The Aston Villa Fan Club

You're an embarrasment @ Wolvo and it took a Villa fan to get talk going with regards to the championship on PP, you don't even have a fan club! You're ashamed of your team and my club will always be looked upon amongst the elites even at its worst, you will never dance with glory and you"ll never dare to be great :broad

My post was deleted actually, where were you when we destroyed you. Some wolves fan is protecting what is left of your izzat after we took it in that 4-1 mauling :ashwin now your left revelling in our defeats to feel better, but nothing will change that day, the day we showed you up for what you are and will always be, midlands dumping ground :broad how embarassing that you're bragging about the victories of other teams over Villa when you coudn't get it done yourself lmao Villa will always be the ones who wear the pants :akhtar

Do not fancy your chances in the playoffs against Fulham, Derby, Middlesborough

What does it say about your bunch of wannabe's losing 4-1 to their midland dads :yk2 I will watch replays of this on the telly for sure:

Great season for us regardless of whether or not we get the promotion, but hopefully we triumph at Wembley.

Jlloyd Samuel: Family pay tribute after former footballer dies in car crash

The family of Jlloyd Samuel have paid tribute to the former Aston Villa and Bolton defender after his death in a car crash.

Samuel died aged 37 after his Range Rover was involved in a collision with a van in Cheshire on Tuesday.

The father-of-four's family said they were "devastated by their sudden loss".

"Jlloyd was a loving son, father, husband and brother," the family added in a statement.

"He was extremely popular and well loved by all who were fortunate to know him."

Samuel made 199 appearances for Villa after signing for the club in 1998, and played 83 times for Bolton between 2007 and 2011.

He won two caps for Trinidad and Tobago and also played club football in Iran between 2011 and 2015

The crash he died in happened in High Legh at 07:55 BST on Tuesday.

Police say the van driver, a 54-year-old man from Chester, remains in a serious condition in hospital.

RIP, he served Villa very well and played a pivotal role in the early 2000's success.

Fantastic performance against Borough even though I thought you'd win the second leg but it doesn't matter now. I know a few guys who were at Villa Park and even on T.V the place was rocking, still one of the best atmospheres in England.

Fulham are on fire and have been for a few months now so it will be tough for Villa but the way Bruce sets them up at the back they have a great chance of getting back into the PL.

26th of May will be a great night for football, Villa at 5pm and then LFC later, hopefully we both will be smiling by late evening or you could be smiling double . :)

Great night of football for England, the key for us will be to remain very positive even if we're down. The defence is great but don't want to put all our eggs in one basket and goals win you the game. Not LFC's biggest fan but it's great to see an English football club in the final :mv and good luck mate

Good for Wolvo hopefully they do well in the EPL, back to the drawing board for us :mv

Have fun in the championship for another year, even JT (the best player in your history, mind) couldn't save you. :ab

And you could still play in the PL for the next 100 years but you won't ever compare to Villa or surpass their first division titles :ashwin

We have 6, you have 7. It's not as far off as you think, and we have an FA Cup and an Europa League title on you guys. :))

Unlucky. A rebuild is going to be needed with some older players and some players out of contract.

Europa League pfft that would have been like me bragging about a championship title that should have been won :mv we have 7 FA Cups you have 8, that's not too far off either. More importantly we have the greatest footballer of all time :afridi he was so ashamed of playing for you all those years that he'd go down a level to represent a club with more esteem :yk

The first 30 minutes were always going to be important, whoever broke the deadlock was going to win by defending like their lives depended on it. It can make for boring games in big games though but wouldn't be complaining if we won :( Yeah, expect more youth next season and some fresh legs hopefully

Won't be easy to be promoted next year. Swansea,Stoke, and West Brom will also be in the championship and want to be promoted in their 1st season.

It will be very competitive next year, it should make the season more entertaining though on the positive side

You don't feel the glory of the Europa League till you win it, sorry Shaz. :)))

Sure you do but he's too respectful towards us. He literally asked for a contract that allows him to miss games v us if Villa get promoted. What a guy (even though I think it would be better to have him on the pitch at the Bridge again, imagine the atmosphere and reaction he would get).

Well that's your level these days isn't it :yk when we back, there will be muted celebrations until the UCL is in our hands; got a tear in me eye just thinking about it :yk3

I think he was emotional during that time, feel like he will play you now if we get the oppourtunity. I hope we keep him around even after promotion, he may be 75 years old by then :)) but we're very loyal to our own and those who represent the Villains. Has been fantastic for us regardless of the unfortunate end to the season.

Very funny, you won't realise how good we are until we get in Sarri as manager and show the force we can be. :sarf

Yeah it probably was just emotion, though I think he sticks to the idea of not playing against us, I hope continues playing. I still can't believe some Villa fans who were not happy about his signing and thinking he isn't good anymore, the guy is the best player in your history and got into the team of the season despite being injured and like 37 years old!

