1) Lost 2-1 to South Africa in 2016
2) Lost 3-1 to England in 2018
3) Won 2-1 against Australia in 2018
4) Lost 2-0 against New Zealand in 2020
5) Won 2-1 against Australia in 2021
6) Drew 2-2 against England in 2021-2022

For a team which has perhaps its greatest pace bowling attack in its entire history i.e. Bhumra, Shami, Siraj, Ishant Sharma and backed by its most aggressive greatest captain in history, barring the results in Australia, this is not a stellar record.

One can make a reasonable argument that the Aussies have gone soft because of Cricket Australia being dependent on a $300 million bail out being generated by the Indian tour of 2021, the number of Australian players playing in the IPL.

South African's in contrast properly peppered the Indians with bouncers as we saw Marcojansen go after Bhumra without worrying about any IPL contract. A very horrible, weak Sri Lankan team beat South Africa 2-0 in South Africa in 2019.

Not very impressive results above if you take out the Australia results

They lost in South Africa earlier this year also.

Even the one win we had Savak has put a * to lol.. unfortunate times for ICT fans, it is what it is, rebuilding time!

The bowling is very good but this is the weakest Indian batting side I have even seen. How they could use some of their eighties boys like Gavaskar and Vengsarkar, let alone their Sachin and their Dravid.

What is this excuse of Australia losing against us because some of their players play in the IPL?

There is clutching at straws, then there is that.

An argument can be made it dims the competitive edge with the million dollar plus paycheques at stake. Compare the on and off field hostility of Indian tours to Australia pre 2008 and the last 2-3 Indian tours to Australia.

That tour was also hostile only one before that was kind of mild..but it’s ok .. ICT deserve all the flak coming it’s way right now.

By the way, there is no particular need for any SENA filter. Those are the only guys we play against anyway - home or away.

West Indies have sunk without a trace, the less said about Sri Lanka the better, and we don't play Pakistan.

Weird argument. Other countries don't have the million dollar plus paycheques at stake?

Didn't Kyle Jamieson got a pretty big revenue last time around? But he single handedly roasted India in WTC by picking 5-fers in both innings and also scoring a quickfire 30 in a low scoring game.

Are you trying to say that Australian cricketers aren't professional while others are? You are raising questions on integrity of Australian cricketers.

Also, this is a pretty fine record for a team that has won all series at home and have won all series vs Sri Lanka and West Indies.

Don't think anyone else bar Australia come close to this performance. Even Australia only come close but not necessarily beat us given their two poor series at home vs India and South Africa.

India has always been a very difficult opponent to beat at home and has never had issues beating Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka or West Indies in West Indies even before 2015. What makes his team so special from past Indian teams?

A Rahul Dravid led Indian team won in England in 2007 something which a Kohli team with a ten times better bowling attack has failed to do so

Australia under tim paine in 2018 was a nothing side but 2021 was a great achievement.
Indian batting has let them down on most other occasions

India never defeated Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka for about 21 years between 1993-2014. So, it is not that winning in Sri Lanka was a cakewalk earlier.

The England series was a 5 match series and a 2-2 is not a bad result at all.

Winning twice in Australia is a massive achievement.

Only losing two matches at home in last 10 years is also a massive achievement especially in this result oriented era because I think Indian team in 2000s often ended up drawing series at home vs the likes of NZ, England, South Africa and lost to Australia in 2004 too.

We are talking about Sena here. Under Kohli India has failed in New Zealand, Failed in England, Failed in South Africa and only has Australia to talk about. For a side with its best pace bowling attack in history, i think Indians should concede this is a very disappointing result.

I understand you seems frustrated and has nothing better to come up with so a 2-2 in England is declared as "failed in England". First you filter it to SENA and then you filter it to SENA away. Even there, we have two test series win in Australia and one series draw in England. No team has got better results than this in that period.

Not frustrated at all

Here is a summary

- Failed in South Africa twice

- Failed in England twice

- Failed in New Zealand

This is under the captaincy of the so called legendary GOAT captain Virat Kohli. You will be blind to not admit these are very dissapointing results when you are blessed with the greatest pace attack in history

And that validates it.

This era possibly has been the best chance India had to dominate in SENA and other than Aus they haven't been able to do so. They had one of their best openers in Rohit, complemented by solid Rahul, their ATG batsman in Kohli and their best ever test WK/batsman in Pant (Especially if we consider overseas conditions), two of their ATG pacers and two of their ATG spinners.

I think this Indian side itself would have expected better then this in terms of SENA results considering the kind of potential they had as mentioned above.

Irrespective of the structure, its not often you get so many aspects of the combinations align as this Indian side of the last 5-6 years had. Not sure if it would be as easy to get the same level of balance, potential and combination in one team going forward consistently.
