The NFL Thread

I am a pretty Eagles fan and that has to be most exciting game ever. One of my friends went to the game and he said he was going crazy and how everyone around him was completely silent. I say we have a decent chance of the Superbowl, we just got to improve our defense. It's too inconsistent.

I think I've finally recovered from the shock. Absolute shocker. Giants could have won easily if we had played the prevent defense but Fewell remained too aggressive. Blame goes to Coughlin, ST coordinator, Dodge and especially Aaron Ross! If he had contained Vick like he was supposed to we could have got them on the next down.

This is what happens when you call the jets fans second class citizens. :))) :)))

I have always loved Micheal Vick.

lol Dude even I am still in shock :O, sometimes I feel this is all a dream.......

Vikings awful record
Problems with the first head coach
Getting sued for sending nude pics to a reporter
Coach fired
Several key players injured
Starting as Qb with17+ injuries
Vikings stadium getting destroyed by the storm
Streak broken
Coming back to play MNF when ruled 'out'
Getting destroyed yet again-leaving the game and not returning.

Brett Farve, God wants you to retire.
Please just quit before you continue to make fool of yourself, you washed up piece of crap.

Why? Because your team can't stop him?

No. Hate him because he's a punk. I never hope for a player to get injured but if it happened to D-Jax, I wouldn't mind. He needs to respect the game. The backwards fall into the end zone, the running along the goal line, etc. He's talented but he's developing a bad rep around the league.

Actually I Think the running along the goal line one as to kill the clock to ensure it was 0 seconds.

Inswing

Amir is right, Djax was running out the clock however the fall back to touch down in Dallas was a punk thing to do, I would hate it if it was done on my team although I did like it cause it was against the Boyz :D...

How 'bout stopping him from scoring if you don't like it?

How 'bout stopping him from scoring if you don't like it?

Shut him down the entire game (with man coverage) and he would have done nothing with the punt if Dodge had kicked it out of bounds like he was supposed to. D-Jax may be more talented but I have a lot more respect for Maclin.

So basically you just said "we didn't let him score...until we let him score"

He has done nothing against our defense this year and we've had man coverage on him the entire time. He took advantage of a poor punt. Let's see him score against our defense. But his attitude fits in well with what Philly has going on...

He's the deep threat. He opens up the field for other players such as Celek, Maclin, and McCoy.

Example: Go look at how many Giants followed Jackson on Maclin's first TD.

NFL Network's Brian Baldinger calls Eagles rookie Jamar Chaney "already one of the best middle linebackers in the league" after just one start in place of Stewart Bradley (elbow).

After watching coaches tape, Baldinger anointed Chaney "phenomenal in all phases of the game" against the Giants. It's high praise for a rookie flying well under the radar. A tackling machine with true sideline-to-sideline speed, Chaney appears to be an upgrade on a very capable Bradley. The Eagles have stated that Bradley won't lose his job to injury, though Chaney may force them to reconsider that stance in the next two games.

Yikes talk about getting a bit carried away, Chaney looks good but wayyyyy toooo early...

Djax undercover, quite funny :D...

LOL that's the same guy that was on Patterson's jockstrap after the Colts game. Wonder how he feels about him now lol.

Eagles Vikes moved to Tuesday night. This means short week for Dallas. PLUS, if they end up with the 3rd seed, that's 3 games in 13 days.

^^^ We r in a lot of trouble if we dont get the 2nd seed, playing in muddy field Chicago I dont like our chances...

Samuel didn't play that game and it was a horrible field. But I still think the Eagles will get that bye. Maybe even the #1 seed. Not likely, but after what I saw the last game of the '08 season, anything is possible lol.

Giants' season is all but over. Can't wait to see Gilbride get fired. Too bad Buddy didn't knick some sense into him....

