that our dimensional approach to footy simply doesn't work. On the bright side the Bears qualify for finals day :akhtar

I hope the young British Pakistani lad Easah Suliman gets a run out for the Villians soon.

Aston Villa eased to their seventh straight league win as they climbed to second in the Championship with a deserved derby triumph over Birmingham City.

Albert Adomah put Villa ahead on the hour, steering home his 13th league goal of season from 15 yards.

Conor Hourihane's superb dipping left-foot volley then sealed victory.

Cheikh Ndoye's stoppage-time red card for a second bookable offence further marred Blues' day.

Relive Villa's victory over Birmingham City as it happened
The Senegal midfielder could have been dismissed earlier but he escaped punishment for a challenge on Jack Grealish, before being booked in the second half when he again brought down the Villa winger.

He was finally sent off after being part of a kerfuffle in the dying seconds.

Blues' best chances came before the break when they hit the post through Sam Gallagher and they were again denied by the woodwork when Marc Roberts' late header came back off the bar.

But, in a week marred by the loss of his father, Steve Bruce's Villa were much the better side against his former club and hit the woodwork three times, the best effort from Scott Hogan.

For Steve Cotterill's Blues, who have looked a much improved side of late, it was only their second league defeat in eight games, but they remain just two points clear of trouble.

Villa, by contrast, are now into the automatic promotion places - one point clear of Gary Rowett's Derby, but 12 behind leaders Wolves - after winning seven-straight league games for the first time since 1990.

The first half belonged to Villa, who carved out a succession of good chances.

From a lovely move out of defence orchestrated by a great first time pass by John Terry, Hogan cut in to smack a right-foot volley against the bar.

There were three clearing headers by Blues defenders from almost underneath their own bar, and Hogan had a close-range effort blocked after Grealish and Adomah had opened Blues up.

Adomah also cut in to unleash a fierce right-foot shot which was parried by Birmingham keeper David Stockdale, before then firing a low effort just wide.

Yet it was Blues who wasted the best chance of the half when Terry slipped after being tricked by Jacques Maghoma's through ball, allowing Gallagher clear down the right on goal.

But the on-loan Southampton striker's low right-foot shot came back off the post, then he ballooned the rebound over.

Villa's class finally told when, fed by Grealish, top scorer Adomah cut in from the left to slide a low right-foot shot in off the despairing Stockdale's right post for his 13th goal of the season.

But the best was still to come as Hourihane chested down a half-clearance before powering forward to score a stunning second.

The match ended in an ugly mass confrontation following Ndoye's altercation with Mile Jedinak, which was followed by further heated words with Terry.

Post-match reaction
Aston Villa assistant manager Colin Calderwood told BBC Sport:

"Steve Bruce came in on Saturday. It was the first time the players had seen him this week and, from then, it's all been normal. He picked his team and picked his subs.

"He's a very family orientated man but he's managed to control everything that's gone on in his personal life.

"He gave an excellent half-time team talk in terms of keeping them focused and calm, telling them 'don't be disappointed', that we just had to produce what we'd already done. And the goals came. A shaft of light. A moment of happiness..

"Derbies are good games to win and we're on a good run of derby wins. We'll enjoy the elation but we're all aware of what lies ahead. We have the future to take care of."

Birmingham City manager Steve Cotterill told BBC Sport:

"Quality, experience, belief. We weren't quite good enough to take them on.

"It was a bit big for a few of our younger boys. They have not performed as they have done in recent weeks.

"The way we've been playing, it gave everyone more belief that we could come and do something, that's why the disappointment is bigger. But we weren't good enough to take on a really experienced team.

"If Sam Gallagher's shot had gone in, it might have been different. But you just hope that this was a one-off as we've not shown a lot of anxiety over the last two months."

A very good win for the Villians over the bluenoses. I managed to catch some of the, a full Villa park was rocking.

It's pretty tight up the top of the Championship, Villa need to keep this good form going for as long as possible.

No one cares about the Wolves, heck Brum are on the brink of relegation yet they make up the ultimate midlands derby with Villa

Automatic relegation is still hardwork given that there is little to separate teams from 2-5, but surely they will make play offs compatibly.

Good on Woakes always been a true West Midlands boy.

I heard a lot about Jack Grealish but only saw him play a properly in the derby, he was outstanding.

I'm thinking he could be a great England player in years to come, a playmaker which England needs desperatly. Maybe LFC should take him off Villa. :23:

I know Liverpool is a team full of traitors, mercenaries and guys with zero loyalty generally:yk2 and Benteke fitted in very nicely at Anfield :)) but you won't get your hands on Grealish :mv he has been a lifelong Villa Fan from the West Midlands, plus this isn't Wolvo or Skum City; Villains are very very proud and full of pride:akhtar

Seriously though a talent of his quality will eventually get snapped up and its hard to criticise him for going after the big bucks but I think he will do his club proud before making the switch, would be a big deal to get us automatic promotion to the PL. Even though I know the team needs another season at the Championship before making the big jump.

I think John Terry has been a great influence on the young players at Villa but if Villa dont get promoted im not sure they will be able to continue to pay his wages, I think it's around £60k a week.

Tbf the bottom half of the PL is full of average teams, they would all go down if there were more spaces for relegation. Villa are ready to battle such teams imo.

They're not paying Terry much as it is even though he is on the biggest wage in terms of the Championship, if he stayed they will continue to pay him. But at the same time, if Villa get promoted to the PL then Terry wont stay. When Terry signed for Villa one of the main reasons was that he did not want to play against Chelsea and at the Championship Level there is no bigger club then Villa due to their rich history.

If Villa get promoted I think Terry will leave for the US, if we don't he will remain and we will pay him around about the same with a little bit of a boost; he won't mind it and is quiet well off already, he's a very principled guy and I have a lot of respect for him because he didn't have to come down, could easily have gone else where in Europe or North America.

Fantastic performance by Villa, I called the win but didn't expect such a large victory! Now only 4 points behind Cardiff and 10 games to go. Cardiff won today but I feel Villa are in better form and may pip Cardiff to second place which would be amazing considering the start to the season.

I am shocked by the result to, I was expecting something along the lines of 10-1 :mv they call themselves the 'wanderers' you could tell they were lost on the pitch and I 'wander' what they were doing there to begin with :yk like I said before Villa/City is the ultimate derby even with them struggling at the bottom make games competetive/exciting, Wolvo have and will always be our little illegitimate child :broad

Credit to Terry as well he defended so well and has lead from the front inspirationally, do you know the grealish song? Lol it would be quiet the story bouncinh back from the struggles early on, still a lot to do with 10 games left but hopefully we can challenge for the top 2

Poor effort today, lacked the intensity from the derby game. No.2 seems tough but will still have a chance to get through the play offs

It is mate, a lot of folk especially asians tend to be glory hunters. A friend of mine was telling me how his dad is a fan of Villa, I was like really? :yk he's not even from brum, then my mate said that his dad mainly supported them during his day because of all the trophies they use to win, so Villa back then would attract fans beyond the midlands.

I suppose it makes sense and while Villa retain the aura of a top flight club in the echelons of english football given their rich history, they are a shadow right now so wont attract fans who love to win championships at the highest level constantly and are drawn to that. With me I just been a fan since I was a kid while me mates supported the likes of Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool; to be fair Villa weren't doing as bad as they are now in the 90s and 2000's (apart from last 5-6 years)

Wolvo begging it from Villa fans like an illegitimate child after being destroyed :)) it's a disgrace to call that game a derby, even the lowly Brum City show more fight
