Good for you because you were ready to give him even 100 matches to prove his worth.Didn't take 100 matches.

And as always we were rightWe were also told by Pant fans that he can play as a batsman alone.![]()
And as always we were right
Looks like Pant ended this poster's PP careerWow, really showing us he’s the best WK batsman in a long time, the next Gilchrist.
Anyone who wins us a test series in Australia and has a game suited for LOIs should be given 100 matches to prove himself![]()
Bat on the face. #smashedAt least we will hear less about his average and how well he bats in SENA.
They often talk about his 2 hundreds, but the truth is that let alone hundreds, this guy can't make 30 crucial runs.
Don’t need no IPLPlayers like Pant, Pandya always grow in stature during a gold standard league like IPL. It's actually the bronze standard international cricket where they fail to replicate their IPL performances.![]()
Yeah. Now don't curse him when he fails like KL Rahul in few innings.![]()

Bat on the face. #smashed
I expect the same from you though![]()
I think he has now safely cemented his place in all 3 formats for India
You post less on the topic and more on the intent of posters here. You are just trolling now.lol some people think that saying "Well Played" is a big deal.
"Well played" is nothing but a rejected bail application from a prison of ridicule![]()
At the current rate, Pant might be compared to Tendu himself soon.
Crazy crazy player.
You post stuff like this and leave it on us to defend![]()
If Rishab Pant does not end his career on the same level as Adam Gilchrist - he should be very disappointed with himself
Not sure in T20s. We have so many options there
With his match awareness and range, plus playing match winning innings at crucial times, he he should definitely be in
Over-rated guy made the captain of his IPL franchise at just 23 years of age
If Rishab Pant does not end his career on the same level as Adam Gilchrist - he should be very disappointed with himself
Tbh, that is hardly a benchmark to rate a player.
Tbh, that is hardly a benchmark to rate a player.
Which 23 year old becomes captain unless they are rated highly? Have you seen a dud player below 25 become captain? Smith and kohli became IPL captains at 22
Shadab became captain of Pakistan at 23 and not many rate him highly.

Won his team a series in a nation where some teams last won a test before he was born. Is that a benchmark to rate a 23-year-old player?
IPL is a domestic tournament, so one of the main objective of the league is to help develop young cricketers. So, if a young Indian player like Pant is made captain, it can't really be used as a benchmark to judge his skill or competence.
Weird how this didn't happen before in 10 years despite us having so many young players? Even when kohli was made captain at 22, it was temporary for one match as a stand in
Its hilarious you thinking that private business owners have a goal to develop talent and then in the next breath you will claim its a money hungry league
The mental gymnastics here is nauseating. Imagine thinking private business people goal is to develop Indian talent. you realize BCCI doesn't chose the captain and have no inputs right,
6 out of the 8 captains in last year's IPL were Indians. You are telling me that all those 6 teams didn't have any oversees player that would've been a better captaincy candidate?
If you are still so deluded to think that, I can't help you.
Stop taking everything to heart. This is not a dig at Pant.
The point is not Indians being selected, the point is a 23 old being selected over the likes of rahane and Ashwin who both have captaincy experience and the later is a super star in his team
Man I have never ever seen someone jumping over points so fast when proven wronf, first it was to develop indian talent, then it was only because Indians can be captain
Using your same logic the team did not have any senior veteran Indian players rather than a 23 year old?
. Yes of course you are just undermining why a 23 year old pant was selected over seniors like Ashwin but totally not a dig, I swear
Not sure why it is so hard for you to understand - no one is jumping over any points. The points are still the same - in a domestic tournament like IPL, Indian players, no matter how young or old, will always get the preference when it comes to captaincy because it aids in their development and also brings in greater viewership from domestic markets/sponsors as those are household names vs overseas players. So, you can't conveniently say that the point isn't Indians being selected, when the evidence is right in front of you.
He's obviously a more logical choice as a captain in a domestic tournament compared to veteran Indians because it'll help the franchise ride the wave of excitement and bring in more eye-balls towards DC.
But again, that does not mean that you can use that to discredit someone who says Pant is overhyped. IPL is a domestic tournament and you need to understand that in addition to the world not revolving around it, getting captaincy in it cannot be used as a yardstick to measure the capability of a player.
Didn't Shreyas Iyer become Delhi's captain at 23? And he's still preferred over Rishab who is just, ironically, a temporary captain.
Point is, Pant is a solid player but him becoming Delhi's captain at a young age doesn't really prove a lot. His other achievements do.
Sanju Samson is RR's captain now but he's still an ordinary player.
Sanju is the captain because there's no guarantee that Butler will play the entire IPL. Delhi could have easily picked Ashwin but they chose Pant. Iirc he also captained the Delhi Ranji team. People in power think he's got the chops.
Your part about Butter not playing the whole IPL is factually incorrect. Kumar Sangakara who is RR director of cricket said they planned their team around Buttler ,Stokes, and Archer playing the full season. Chris Silverwood has said the English players will play the full IPL even if that means they miss the tests against NZ.
The reason I think RR didn’t go for Buttler as captain is because they don’t want to be in a position like they were last season where Steve Smith was horribly out of form . But they could not drop him as he was captain. So they went for an Indian captain.
Personally not sure on Samson as captain. It’s a completely out of the box move.
You must be kidding. Captaincy is a vote of confidence on one's ability. It's absolutely a yard stick to measure the capability of a player. It's an additional responsibility that is bestowed upon when there is confidence in the ability of the player to perform at his primary skill. He already is a premier batsman. He's the WK of the team and now he's the captain. DC just put their fate into the hands of a 23 yr old because they believe he will do all 3 jobs well.
Sanju is the captain because there's no guarantee that Butler will play the entire IPL. Delhi could have easily picked Ashwin but they chose Pant. Iirc he also captained the Delhi Ranji team. People in power think he's got the chops.
Wasn't there a speculation that Butler and Stokes won't be part of the final phases because of Nz test series ? The clarification came much later
Rishabh Pant starts his captaincy career with a dominant win over MSD's Chennai Super Kings. The banton has been passed.![]()
Dhoni retired. Baton to be passed between KL Rahul, Samson and Saha now.
He isn't playing as a batsman though.![]()

The guy gets ridiculous hype, however I'm yet to see anything which deserves the hype.
He's one of the worst, ugliest players I've ever seen, a downgraded version of Raina. Has no technique and is a back flipping Indian version of Umar Akmal.
I don't take heed of performances in the TPL.

“CAN” is the keyword here.
Rishabh Pant is already the greatest wicket keeper batsman that India have ever produced.
I am a proper test match cricket fan and for me, test series win in Australia is as big as winning the World Cup and Pant has won the test series in Australia twice while no keeper bat has won the World Cup twice for India.
Hence, to conclude, Pant is already the greatest wicket keeper batsman that India have produced and whatever he achieves from now onwards, his legacy will only go higher.
Another brilliant catch
What a bad keeper he WAS
Pant out of everyone else in the Indian team actually came out of the match with his reputation intact or enhanced. Its only him and Ashwin who we can say had decent games.
Shami had a decent game too