Greenbay is playing for their playoff hopes and are going out all guns blazing, I dont see Bears beating them at Lambeau next week. However we need to finish strong; have to win the last 2 & with a Greenbay win next week are the 2nd seed.. Also we missed out huge by not drafting Dunlap he has currently around 9 sacks, Brandon Graham's & Jerome Mcdougle's rookie season seems to have a lot of similarities; we trade up for both of em, both are smallish and neither finished their rookie season........ Imagine Dunlap and Trent Cole on the same field :O Here is Dunlap for us to keep saying if only:

You have to look at schemes also. Who knows if Dunlap would be doing so well in our scheme.

And plus, it's the draft. You win some, you lose some. I mean look at how many people passed up on D-Jack :)

Yeah point taken however history shows when Eagles draft smallish DE's more than not they fail, Mamula, Mcdougle etc....

Not over yet, if you need the Bears to win next week I for sure will be rooting for a GB victory as we need the 2nd seed...

I'll be rooting for the Eagles tomorrow as a win by Philly will ensure that the Bears have something to play for against GB. If the Eagles lose than Chicago gets the 2 seed.

Saints Win!!!

Thank god!
Ravens vs Saints hope at the SB still alive for me :D

Eagles #1 seed:

Eagles beat Vikings and Cowboys
Panthers beat Falcons
Bucs beat Saints

Eagles #2 seed:

Eagles beat Vikings and Cowboys
Packers beat Bears

The Eagles CANNOT be the second seed under any circumstances if the Bears win next week.

Thats what I am scared of; that horrible field in Chicago is unwinnable BEarz have an unfair advantage.............

Come on Eagles! Win this one so the Bears have something to play for come Sunday!!

Anybody remember this Michael Vick commercial? Nike pulled it (and dropped him) after the dogfighting case.

[utube]5Oag8iBB7HE[/utube]

Start Kolb, Harrison, and Cooper against the Cowboys next week. Use it as a bye to prepare for the Packers in the 1st round.

Is the protection for Vick usually this bad? The Vikings hustled him all night.

Judging by the breakdown of his interception/fumble numbers in the first 6 and last 6 games of this season, teams seem to have figured out the Eagles' offensive line.

It's been two extremes. Early on in the season, it was downright horrible. That's one of the reasons people believed that Reid switched to Vick. His mobility could hide some of the o-line problems and because he thought Kolb would have been killed behind that line.

But as the players got healther and starting games with each other as a line, they got better. Lately, however, they've been reverting back to the early season woes. Chicago gave a hint of it and now for 7 1/2 of the past 8 quarters, there might as well not have been an o-line in front of Vick.

This is the 2nd time in a row we couldve had the 1st round bye but we screwed up, looks like Eagles rather do things the hard way.. If we somehow get by the Packers, NO WAY IN HELL WE BEAT A BEARS SIDE coming off a bye rested in MUDDY FIELD CHICAGO, this season is OVER....

THINGS TO DO NEXT SEASON:

-Get Asomugha, somehow a trade or somethin leave Patterson as a backup..
- Get a STUD SS, get rid of Mikell..
- Stew moves back to his natural position (SAM) with Chaney a permanent fixture in the middle.
- Draft a stud right Guard.
- Looks like we will also have to draft a DE in the early rounds...

There is nothing much to figure out, its been an all out BLITZ left right and centre however when that happened Eagles havent been able to pull of big plays which you see the Brady's, Mannnings etc wouldve pulled off.. If we did get some big plays when the Blitz was on; teams would think twice...

I'm predicting the road to the SB being as follows:

Home against GB
@ Chicago
Home against New Orleans.

Keep faith man. Some points to remember from that last game:

1) Asante Samuel didn't play. How huge is having someone like Samuel against a QB that likes to take risks like Cutler? The Eagles had to start Trevard Lindley and Cutler took advantage.

2) The Eagles were seeing that horrible field for the first time.

3) The Eagles had just come off emotional wins against the Colts who always destroyed them in the past, the Redskins in that magical Monday night, and the Giants who were the main thread to the division throne. It's hard to keep that momentum up for a 4th straight game.

