In todays playing XI we had Shadab Khan,Faheem Ashraf,Hussain Talat,Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Nawaz.

In the fringes we have Amad Butt,Amir Yameen and Imad Waseem(out due to injury).

Suddenly it seems we are blessed with allrounders. This will only serve us well in the future(as long as we are not blessed with the Professor :faheem)

We can actually go in as favourites in WT20 in Australia if we keep giving chances to youngsters. Only Babar, Malik and Nawaz are left to be replaced.

Babar will play the T20 WC,barring injury.

It will be difficult if he does not improve his power hitting. There are still two PSLs to go for new players to perform and a possible Sharjeel come back before WT20 in 2020.

Today's XI packed with allrounders indeed looked good ! Stick with it.

This side had so much depth. Hasan Ali was coming in at number 10 and he is a proper six hitter.

This side was rivalling England batting depth imo. Even number 11 Amir has two ODI fifties and is no mug with the bat.

No it wont Hes a must You cant just have sloggers in the team Babar good enough batsman to be a permanent fixture and will be

Sarfaraz and Talat can play that role if needed. You can actually afford to have all sloggers, if your batting lineup has Hassan Ali at 10.

There is a huge possibility that Sharjeel may never play for Pak again.... keep in mind he is "officially" 28 years old ATM, I'm just a year younger than him and he looks old enough to be my mamoo/chacha. Plus Sharjeel did not have a good technique to fall back on, his batting technique was see ball, hit ball. These kind of batsmen regress quite appreciably with age (Sehwag is an example) and with 2.5 years out of proper cricket I do not expect Sharjeel to hit the ground running as soon as he returns. Plus he had atrocious fitness during his playing days, I only shudder to think what he is like now.

I would be very happy if Sharjeel proves me wrong, but I do not see him returning.

He has taken up boxing... he will be fitter than before Inshallah.

Yes I agree. Had we been opening with Shehzad and Azhar, then it would have made it easier for Sharjeel to make a comeback because even a regressed Sharjeel will be better than them. But now when his ban will end, he will possibly have to compete with Farhan, Nasir Nawaz or Haris Sohail in LOIs as opener so it will be difficult.

Number of all rounders in the side will make not much impact , its quality of all rounders.

Nawaz is not a proper bowler , WI weak batting is masking that. Pakistan need to have two proper spinners in the team to be favorites in next 20 20 WC.

Hasan and Amir can both bat as well and hit big. Our deepest T20 line up ever, batting from 1-11!

a genuine all-rounder is one who can make the team on each of his batting or bowling strength alone on merit; otherwise they are fake all-rounders i.e., bits and pieces players and its never a good idea to play more of them; in the list you mentioned there is no single genuine all-rounder

With experience, some of these guys will become even better. The attitude is a breath of fresh air. The likes of Anwar, Bhatti etc never really had the quiet swagger that these current players have.

Shadab is the only genuine all-rounder, ie, he can win you a game with the bat and with the ball

the others can do a job in their weaker field.

I still am not totally convinced by Faheem Ashraf's batting, seems a bit limited in his shots compared to shadab

He takes a bit of time to get going imo. Not pure hitter from ball 1 like Asif Ali.

hopefully, he improves on it. He is a good guy to have in the squad, but I don't think he should be a guaranteed starter yet.

I feel we should always play 3 frontline pacers (especially in ODIS), Shadab is then the obvious spinner and then as the 5th bowler id have faheem/spinner depending on conditions.

The problem with faheem is he blindly slogs/swings at every ball, almost all his shots are premeditated, what he needs to learn is to play the ball late and on merit not swing like a gate in a thunderstorm. Massive potential but I fear he might end up going the afridi route.

Will learn with experience. His innings for IU in the first match they played was quite sensible.

Faheem should be allowed to develop at his own pace. He should concentrate on his stronger suit which is bowling, while simultaneously working hard on his batting. Its Asif Ali that should be developed into a power-house. I don't remember seeing such a clean hitter in Pakistan cricket since a very long time.

I agree with your post. That innings was a true showing of his potential no doubt he has the ability just needs temperament. Like you said should focus on his stronger suit otherwise he will just become a bits and pieces player.

Do not forget that Fakhar Zaman is an all rounder too. He bowls really well and can easily become top 10 ICC ranking bowler if given the ball. Easy as pie.

I think our T20 team has finally settled. What we now need is a couple of batsmen and a couple of bowlers on our bench.

I would suggest some from:

Sahibzada Farhan
Agha Salman (middle order bat + off spinner)
Imad Wasim
Rumman Raees
Usman Shinwari
Zafar Gohar

Nawaz is a great bench player to have.

When Imad will be back Nawaz will get benched again

Micky Arthur has done wonders with our team in one year.Let see how we perform overseas.

We still can't chase a total to save our lives.

Haris Sohail is another allrounder who's injured.

Though unlikely to bowl in T20s, he's an improvement over Babar.

Our T20 cricket is at an upward curve, lets hope other two formats also sort themselves out

I don't think Haris has a place in the T20 side.Should focus on Tests and ODIs where he is an automatic pick.

LOI cricket these days is all about utility players, guys that can bat, bowl and field. Pak have strung together a decent enough side to do that in T20s, just need a middle order hitter in the ODI sides and we're done.

Its tests that im interested in how we can get these players in. Personally, I don't think any are ready just yet, but in the near future, it would be good to see Talat ( if he improves in first class) or Agha Salman, batting at 7 and being the 5th bowler. Down the track off course Shadab will come in im sure but there is no need to rush that.

Haris is more than decent as a 6th bowler

Even Shadab is not a genuine all-rounder yet but the among the fake all-rounders listed in OP he is the only one who is capable to become a genuine all-rounder. But he has to bat above Fahim Ashraf.

Its good for us, some years ago we were really struggling and in need of an all rounder. And now we have many players who classify as all rounders.
