What's new

Third Test between India (603/9d) and Australia (451 & 204/6) ends in a draw, series equal at 1-1

Excellent Partnership the belief in that partnership was amazing they played every ball to its merit hit boundaries where possible really loved that 14 runs over by Ashwin..
Australia should get confidence going into the last test..
Series is for Australia to win!!!

Good try to jinx.

We all know this is far from over. They still need to bat at least 15 to 20 overs.

Have to say this amazing cricket. All kind of things said about test cricket but nothing beats this type of play.

Ashwin has bowled like a part-timer in this match, so much for the Bradman of bowling :)))

Brilliant match this nevertheless..

Teams should focus on Dharmasala now.

Pujara should be man of the match.. Brilliant perormances from Smith and Jadeja too.

He probably won't even have to come out to bat.

Tons from Smith and Renshaw are very much confirmed for tomorrow. :don

Remember, Maxi is yet to bat. :excitedtroll

Yeah, maybe Maxi can score a double century, one each for Smith and Renshaw as you predicted :excitedtroll ;-)

What is Maxwell comes in and scores a 40 ball century and then Aus declare and go for win :smith

As some wise man reportedly said, if my aunt had b**** she would be my uncle.

Ashwin should be rested for next match (dropped is a too bigger word for Bradman I guess :)) ) India can bring in Bhuvi in place of Ishant, bring back Jayant and also use Kuldeep as a surprise package against the Aussie lefthanders (Ashwin should have been the one to trouble these left-handers, but apart from that 4th innings in Bangalore, he has not done anything worth. Too much pressure on Jadeja at the moment) With Jayant, Bhuvi, Jadeja and Kuldeep in the line up we can compensate for the 6th batsman and its no way going to be hard to bat on that pitch (Nair can be dropped, as Rahane can feel like home on Dharmashala pitch!) Though it looks too many changes, we got to do it for the sake of winning the series and utilize the entire squad for that!

you were looking alright some days earlier but what has happened to you...you said yesterday aussies would collapse & was ready to bat and now you saying this....is everything ok???

Anda in legendary captain's face after his celebration last night :kohli2

This series has been embarrassing for India.

Even if Aus go on to lose 2-1, Aus have proven to be a better side. They would crush the Indians in Australia.

obv im joking dude

New ball due

Poor unimaginative captaincy

Cmon Yadav!

If Australia dont lose all wickets in next 6-8 overs, game's a draw

Hazlewood, Starc, Cummins and Pattinson.

The only time these 4 will play together is in a video game

More like 2 of these 4 and one of Siddle or Bird

Why arent the pacers esp Yadav getting a crack with the new cherry?!

Well played bhai.

Well played.

:salute

Hope Australia bowl first under cloudy skies in Dharamsala. RIP Indian batting resurgence.

Should shake hands and call it game, these lads aren't going to pick up 6 more wickets.

Then again, both could make India suffer and smash it their 100's :harby

Not very impressed with Virat Kohli captaincy throughout this series. Needs to back his bowlers instead of further demoralizing them.

Jaddu is the lone warrior in Indian bowling lineup! (With some support from Umesh) Ashwin has let us down in this series. I still wonder how he won us the Bangalore game!

I can't overstate how much I lament Panesar and KP not having toured India before Christmas. I don't think England would have lost.

at this point Aus have outperformed India's performance in Aus you have to admit.

They won a test which we failed to do last time there, so yes they have outperformed India in Aus. My objection was to his comment that Aus would crush India in Aus.

No, Ashwin did bowl well against England. If he was hiding injury (and any fatigue) he should have been rested. We should not rely totally on Ashwin & Jadeja for everything (including overseas)

Good morning - what a way to start a week with 2 hours sleep ....

With those 2, ENG wold have lost 5-0. I can explain & you'll be convinced as well - they would have replaced Moeen & Adil. Those 4 Test that IND won, 3 were gang ...., other one was dominating. They could have changed that gang .... into soft ....., while the other one into a tight one. But, the Test that was drawn Moeen had a century & Rashid had a decent outing with bat ....... so you know. This is after winning 4 of the 5 toss. Had the toss altered, their work load would have been half.

Instead of over hyping those Pom cricketers, please appreciate these Aussie kids, who have been outstanding, led by their Captain.

They are playing for Jaddu's 10for I believe - few things never change .....

Fair comment. Perhaps my heart is ruling my head.

Australian batting has been exceptionally poor throughout this series.

Warner should rather have gone back to his own way of batting which is to attack rather than go on the defensive.

Has had 4 poor outings despite that approach.

Renshaw has outperformed the top order other than Smith.

Yes, exactly like last time when they won the series 2-nil.