I wonder whether he's going to continue playing in the championship or whether he'll retire, either way, unlucky for Villa.

It seems he has agreed to take over. shaz619 happy with this?

He will be expected to win promotion in his first season which wont be easy.

Celebrity managerial appointments rarely work anywhere and particularly in the Championship. I wish him the best but i would give it until Christmas and he will be gone.

Agree with Bewal on this and remain sceptical on how well he will do, Bruce had a terrific track record and am surprised we have let him go. I think this signing may have also been made due to financial reasons, we've made losses in each of the seasons since the Chinese fella took over and the annual deficit accumulated over a 3 year period can result in serious fines among other punishments; perhaps we got Henry on the cheap compared to what Bruce was being paid :yk2 expect Grealish to be sold very soon as well to make up for losses.

On the positive side while the jury will be out on how well Henry will do, he will no doubt lift the players (hopefully, although this will be a challenge given how everyone had bonded with Bruce so well) and our fans given the low morale after we failed to beat Fulham. He is a huge figure that commands respect and you know what, sometimes experience / expertise can be overly rated compared to inspiration; especially in the championship where the qualify of football being played is below EPL, maybe having someone with a big presence can really rally the team in those difficult moments. But to Henry's credit he spent 3 seasons at Barcelona learning from the best and had one hell of a career himself. He'd have taken a big risk to, Henry has a reputation to protect as well. It's a big challenge for him and our club, honestly speaking I predict a terrible season lol don't have high expectations personally, unless we scrape through predict that we can be contenders again in 1-2 seasons time.

Agree his experience learning the art of coaching will help him a lot inc his run as assistant to the Belgium team.

It also seems you might have some money coming in.

Egyptian billionaire Nassef Sawiris and Fortress Investment Group co-founder Wes Edens have agreed to buy a majority stake in Aston Villa, injecting funds into the English soccer team that narrowly missed rejoining the lucrative Premier League last season.

Tony Xia, the Chinese businessman that bought the club in 2016, will become co-chairman and will remain on the board, the team said in a statement.

Sawiris and Edens’s group, NSWE, will acquire a 55 percent stake in the team for about 30 million pounds ($39 million), people familiar with the matter said.

“We believe that together we bring business and sports experience that will help strengthen the club to ensure Aston Villa can return to its rightful place in the upper echelons of English football,” Sawiris and Edens said in the statement.

“Our priority is to strengthen the squads and structures ahead of the upcoming season and beyond.”

That's a positive although there's a cap on spending especially on our side who went all out over the past few years, but looking ahead it's a great sign but in the short term as fans we will need to be patient, that shouldn't be a problem for our fans though we have plenty of experience there :yk

Don't know why anybody would want that reprobate representing their club

Will begrudgingly route for your club as the sole representative of the midlands :mv you've made some very encouraging signings to boost your overall strength,; Moutinho, Patricio, Jimene, Bonatini, Boly, Jota and Vinagre will help push for a very strong finish inside the top 10 at the very least and that wouldn't be bad comeback season at all.

Got to give the owners at Wolvo so much credit, they have been investing a huge amount of money into their team and managed to turn a profit of nearly £6m last season, despite their growing wage bill and improvements of the club’s training ground. We could learn a lot from them on how to do business properly.

KingKhanWC I hope you get crushed by Wolvo FC, they will all be derby's for me :))

May sneak into the play offs but still not ready for EPL am afraid, also don't have much to spend due to the last few seasons and financial fair play. Hope we can hang on to Grealish for another season. Wolvo are having a good season s28 :mv

Despicable act by the fan. Tarnished the club's image!

City will and always be pure skum, they are a disgrace to the midlands. In the same game, the steward was assaulting grealish as well and has been arrested. City need to be penalised severely via an instant relegation, the FA have been way to lenient and the club itself does little to change the club's perception and come down hard on the despicable behaviour by its fans.

I think relegation is harsh but City do need a strong punishment. The fan being crazy is one thing but app he ran on from the family stand lol. The reaction of most of their fans too was appalling, cheering him on and applauding him. Lucky for Jack the fan had a poor technique even thrown he swang all the way back from solihull. 10pts taken off, huge fine and the fan to be prosecuted would be fair.

It looked more like a clothesline lol the skum will be jailed for 14 weeks but that is not enough, Brum City needs to do so much more to clamp down on the culture at their club; their fans will attack anyone with a Villa shirt on or get extremely hostile. The steward was also assaulting Jack for some reason lol he was arrested soon after. Agree 10 points is a severe enough penalty and if not that they deserve a massive fine

Aston Villa v Derby County - Play off final.
shaz619 Derby can be dangerous on their day as they have just showed beating Leeds away to reach the final but what a chance for Villa to get back with the big boys!

