The mediocre assembled attack is not good enough. I have said this numerous times and players in summer Odegaard, trossard, Martinelli, madueke, havertz all need to go. I'd even get rid of merino as well as in his primary role as midfielder he's not good enough. As others have mentioned, you can't pick Kepa if that's his ability. As a manager, I'm sure Arteta knows this full well.
The relentless spell of pressure from City during the period from the beginning of the second half up until City's first goal killed us. The way we sat back and played it out from defence was horrendous. It only felt it was a matter of time before City were going to do the inevitable.
I love Gabriel as a defender and for his threat as a goal scorer from set pieces. But one area of his game that worries me are his clearances and ball distribution. He always seems to struggle to have the composure when he's in possession. During that relentless spell of pressure from City, there were 3 clearances that he made where he was unable to find an Arsenal player. This has been happening for far too long.
Arteta cannot keep relying on the defence, GK and the overall off-the-ball set-up/pressing to win games. Arsenal need to upgrade their front 4 but sadly I think the manager doesn't have the ability to develop the front 4, so he will opt for underwhelming signings like Anthony Gordon etc. Even if we do win the league, is this sustainable?
Also every season a teams tactics and some personal need to change to keep improving and evolving.