Do you know australia record in last 10 years in india??? and india record in last decade in australia....you guys only won one test series in past so many series that too after winning the crucial toss whereas in last 10 plus matches india have won only 2 tosses in india against them and won around 8 games

These Aussies are going to out screw some parts if they tour BD this year :( Should have toured last year - those 6/7 Tests in Asia & 3 against PAK has taught them few tricks. 200 in 99 overs, won't have believed, had I not seen it ......

Last over of the match - 2 overs left, but those 2 for change over, therefore IND won't bat, even if Aussies declare.

I didnt expected Australia to do this good in this series... disappointed by Indian performance.

Really want to see how well the SA's would fare in India, with AB and Steyn back in the side, they could push the Indians.

Great Test match. Worthy of watching.

Jadeja should be MoM - kept IND in game in both innings & made a quick 50; otherwise Bradman ensured Aussies race to 600 in 1st 5 sessions ........

I would like to see other way though .................

However with better spinners there would have been far less pressure on the batting lineup.

Still 5-0. But yes, may be not 2 innings defeats (3 actually - Virat didn't enforce the follow on),while at Mohali may be another 2/3 down instead of 9 (or 8?) wickets win.

However, my hunch is , only one of them would have played, because ENG won't have sacrificed "batting depth" for a specialist spinner, who doesn't come into game before 2nd innings; therefore don't think Swan would have got a game - at least not before 3-0. Monty of 2012 could have kept things a bit tighter, Monty of 2016 would have been worse than Ansari.

Top performance from Aus ,they have been the best visitors and fought hard for draw which is unlike them, they are going to be a handful this Ashes.

India in SA? lol

Do you think India have the bowlers to push SA?

Opposite - Indian pacers are more than skilled to set a target of 200 for their 1st class citizens. Almost always that was the case, at least since I had been watching - Durban, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Bridgetown, Karachi ..... even Harare - it's always the fault of the schedule casts.

BK, Shami and Yadav is a decent pace attack.
Not good enough to win a Test in SA IMO, you'll need to rely on your batsmen doing really well against an attack of Steyn, Philander, Rabada and Maharaj.

Depends on whether we take the Indian approach to pitch preparation rather than our usual $$$ approach.

PLease do not select Ishant in this series. His contribution is zilch.

With Ashwin struggling, we only have one potent wicket taking option. Select Kuldeep for next match in place of Ishant and open bowling with Yadav and Jaddu.

Indian record in Australia over the last decade is what? 1 win from 12 tests?

To me, they are good enough. If SA prepare green tracks, BK and Shami become potent. If they prepare flat tracks, then Shami and Yadav are pretty good.

Flat tracks also means that SA will be nullifying their own bowling attack and India can post big scores.

The current Indian team has it in them to challenge SA in SA.

saffers have a good recent record in india. I believe they have won a series there on their way to the number one slot. But their batting isnt looking so great these days so I would expect India to win that one... Although it it is interesting to note that with the Aussies doing well here and England doing well previously, if the saffers do well the aura of India's home invincibility will be under massive threat.

I think Australia still have an outside chance to save this one.

Australia pulled it off then. Looks like one epic partnership saved it. Ashwin is an impact player for India. Him not firing have a great effect on their fortunes.

BK and Shami won't dent South Africa if Amla gets some form back and AB comes back in. Besides, the Indians won't last two sessions against Rabada, Philander and Steyn/Morkel.

As long as CSA doesn't try to milk the upcoming test series for money, South Africa should win it 4:0.

I think we drew matches there.....i remember one bad tour to australia in probably last 15 years in 2012 i suppose when aussies whitewashes us 4-0??

Yeah. Can't be too hard to draw wickets on the highways we serve out to maximise tv cash.

Same reason even New Zealand managed to draw a test last time they were here.

The only team that doesn't get specially prepared wickets are the Poms

I had predicted that Aus would get 180, so this is a great result for the Aussies. It just shows that with real mental toughness, a bit of luck and a good technique, teams can bat out final days like they used to. Handscombe looks ugly at the crease but he does have something about him, and Marsh- who has looked out of his depth came through. Great final test coming up, the toss will again be crucial.

brilliant by Aus, an Inured Ashwin and an injured Ishant (mentally and physically since birth) meant India had 2 bowlers alone,Kohli as a leader and as a batsman have been the main difference between the 2 sides, disaster is the word

Like they did the last time?

They did, you know.

India were never in a position to win any of the four tests except for day 5 in Adelaide when Kohli & Vijay were together.

Score might have finished 2-0 but India got nowhere near winning a test.

Then why pakistan was not able to draw?..why pakistan always get whitewashed in australia? i seriously think if australia prepare green tracks then only india has chance to win the series there because our bowlers are not skilled enough to take 20 wickets on unsupportive wickets...our batting is still worldclass anywhere around the world though it wont be easy to face starc & others there but still that's the only way india can win there by taking 20 wickets.

Because Pakistan are not a good team.
