The Walking Dead [Use Spoiler Tags!]

I'm a fan of this show, but its going nowhere at the moment.

They move around from one place to other with limited supplies

Encounter an evil group

Fight with the evil group for half a season

Demolish them

Lose a member or two

Superhero Rick Grimes just cannot be defeated our outsmarted, and seems to have a strategic IQ of over 200.

Grown up men get killed, but for some reason Carl Grimes cannot be harmed while nursing a baby that has survived the apocalypse for a
year, and grows healthier with each passing week

REPEAT

I'm not following the comics, and I have no idea how closely they are following its storyline, so unless there is something really fresh and different coming up, I don't see how this redundant show can get through another 4-5 seasons at this rate.

Disclaimer:

Didn't watch yesterday's episode.

Well, they are bound to find another group of survivors or have their own place where they are surviving. That is just a post apocalyptic world.

Really good episode yesterday, and I have to say it has indeed picked up since season 3. Loving this show and a huge fan.

Just watched the episode.

Looks interesting so far, but predictably, something is going to go wrong but you can be assured that Rick will always be two steps ahead of his foe.

They would go in there.. spend a few episodes chilling with not a whole lot happening. Then there will either be an outbreak from within somehow or a breach of the walls or something.

This pattern has been repeated atleast twice before.

The show is fast losing its appeal as they do not have any new ideas.

I thought they were heading somewhere with the plot when they were going to Washington but that plan was promptly shot down

Same here.

It was great up till the Governor storyline, but then it became incredibly predictable. Let's see how this one pans out, seems to have more depth to it than Terminus which was way too obvious to begin with it.

If you were the writer what you have done? We have to realize it is a zombie apocalypse. Even if they have a safe place they will always see the zombie threat, and asp another survivor threat taking over their supplies/home. That's what happened with the governor storyline. The only thing else that could happen is heir quest for cure, which I don't see it happening. I still feel it is an amazing show and made a zombie apocalypse story more appealing than what we see in the movie. It has drama, love story, character development, etc, that any good show has.

I agree with all that.. but all the characters are doing is roaming around from one safe house to another.

The writers should try to move towards a logical end to all this saga. Maybe start the hunt for the cure or something I dont know.

You are right in a sense that there is no final goal in the show. But this is zombie apocalypse. They showed the characters roaming around to actually indicate how difficult it is on the road, without food or water, while there is always a zombie or a stranger threat. Now that they are in a safer place, it shows the viewers that life can be again normal (like how it was in the prison). Yes, the danger or a rival survival gang and zombies are always there and that could be our next story like (remember Wiltshire estates in episide 9). I for one is excited to see what comes next.

I'm up to series 4.

Some of these guys are invincible even when surrounded by Zombies.

I thought the Governor was an excellent actor, really intimidating.

The ending makes it seem like Rick wants to take over Alexandria, but from past experiences with the Governor and Terminus I am sure there is something about Alexandria we don't know about yet.

So the Walking Dead has entered the boring part of the series where they will chill in their safe house and all they'll do is talk.

Loved the latest episode. Some new people, new rules, new roles. Crazy how Rick said that they would take over if they have to.
Also, who was watching Rick when he hid that gun in the blender?

Some people complain that these guys are on the road, some complain why are they in a place all settled. People won't be happy with anything. The talk is the best part. Lots of clues and spoilers as to what may come. But I seriously believe the latest episode was very interesting. It was a refreshing change to see clean clothes, clean people and nice houses/mansions. I know something definitely is cooking up and there might be something (or some other rival gang) coming up.

Just to mention, in this half of the season, we are getting so many clues about WOLVES. I assume that was the gang which destroyed Wiltshire Estates. Maybe even the show creative writers have a way of giving us some clues that Wolves are coming. The latest clue being the Comic found by Carl, that had Wolf on it.

If you recall, when they were all going to terminus, michonne saw a painting in the house that resembled Mary (Terminus cannibal).

It didn't make sense to me why he hid the gun in the blender in the first place?

Just how he hid the guns before going into terminus in case things go wrong, he hid it in the blender in case things go wrong.
I say that girl who climbed the wall, happened to be there and took the gun away. That's what I am predicting..

Very good episode again. Few clues are given about some vicious group, maybe named WOLVEs. We came across the aftermath of the same group in the Mid season opener. They killed everyone in the community of Wiltshire estates and had a "W" on their forehead. We found another dead walker with the same sign. Also some clues, as in, that Wolf comic carl finds and gives it to that girl who climbs the wall (don't remember her name). Maybe we would see this group soon. Lets see. Should be a very interesting season. I am glad how well it picked up this season. Loves the Jessie character. Think she is gorgeous. Mr. Rick grimes should kill her husband and take advantage. lol. If i was him, I would definitely take advantage of that..haha

I feel Alexandria is not safe from the Living, as the people inside have no idea what is outside, and what people could do.

Even the games looks great. I played bit of Walking Dead game by Telltale , its great fun.

Season is setting up really well. Where in previous series, other groups have ruined any chance of assimilation, it seems that it is the gang themselves who are going to cause problems here.

I have a pretty good idea of what is coming next from the comics. I'm curious to know if Rick will be able to control his brutality the first time he has to arrest a perpetrator! Obvious conflict coming between him and the doctor.

Sasha seems to have adopted the Andrea role from the comics.

That has happened twice now IIRC - also in episode 1.1.

One wonders how many animals survived the apocalypse. Feral hogs could eat the walkers and do Rick and crew a favour!

I've only watched the first season, is it worth watching the show beyond that?

I prefer the returned but we've only had 1 season for that show so far

Probably not if you haven't made your mind up after the first season. Personally I liked the second season better, but I was pretty much hooked after the first.