Golden opportunity this, in a way no one would have bet on this final and both teams have shown tremendous heart and determination against all odds under immense pressure to keep at it. Hoping we can pull this off and maybe I will show up at Anfield one day at the opposite side to you ;) This is about pride and a rich footballing history, Derby are worthy opponents and am happy for them to :)

Congrats mate. I hope you pull it off and as a neutral believe you are strong favourites to do so esp with the recent form. I also missed Villa in the top league as I would go to Villa Park to watch some games because its local. I dont know much about this new manager but since coming in half way through the season he has done a brilliant job.

Do you think you have the backing of the board to buy some new players to cement a place in the Premier League, where you belong?

He has mate, just think how we were literally limping in the top 20 after that god awful start, no disrespect to Bruce because he is terrific but we rolled the dice and we began to build some momentum, Grealish has also been such a huge talisman not just as a player but as a leader / stand-in captain, I don't want to see him go but it seems inevitable, either way if we pull this off he deserves a lot of credit and everyone else.

I have faith in the board they will make the right choices, we invested heavily in the team last season to try and get promoted, I think they will play it a little safe financially but if we do make it and also avoid relegation in the EPL that would be a great platform to start off with

Whatever anyone says the Playoff final is the biggest game in football...the amount a club can gain from going up and the amount one can lose is immense...

We go up...then I reckon we keep Grealish...we will sign El Ghazi, Mings, Tammy, Hause and Tuanzebe...important we don't go the Fulham route and try and create a new team...

What I have loved about our loanees this season is how much they love the club...I don't think ive ever wanted to sign a player as much as i want to sign Mings...

I am bricking it though about the final...We are 7-0 over Derby this season but anything can happen on finals day...

Good thing is Derby wont put 10 men behind the ball like West Brom did and aren't a dirty side like West Brom and Leeds...their style suits us...but playoff football is anything but predictable...lol the way football is going at the moment im not sure i want us to score first :) ...

As for the starting 11...most of it picks itself...

Whelan or Hourihane i'm just not sure...but i'm leaning towards Whelan...
Green and Adomah are both awful...i'm half tempted to start Kodjia there...
Taylor is our weak link too going forward...but still i'd play him over Hause...El Ghazi plays better with Taylor in the side...

If we do go up...priority areas if we keep our loanees...definitely need a good winger...
Got the French guy coming at right back...
And we could do with a new left back...Amavi would have been great under Smith...

Whatever happens it's been a great season...Smith has been immense and hopefully there will be a happy end to this season...

It's about legacy and pride, regardless though happy with the season after that horrid start but am still not convinced we hold onto Grealish even if we do make it. Yeah Derby are on a mighty high, thankfully we have some momentum to; this could be another thriller!

Tbf he isn't good enough for Spurs...and he doesn't strike me as the type who would move to warm a bench...

Maybe I have rose tinted glasses but I reckon he could be our Gerrard or Totti...the passion he has for the club...I can see him giving a Totti style retirement speech at Villa Park :) ...

My manager is a Bournemouth fan and he reckons they will want Mings back ...hope hes wrong...

Dunno if you saw Tammy's interview where he was asked how he felt about scoring what might be his last goal at Villa Park...he responded with a 'I'm not saying this is my last game'...he strikes me too as someone who loves the club...

That's what I have loved most about this season...the players look like they love the club and play like it under Smith...love McGinn...would hate to lose him which is also possible if we don't go up...

This side would survive in the Prem imo providing we get about 3/4 players in...

We have purged the U23's btw...O'Hare we have kept though and I think he will come through next season...

I see a lot of other outs too...Whelan, Jedinak, Hutton, Elphick are all out of contract...Bjarnason will be sold too...we have a decent spine if we sign our loanees...

Steer/Kalinic

Hause/Mings/Tuanzabe/Chester

Guilbert/Elmo

Taylor ....need two left backs...

Whelan is going and Hourihane should be backup to Grealish and McGinn so we need a DM...

El Ghazi....we need a couple extra wingers...

Grealish/McGinn/Hourihane

Tammy/Kodjia/Davis

2 LB's, DM, two wingers and our loanees and we're set...

And with our rich owners we can definitely do that IF and a big IF ...we go up this year...

The Championship Play-off Final is indeed one of the biggest games of the season. It is not only worth over £150 million but it is also about the honour. Aston Villa is a fantastic club - one of the biggest in the country with massive history, and they belong in the Premier League.

However, I am a bit conflicted because I hugely admire Frank Lampard and would like to see him manage Derby in the Premier League next season. He is a seriously good manager and will inevitably take charge at Chelsea at some point in the future.

