The National T20 Cup could not have come at a better time for Pakistan's T20 World Cup chances

A series against a New Zealand C side where level of competition was suspect to say the least would have hidden some of the issues and also not provided the sort of practice we needed.

As they say, everything happens for a reason. Maybe we will look back at the New Zealand tour cancellation and the bringing forward of the National T20 Cup which allowed selectors to reverse what would have been disastrous decisions is as close to divine help as it gets!

Even Rizwan commented on it today

I somewhat agree. I think the changes made and the options available helped. Got to see many players play, got to see how the TTF are still playing, which players to keep an eye on and which players could break into the squad for the T20 WC squad.

Obviously not all the changes were made, their are still some players who could discarded and replaced but either way the National T20 Cup being brought forward was a good idea.

Think specifically Azam Khan selection was a slow train wreck happening in front of our eyes.

Not just the changes being the good part, but it's always good to play some competitive cricket before the World Cup.

However, pitches should have been slower and spongier in the NT20 Cup, these guys will need to check their shots and understand what can be done on these UAE wickets.

For the criteria of finding a hitter, Pakistan fell so low that Azam Khan's name came into the reckoning.

Definitely the tournament became really important especially after the two series being called off.

The only thing I was worried about was our regular and main players getting injured or unfit in a pretty competitive but, slightly hectic tournament especially considering the fact that they have been or roads and in bubbles for too long.

Everyone is possibly good to go but, Sohaib’s back injury was an unfortunate one. Though it could have come at any time to be honest.

Absolutely, playing competitive cricket has removed any rust, considering the last cricket some of these players played was T20 against West Indies and CPL.

Even if it had been NZD A, it may not have exposed the squad for what it is worth.

Azam, Khushdil, Sohaib, Hasnain, Asif & co. may not have played all of the games and could have gotten away by citing whatever situation they came in at.

Having a domestic tournament with multiple matches and scenarios, with a license for aspirants to bat at higher numbers left little to no room for excuses.

The honest answer is that the team selected itself on the basis of this tournament and the squad more or less represents this.

With the main players gone, the fringe players are also getting a good chance to shine.

Win-win.

I couldnt agree more. This has been some solid practice.

I have also been impressed by the coverage quality.

True. And I think if this kind of coverage is persisted with throughout the ODI and 4-day tournament then it will leave little to no doubt as to who are deserving selections and who are not.

This tournament has been great because it has started to expose the mediocre players and given everyone a chance. It also exposed the **** poor coaches that selected the likes of Shazad and Kami over Abdullah. Another thing exposed is the awful levels of fielding and you can't move forward if such tripe continues.

I guess that's the best way to practice before the major tournament...

Kudos to PCB Management for arranging it on very short notice after New Zealand and England snub. Plus, the quality was one of the best that anyone can hope for

Pakistan could end up losing the semi final of the WC.

But one thing is for sure. Such high quality domestic tournaments with high quality coverage will only mean good for Pakistan’s future.

Exactly

This Pakistan team is like Barry richards under apartheid
They have no matches to showcase their talent

This world cup is like their IPL