It was pretty good, but haven't made the effort to watch the second season. It makes me feel too sad for some reason :))) but that's a good thing i guess I was emotionally invested in that way. Have you seen the Returned? it's in french but very good, probably the most innovative take on zombies

I tried watching that, managed a few episodes but found it painstakingly slow. Does it pickup?

The Pace remains that way, picks up towards the last 1/4 but it's the narrative that intrigues and its nature of being a psychological thriller. The series has great potential but I don't know what's going on with season 2

I watched the Walking Dead more for the human interactions than the Zombies.

This just keeps getting darker and darker with every episode, Noah's death was probably the most disturbing death of a character in the whole of The Walking Dead so far.

meh noah wasnt bringing much to the table anyway...2 people died saving him and then a few episodes later hes a goner too..what a waste.

You could have spoilerised that, matey.... I've got the episode on the planner.

(He was a nothing character anyway.)

Excellent episode. One of the best of the series in my opinion.

Why would you enter the thread if you hadn't watched the episode yet?

Noah didn't bring much to the table but his death came as a surprise because I reckoned they had a strong arc in place for him, especially after his aspiration to become an architect of sorts.

Where is this up to around the world? Series 5?

Boy that death in last week's episode. Won't be looking at revolving doors the same way ever again.

You forgot the key rule in the walking dead.

The second a character displays A) backstory or B) usefulness they are doomed

Plus he was black, poor guy didnt stand a chance.

(His death was so brutal though, ugh! Game of Thrones level of gore)

I know it's the nature of the show, but this weeks episode really did seem to ramp it up a notch with the gore. Bordering on gratuitous in my view.

So who are these Wolves? Are they hinting at Rick's group being the Wolves and are going to take over Alexandria as the wolf's would do? Or is it a group in the hiding looking for an opportunity to take over Alexandria?

I can sum up the collapse of that theory in one word: Michonne.

B

I can sum up the collapse of that theory in one word: Michonne.

The black highlander rule is sexist; it only goes after men. It can tolerate women of colour in the group but not more than one black man.

Aiden's end reminded me of Captain Rhodes' end from Day of the Dead. That one was even MORE graphic with disembowelment in loving detail.

I would love it if Father Gabriel gets thrown to a pack of zombies. Utterly worthless and thankless guy.

Very interesting episode, some of the characters have definitely been deeply affected by staying on the outside for too long especially Rick. We keep seeing those W's on the walkers, wonder who's doing them? :13:

The Walking Dead is probably the least racist TV show I have ever watched. No other TV box set has fascinated me so much.

What a killer season 5 finale. This is probably the best season so far. I am so happy the direction the show is heading now. Simply Amazing!!!! So many storylines converging.

Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant! Finale. Lot has happened. Lot will happen. Must watch.

May I just take a time to say Carol has become very dangerous and cunning. I am scared of her. Ever since she berried those children, she hasn't been the same.

For those of you who saw the finale:

Did Glenn get bit towards the end? Sasha needs to be killed off along with that coward and a hypocrite preacher. The guy in a red hoodie....was he suppose to symbolize red riding hood, since wolves were mentioned?

Bro, wth. Don't post comic spoilers out in the open.

OK, but the telly series is not following the comics that closely. There was no Terminus in the comics, no hospital, and a lot of the characters are different. Andrea survives in the comics and plays the role that Sasha has been given, for example.

I think Glenn is safe. If he was bit, they would have used that in the finale I believe.

I think Glen would be killed off in a more prestigious way than being bit.

Liked this season. Carol needs to be put down. She is becoming a worry. Father Gabriel and Nicholas join Carl of Season 2, Lori and Andrea as my most hated characters on the show.

Awesome scenes with Morgan. Always happy to see him.

They have even devised a new word with Rick's style of ruling - Ricktatorship :))

What's wrong with Sasha, man?

Is the time of the month or something? So Emo

Ima tell you, the Shanarchy was better. You can see Rick doing all of the things Shane used to advocate for. He was just ahead of the curve. I'm glad Rick finally seeing the merits of summary execution and coveting another man's wife.

I can't imagine Glen being killed off for some reason, although right through the series some big characters have bitten the dust. Glen and Rick are the untouchables in my opinion. Rip-roaring finale by the way. Been a bit of a slow burner this season but back to it's adrenaline pumping best in the last two episodes.

I never disliked Shane. I actually found myself agreeing with most of his actions. His only issue was he didn't bother getting the people on his side. Then there was the thing where he tried to play daddy which distracted him from the big picture.

Rick on the other hand has people on his side. Look at Michonne. She would follow him if he makes a suicide cult. Even after the apocalypse, communication skills matter.

You have to understand what Sasha just went through. Lost a lover then a brother back to back! That can break you! Maggie on other hand has a strong personality and got toughen out post her dad's death. So, she was fine after Beth died.

What I see it as, those who survived from the beginning are tough as hell. Rick, Daryl, Maggie, Glenn, Carl, Carol and Michonne!

They are very strong mentally and has great survival instinct.

The best strength of surviving I have seen is when Rick had to bite off that guy's neck when Daryl, Michonne and Carl were down/captured. The episode starts with Rick's face covered with blood and then it ends with it ... That was some serious fight back!

And did you notice that Rick did GOT kind of killing to walker! Eyeball popped out as he squeezed thorax! He gave like valsalva maneuver to walker. LOL

Loved the finale.

Hope Morgan isn't set off by his first impression of the new Rick Grimes.

I didn't much rate the finale. What we saw of the Wolves was anticlimactic. I expected a horde of zombies at the gate and they didn't come,
only a disappointing three.

Nice to see this new and improved Morgan back though, obviously through his grief and apparently having acquired martial arts skills.