I hope so, he has always been a life long Villa fan but the thing is that's not always going to be his choice to make right if the club want to sell him :yk3 I have felt the same way mate, they have played with a great deal of passion and that has been so instrumental, I doubt anyone would have predicted this after the horrid start. I"ll wait till the final before getting excited about our plans for the EPL, will not underestimate Derby at all; on the plus side this game falls on a bank holiday!

Without a doubt, it was an inspired decision by Derby to give him the reigns and he has done so well under immense pressure and expectations, surprised a lot of people to. Have a lot of respect for the Derby team for their character this season. Terry has also been a stand up guy for us at Villa even after the retirement. Agree, when you look at what is at stage is it the biggest final in English football imo and there is so much on the line, I really do hope we pull it off, would be a special moment to head back to Villa park and watch us play the top 4 in the country, it's taken for granted sometimes but win, lose or draw that is something to cherish and as we say at AVFC, it's part of the pride.

Championship is such a tough league to manage in. Players are not high on technical quality but they play with passion and heart that is often missing in the Premier League. There are very few divas with big egos who play for the cameras. Lampard has done brilliantly in his first season.

You were unlucky to not win the final last year, but even if you miss out again, it is only a matter of time before you return to where you belong.

Hasn't McGinn made Jack Grealish take a backseat interms of being your best player? For a majority of the season I thought Grealish was the Championship Hazard with his dribbling but it seems like McGinn has took all the plaudits.

I'm liking these posts, surprisingly appreciative of a Chelsea legend for an Arsenal fan. Keep it up Mamoon! :))

In all seriousness, Lampard's class as a manager never came as a surprise to me. He was a very intelligent person, player and pundit. It only makes sense that he's able to transfer his knowledge over to management. A promotion for Derby with Lampard as manager would be the dream, and I love the idea of him managing Chelsea. It all seems too good to be true at this moment in time.

I have always had a soft spot for Chelsea, and Lampard is one of my most favorite football personalities - class act through and through.

As a Wolves fan. Be quite nice to have a 'derby' game against Villa to look forward to alongside our European tour next season. Was so happy to see West Brom lose out. Lampard does get on my wick for some reason.

Yes he has been great but Grealish has been very instrumental after coming back from injury and also as the stand in captain over the last 10 games or so of the season with us achieving our greatest winning streak; has been pivotal in mid-field and is one of main reasons we are in the final after those assists in the first leg vs Brom, to put things into perspective when Grealish was away we had 2 wins in just 14 games, but football is a team sport and we've all just galvanised as a unit, like shaykh said everyone found their love for the club and that passion is clear to see, has been really important this season. Statistically it has also been Grealish's best season if you just go off the goals and assists; arguably the best player in the championship imo. If we don't get promoted unfortunately we will lose him and can't fault Grealish for his ambitions either, at the same time we'd avoid the troubles which can surround transfer requests and cash-in when his value is on the up.

Without a doubt, Wolvo are my fav to out of the derby rivals unless we face each other:)) what a tremendous season you had, hope you guys seriously challenge the top 4 next season and it's possible for sure

I hope Aston Villa get promoted. Read rumours that Lampard will be appointed Chelsea manager next season.

I'd say Reece James is (technically he's back with us), he bossed Championship midfielders and wingers like it was nothing with Wigan.

You're rare one for sure, usually Arsenal fans are quite bitter when it comes to Chelsea due to Mourinho and Wenger's infamous quarrels throughout the years. It's nice you can appreciate greatness though.

They have done it!!! WE'RE COMING HOME!!!!!!!!!! UP THE VILLAH!!!!

Words can't describe what this means, the humiliation, the blood, sweat and tears! toiling for 3 years in the championship, we're back where we belong doing our rich history justice as an all time great English footballing club!

Congratulations to Aston Villa and welcome back to the Premier League!

Thank you bro, means a lot ! what a final ! commiserations for Derby, they must be devastated but I wish them well, a very likeable team and am sure they can come again. But this our time! there's just something right about an Aston Villa in the EPL right! I hope we learn from lessons of the past and not take anything for granted ever again. Congratulations to all of Villa fans!

Am sure it's great news for you as well bro, will be convenient to see Liverpool down the road ;)

We were 13th at one point this season, never forget that; everyone wrote us off and we were not amongst the favourites to qualify even for the play offs but it took a record breaking winning streak and tremendous amounts of heart / determination to turn this around, the team really showed serious grit and spirit

I will probably go to watch Villa v any side in the PL, great stadium and great atmosphere.

Credit to the Dean Smith, he came in when the side was struggling and totaly transfromed the fortunes. Has to be one of the all time great turnarounds by a manager coming in.
