SIALKOT: Three armed burqa-clad sisters on Wednesday shot dead a man near Sialkot after accusing him of committing blasphemy 13 years ago.

Police managed to arrest the three suspects and identified them as Amna, Afshan and Razia.

The incident took place in Nangal Mirza village, Pasrur tehsil.

According to the police, the three women went to the house of Mazhar Hussain Syed, a faith healer, and asked him to pray for them. They also asked him if his son, Fazal Abbas, had returned from abroad. When told that he had returned from Belgium, they asked if they could see him. As soon as Abbas, 45, appeared before the women, they opened fire on him with the weapons they had brought with them secretly. Abbas died on the spot.

The women raised slogans in jubilation after his death, asserting that they had finally eliminated a blasphemer.

The women, in their statement to police, alleged that Abbas had committed blasphemy in 2004, but “we couldn’t kill him at the time because we were too young then”.

The police confirmed that they had registered a case against Abbas in 2004 under Section 295-C (use of derogatory remarks, etc., in respect of the Holy Prophet) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Pasrur City station, but he fled abroad soon after.

The suspect had recently returned from abroad and promptly obtained pre-arrest bail from a local court.

The body was taken to the Pasrur Civil Hospital for autopsy.

So we're having weekly blasphemy executions by member of the public now? There were eight days between the last execution and this one? Do we still not have a problem?

clearly it seems there is a different agenda on the part of the sisters. prolly would have killed him regardless but ofcourse using the blasphemy card is always a good shot at doing the crime but escaping the time

RIP

The victim had been formally charged with blasphemy in 2004 and had to flee the country.

Just doesnt sound right. blasphemy might not be the reason here.

Even if it is the reason, the women should be punished for taking law into their own hands.

Blasphemy law should be removed imo. It has no place in today's world. It only gives bad name to muslims. Islam is being made to look very rigid these days, something that it isn't.

13 years ago? Mind bogglingly specific.RIP ,what is the punishment according to law btw for blasphemy?

As much as Sarkari's hate you that much I love you.

May Allah keep you safe. Aameen.

So what is the story behind this ? What was the accusation ?

I can guess than within 2-3 days you are off to Australia but I am not sure.

Story's in the quoted article in OP. Man was accused of and charged with blasphemy under 295-C in 2004 and fled the country to Belgium. The murderers were apparently aware and when he returned, they killed him claiming they were too young to do it in 2004.

Australia's still a year or so away. For now, till my paperwork for Aus is finalized, I'm headed to one of my five least favorite countries on earth, one I consider an inferior option to Pakistan in every way except for the absence of deadly mobs and forced disappearances.

Number 10?? With all these killing's of Muslim people by fellow believers it's more like number one. Blasphemy has become an obsession more then anyone else.

Critical thinking is part of human minds. We are not Zombies to blindly believe in everything.

No religion is above criticism. No God/Prophet/Messenger is immune from criticism.
