This trailer keeps appearing on my feeds. Says based on true events.

125 Indian soldiers defeated 3000 Chinese troops?

Anyone have any more details about this? Cant find much on google.

Nice to see Indian war fiction movies moving beyond Pakistan now and showing some diversity

Thanks!

It says " A memorial in Rewari, where most of the Ahir soldiers came from, claims that 1,300 Chinese soldiers were killed in the battle."

So this is an Indian claim?

Anyone know if there is any indepenent historical view(s) on this battle?

Is this a Bollywood movie?

I checked around and only see Indian sources mentioning this battle and outcome.

So either
1) it’s exaggeration and enters into fiction territory (as with all war movies)
OR
2) it happened to some degree but India got spanked so badly in the overall war that such small successes get lost in the grander scheme.

Thanks . Its strange, India lost the war badly but this movie seems to suggest otherwise as some sort of great moral victory in this battle.

Maybe joshilabhai can shed some light on this. cricketjoshila

Every war has several battles that defy the overall result. This was probably one of those.

Re: War result
- I dont think India was in any position to win the war after just 15 years of independence against a superior (both quality and quantity) military
- Nehru made several strategic mistakes - Trying to befriend China on one hand, forward policy without adequate plans (diplomatic and military) & preparedness, inadequate international support/alliance (USSR or USA).
- Not prepared (or expecting) against a vile, opportunistic & deceitful enemy (continues till this day)

When you have lost a war badly with a nation which is similar in size/population, making such movies to glorify as some sort of great sucess and adding masala to the storyline would be highly embarrasing for many citizens.

If you watch it , let us know what your thoughts on the film.

China was independent for a similar time frame. And the China of today and that time was very different. The world (and India) saw China saw as a weak country filled with hungry, dying people and didn’t expect India to get such a spanking

Looks like an exaggeration. One average indian can easily take down 3 average chinese, ceteris paribus, but that is about it.

Avengers and Justice League together ain’t got nothing on a single Indian soldier. He can kick butt, take names, then have a cup of tea with the neighbors all at the same time.

Lolz, are they trying to do the re-enactment of the 'Battle of Thermopylae' ala Indian version

I think the web series represents facts (only slightly exaggerated in nos). You can check on history of all wars/battles India has fought. Eventually, the Indian narrative has held more credence (take latest example of Galwan clash where China initially refuted any casualties or the Kargil war). So I do believe in what my govt states when it comes to war reporting.

Now, how this is a small feat when you take down a well prepared enemy using 15x less resources (both men and material)? In India, we celebrate valor and courage irrespective of the results. These 120 people are true heroes we are proud of.

The series has received bad reviews everywhere. I dont know why. I liked it (4/5).

Yes China of today is far stronger than 1962. That said, it was still far superior to India militarily even at that time.

After Indian shenanigans where they were pretended to bomb imaginary training camps in Pakistan, ALL Indian military statements should be taken with a real pinch of salt.

If we make an "Average" Indian then they will have a small proportion of Muslim or Sikh within them so its quite possible.

The most recent Balokot narrative has proven to be fiction, something out of Bollywood. Indian current government has no credibility esp after Modi's statements of clouds messing up Pakistan radar, which he told his Air Force would be the time to attack. I could go on , but you get the point.

I dont think I will watch the movie or series. Can you please give us a brief summary of events?

I actually believe the narrative of Indian govt - every word of it. No point arguing over this one since there is no proof either side.

Re: summary
Its out there on wikipedia:

They added a triangle love story to the mix

Wikipedia isn’t exactly the place to start if you want to give a veneer of credibilkty and point out a source

Did an Indian shout "This is INDIAAA!" and then slaughter a hundred chinese in one go?? if not this cant be based on the truth!

I must say, props to Indian producers for rewriting the narrative. Who cares about facts in India, anyways? :))

Did the chinese offer them a cup of tea before being slaughtered?

Where are the Indians? Do you believe this story? :afridi

im disappointed there wasn't a xerxes type evil chinese overlord...

Depends whether a soldier is from North India or South India. If he is from North then 3 is a good enough number but if he is from land of Rajnikanth then I would say that soldier can take on at least 15 others in a fist fight.