4) That last game was like the SB for the Bears. They had to win to shut their critics up.

Besides all of this, the Eagles still only lost by 5 pts although the margin was reduced in garbage time.

I'm not saying that it's going to be an easy win. No game against any opponent coming off a bye in their house is. But to say that they don't have a chance is wrong.

I dont see us getting very far in the playoffs; our secondary is practically Naked sure Asante will get a few spectacular plays but we are gonna need more than that.. You saw how bad our Dline played today the front 4 could barely get to Webb even with the blitz they couldnt get much push up front.. Lets be realistic I dont like our chances however I am optimistic for next season; I have a good feeling FO will bring in some big names and we should have 2 1st round picks, NEXT YEAR IS OUR YEAR.....

Assuming the Packers lock up the sixth seed; Aaron Rodgers will make the Eagles secondary look foolish in the first round. Don't be surprised if it's a one-and-done year for the Eagles.

I dont know about you guys but I actually have Eagles vs Saints for the NFC final w/ Saints winning ofcourse :D

Yes I do hope I am wrong for the playoffs and rest for rest of the tourney, lets go BIRDS !!! BIRD UP!!!!

P.S. We have picked up DE Bobby McCray, atleast he is a BIG guy..

Eagles can beat most of the NFC contenders but the Pack are a tough draw. Eagles' fans should be rooting for the Giants to make it because I don't think you you'll beat GB.

Yeah, I'm pretty torn on who I would rather have the Eagles face. A-Rod scares me as well as the thought of Clay Matthews running after Vick all day.

Then again, beating the Giants 3 times in one year would be tough.

So I'm hoping for the Bucs! lol.

Here are my predictions

AFC

Colts beat the Jets
Ravens beat the Chiefs

Steelers beat Colts
Ravens beat Pats

Ravens beat Steelers

NFC

Eagles beat Packers
Saints beat Seattle

Eagles beat Chicago
Saints beat Falcons

Saints beat Eagles

Superbowl

Ravens beat Saints :D

I have read most of the 'expert' opinions on the Eagles game against the Packers and virtually no one is giving the Eagles even a little bit of respect. I don't get it why Eagles are hated so much.

Ignoring the Dallas game, they've stunk for 7 1/2 of the past 8 quarters.

For me, it's simple. If they have a good balance of run/pass, they win. If they abandon the run, they lose.

[utube]BOlef0uUY7k[/utube]

I am throwing my support behind the Eagles this playoffs. I really want Vick to win a Superbowl. off-field incidents aside, talent like that deserves one.

What a game between the Jets and Colts! Jets win on a 30 odd field goal by Nick Folk...Great Win!!!!!!

That game was great and yea was prolly better but as a Jets fan I had to comment on that win and to finally beat Manning felt real good. Now hopefully we can beat New England after they pretty much raped us last time around.

This morning when I woke up and saw the rain and snow forecast, I decided to not go to Qwest for the Hawks-saints game. after all it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Saint would march allover Seattle. It took a lot of prompting from friends( and lots of sunlight to boot) before I decided to go. What a great game that was. My first at Qwest and this has to be one of the best places to play football in the country.
It must be the homer in me, but I really like our chances if we go to Chicago next week.

Man you are sooo lucky.....and yea if we have Chicago then i lie our chances as Cutler's not gonna make any 3rd down conversions...

3:08 AM Monday 10/1/11 in AUstralia and I cant sleep, constant thoughts of the Eagles...

LOL. SO much joy after barely beating a team missing half its starters? Patriots will leave you in the dust by half-time. :D

I think the winner of this game is going to the Super Bowl. Falcons and Bears are good but the Eagles and Packers are the best in the NFC.

Best run I've seen this year. Pushing guys out of the way like rag dolls.

My point exactly. I hated how Rex said it finally feels good to beat Manning and kept saying how personal it was blah blah. lol their team is a fluke. Big blowout coming.

I think the Falcons won't do much but didn't the Bears beat the Eagles?
